We rely on the generosity of members of the public in supporting us with donations, legacies and events to raise funds to care for our animals. We need, on average, £30,000 per month to provide a safe home, food and veterinary treatments. Although we do re-home dogs and cats whenever that is appropriate, we have over 100 other animals to care for including pigs, sheep, horses, goats, chickens, ferrets and other small animals, birds and waterfowl. We do not receive any government funding.

Any event you could organise, no matter how large or small, will help us to look after every animal that comes through our gates! From coffee mornings and afternoon teas, to fun runs, balloon trips, sky dives, dog shows, sponsored dog walks and anything else you can think of! The more fun you can have the better! Our animals will benefit directly from any money you raise, as we do not use any professional fundraising organisation. You may have visited the sanctuary and have seen how well our animals are cared for. If you have not, a member of our staff will be happy to show you around. The Sanctuary’s opening hours are Monday-Sunday 12noon-5pm.

Any way you can help will be very much valued by all at the sanctuary. If you are unsure, please take a look at this guide for ideas! If you are not able to hold an event, you can help in other ways, such as making a one off donation, setting up a direct debit, or sponsoring one of our resident animals.

Thank you so much for helping us to continue caring for these amazing creatures at our wonderful sanctuary!

The Trustee Board

Welcome to All Creatures Great & Small’s Fundraising Guide.

ACGAS is a small Animal Sanctuary within the

area of Torfaen, South East Wales.

All Creatures Great and Small Animal Sanctuary began in 1992 at Church

Farm, Llanfrechfa, South Wales. Through the dedication of its

creator Vivienne Harris, the sanctuary became a safe haven for abused,

abandoned and unwanted animals, gaining more recognition and support

and progressing to registered charity status in 2001.

We remain one of the only charities in the area that provides high quality

care and sanctuary, whilst offering rehabilitation and rehoming

programmes. We need to raise £30,000 monthly to continue the work

that we do and it is people like YOU that make this possible. So what are

you waiting for? With fundraising, the sky’s the limit!

Have fun, raise funds and place a little piece of your heart into our

beautiful sanctuary.

Here are some fundraising ideas:

Throw a party! It can be themed, fancy dress or a particular

colour scheme! You can hire a hall, a live band or

hold it in your house! There can be dancing and

cocktails or a pamper night in with your

girlfriends. Whatever suits your personal taste! If

you need any help promoting your event please

call 01633 866144 and ask to speak with our

Fundraising Officer.

Bake Sale You can organise an Edwardian/vintage themed

garden party with afternoon tea, or even hold a

Great British Bake Off competition. Why not host

a traditional craft fayre where donations from

teas/coffees and cakes go directly to All

Creatures Great and Small?

Sporting Event Hire your local sports hall or rugby club and host

a sports day with stalls and a BBQ, finishing with

a rugby or football match. It’s a great day for the

whole family!

Dog Walk Choose a location and distance, get together all

of your local dog walkers and enjoy a day of

picnics, walking and sightseeing with your

four-legged friends!

Birthdays Throw a party for your birthday and instead of

receiving gifts, ask family, friends and guests to

make a donation to All Creatures Great and

Small.

Live Music Night

Why not host a live music night in aid of our

charity? Gather together lots of local bands and

musicians, put on a buffet, run a raffle and

donate ticket sales to the sanctuary.

Shave Your Head Brave the shave or wax your legs and be a hero

for animal welfare!

Sponsored silence If you’re known as a chatterbox, or someone

who loves a gossip, a sponsored silence may be

an amusing way to raise some funds for our

animals.

Pub quiz Getting together with your friends down the

local pub is a great way to raise awareness of

our sanctuary and some much needed funds.

Get yourselves into teams, order some food and

take part in an animal related quiz!

6

Talent competition Why not organise a talent competition at your

local social club? If you love Britain’s Got Talent,

you are sure to enjoy an evening of watching a

variety of local talent for a good cause. Add a

raffle for extra cash and serve some light

refreshments during the interval. We are happy

to help you with promoting the event. Just call

our office on 01633 866144.

Host a live Facebook video Instead of hiring a venue and worrying about

logistics, how about hosting a live video

challenge or a ‘Ready, steady...cook?’ Where

participants can join in or watch from the

comfort of their own home! Add the link to your

JustGiving page and remind people throughout

your video/challenge to donate online.

Get crafty...

Do you enjoy creating homewares, accessories

or jewellery? Are you a budding artist? You could

sell your items and donate a percentage of each

sale to our sanctuary.

Fitness Fest Hire a hall and an instructor and have lots of fun

with friends!

Man vs food challenge If you love food and you love a

competition, this will be a fun and

entertaining way to fundraise with your

friends and family!

Photo challenge Start a social media photo challenge,

such as a picture of your pet as a baby

and nominate your friends to do the

same! Don’t forget to use the hashtag

#allcreaturesgreatandsmall

You never know...it may go viral!

Put on a play If you know or are part of a local

amateur dramatics group, then running

a pantomime or a comedy would be a

great way to show off your talents in

aid of our animal care department.

Guessing games Play ‘Name the Teddy’ or ‘How Many

Sweets Are in the Jar’ £1-00 a go and

the winner gets a prize!

Hold a raffle Get donations of prizes and hold a

raffle at work or local events. For

more information regarding holding

raffles visit the Gambling Commission

website at:

www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk

Curb the vice!

If there is a food or drink you are

addicted to, such as chocolate or wine,

try giving it up for a month and get

family and friends to sponsor you.

How you are helping to make a difference...

All Creatures Great and Small is a small charity that

relies heavily on the generosity of our supporters as we

receive no government funding. Unlike larger scale

charities, we have a very small team working hard to

raise the £30,000 per month that is needed to run the

sanctuary.

Our animals come from a variety of backgrounds

including abandonment, neglect and sometimes abuse.

We are proud to offer high quality care, rehabilitation

and rehoming programmes. Without YOU, we would

not be able to continue helping the hundreds of animals

in need.

Every pound you make for us is greatly appreciated and

allows us to continue campaigning for animal welfare

awareness and creating a bright future for the sanctuary

and all of its animals.

Twiggy— Twiggy the miniature Shetland was brought to

us when her owner was unable to continue caring for

her. Her previous owner rescued her from poor

conditions and neglect. We have now introduced

Twiggy to her new home and pony friends and she

receives high quality care daily.

Chance - This loveable Lurcher was found on the

streets, extremely emaciated and covered in sores. We

knew that there was no time to lose and our dedicated

animal team worked hard to give Chance the best

possible care, nursing him back to full health ready for

his forever home.

Eric and Ernie– The alpaca duo were brought to us

when we stepped in to offer help to a fellow sanctuary

who were sadly closing down. They are now living out

their days happily on our picturesque nine and a half

acre site.
