FUNDRAISING PACK - SKY DIVE
Are you an adrenalin junkie? Want to soar like a bird? Or just ready
to face the plunge? Well a charity Skydive is for you!
A skydive is a popular and effective way to raise funds for East African Playgrounds. Placing yourself
in an unfamiliar and challenging environment will provide you with plenty of scope to encourage
financial pledges from family, friends and work colleagues. If you are considering a charity skydive
but unsure of how it all works then read our guide. Our aim is to provide you with all the information
you need to start raising money for East African Playgrounds.
Cost of Skydive?
The majority of companies that offer charity skydiving jumps require you to raise a minimum
amount. This can vary between £300-500. The company will then give at least £140 of this to your
chosen charity with the remainder used to cover the actual cost of the jump. If you raise more cash
than their minimum requirements then the excess also gets given to the charity.
How do I raise money?
Use a mixture of online and offline fundraising techniques. You should start by approaching friends,
family and work colleagues to persuade them to sponsor the jump. It is also worth setting up a
Facebook event to further promote East African Playgrounds and hopefully raise more cash for the
skydive. We will give you lots of tips to maximising your fundraising.
Do I need Skydiving Experience?
Certainly not, most people who take part in charity skydives opt for a tandem jump. A tandem
skydive is the best and easiest way to experience the thrill of skydiving. You will experience free-
falling at 120mpg but without the need to attend any lessons. Your instructor will take care of
everything from parachute deployment right through to the landing. All you need to do is enjoy it
and think of all the money you are raising for charity.
Are the any age limits for a charity Skydive?
In the UK, the minimum age is 16. If you are planning on a charity skydive and you are under 18 then
you must gain consent from a parent or guardian. There is no upper age limit so don't use your age
as an excuse!
Can I bring spectators?
The majority of skydiving centres allow you to bring guests along to watch. Why not invite some of
your sponsors so they can see you hurl yourself out a plane at 14,000 feet? If people are only willing
to pay once you have completed the jump, bringing them along is a great way to get them cough up
the cash there and then.
A charity skydive is an exhilarating and challenging way to raise cash for East African Playgrounds.
So what are you waiting for? Start fundraising now!
Thank you for your support. Every deep breath you take, every
metre you fall and the big scream you make on the way down will
go a long way in improving the development of children in East
Africa through the use of play.
