More refrigerating capacity and lower power consumption – this is the motto of the new mexxFlow valve plate, which forms the heart of the new GEA compressor generations.

Concerning the increase in energy efficiency of semi- hermetic reciprocating compressors, one focus of compres-sor manufacturers has always been the valve plate system. It is necessary to release the energy, which is applied by an electric motor, efficiently to the refrigerating circuit. GEA has also put its focus of continuous development on reciprocating compressors on the valve plate system – the mexxFlow valve plate is the result of our continious pro-gress.

GEA was successful in increasing the efficiency of its compressors by around 20 %. This success was achieved through a flow-optimized double ring fin construction of the valve plate in combination with a cylinder head, which is specially adapted to the valve plate. Thus, open as well as semi-hermetic GEA Bock compressors achieve records in terms of efficiency.

Mehr Kälteleistung bei gleichzeitig geringerer Leistungs-aufnahme – so lautet die Formel der mexxFlow Ventilplat-te, die das Herzstück der neuen GEA Verdichtergeneratio-nen darstellt.

Wenn es darum geht, die Energieeffizienz von halbherme-tischen Hubkolbenverdichtern zu steigern, liegt seit jeher ein Fokus der Verdichterhersteller auf dem Ventilsystem. Gilt es doch hier die mittels Elektromotor aufgebrachte En-ergie möglichst effizient an den Kältekreislauf abzugeben. Auch GEA hat ihren Fokus der permanenten Weiterent-wicklung an Hubkolbenverdichtern auf das Ventilsystem gelegt – die mexxFlow Ventilplatte spiegelt das Ergebnis dieser Entwicklungsarbeit wider.

GEA ist es gelungen durch eine strömungstechnisch per-fektionierte Doppelringlamellen-Konstruktion der Ventil-platte in Kombination mit einem speziell auf die Ventil-platte zugeschnittenen Zylinderkopf die Effizienz seiner Verdichter um rund 20 % zu steigern. Damit erreichen offene sowie halbhermetische GEA Bock Verdichter Best-marken in Punkto Effizienz.

Natürliche Kältemittel

Seit 2006 regelt die F-Gase-Verordnung (EG) Nr. 842/2006 den Einsatz von Fluorkohlenwasserstoffen (FKW) in kühl-technischen Systemen. Die Emissionen in die Atmosphäre müssen begrenzt werden, da FKW durch ihre wärmeab-sorbierenden Eigenschaften eine Ursache des Treibhaus-effekts und der globalen Klimaerwärmung darstellen.Mit Beginn des Jahres 2015 gilt die neue F-Gase-Verord-nung EU 517/2014. Planer, Anlagenbauer, Installateure und Betreiber müssen sich dabei umstellen: Stärker denn je sind ihre Wahlmöglichkeiten beim Einsatz von Kälte-mitteln von der neuen Regelung betroffen. Die sieht ei-ne grundlegende Abkehr von Kältemitteln mit hohem Treibhauseffekt vor. Der Ausstoß an teilhalogenierten Fluorkohlenwasserstoffen (HFKW) soll bis 2030 auf ein Fünftel der von 2009 bis 2012 angefallenen Durch-schnittsmenge sinken. Geräte für Kältemittel mit hohem Treibhauspotenzial dürfen schon in absehbarer Zeit nicht mehr in Verkehr gebracht werden, das Nachfüllen bestehender Anlagen wird Restriktionen unterworfen.

Natural refrigerants

Since 2006 the F-gas Regulation (EC) No 842/2006 has be-en governing the use of fluorinated hydrocarbons (CFC) in technical refrigeration systems. The reason why emis-sions into the atmosphere must be kept within limits is that the heat-absorbing properties of CFC represent a cau-se of the greenhouse effect and global climate warming.From the beginning of 2015, the new F-gas Regulation EU 517/2014 is effective. Planners, manufacturers, implemen-ters and operators of refrigeration systems must undergo considerable reorientation. The new directive narrows their choice of applicable refrigerants more than ever, marking a fundamental turn away from refrigerants with a high greenhouse effect. The goal set for the year 2030 is to reduce emissions of partly fluorinated hydrocarbons (HCFC) to a fifth of the average output 2009–2012. Alrea-dy in the near future, equipment for refrigerants with high greenhouse potential will be banned from the mar-ket, and refilling of existing systems will be subjected to restrictions.

CO2 compressors transcritical

Since the beginning of the 90‘s, GEA is engaged in the development of compressors for the transcritical CO2 process.The series has been extended by one greater compressor in the range of the 4- and 6-cylinder reciprocating com-pressors. The new HG46 CO2T is currently the biggest se-mi-hermetic reciprocating compressor for CO2 transcri-tical applications available on the market and convinces with its size (displacement from 21.8 to 38.2 m3/h) and its outstanding COP (coefficient of performance).

Seit Anfang der 90er Jahre beschäftigt sich GEA mit der Entwicklung von Verdichtern für den transkritischen CO2 Prozess.Die Baureihe wurde nun um jeweils einen größeren Ver-dichter im Bereich der 4- und 6-Zylinder Hubkolbenver-dichter erweitert. Der neue HG46 CO2T ist der derzeit der größte halbhermetische Hubkolbenverdichter für transkritische CO2 Anwendungen auf dem Markt und überzeugt neben seiner Größe (Hubvolumen von 21,8 bis 38,2 m3/h) auch durch einen herausragenden COP (coef-ficient of performance).

Based on our current semi-hermetic product range, with its outstanding advantages and features, as well as our established basic range of CO2 compressors, an optimi-zed, downward extended capacity stage is now available for subcritical CO2 applications. The compressors are es-pecially suited to supermarket refrigeration applications and industrial refrigeration.

With technical optimizations we continuously improve the energy consumption of our compressors. The com-pressors of the e-series set a new standard when it comes to motor-efficiency, gas flow and efficiency of the valve sy-stem. All this results in a higher refrigerating capacity of the compressor at a lower drive power. In addition, the limits of applications were extended to a condensing tem-perature of 15 °C and an evaporation temperature of -15 °C.

Die Verdichter der e-Serie setzen hinsichtlich Motoren- Wirkungsgrad, Gasströmung und Effizienz des Ventilsy-stems einen neuen Maßstab. For various applications, such as the field of supermarket refrigeration, hydrocarbons have established themselves as another natural alternative besides CO2. Due to the flammability of hydrocarbons the compressor has some safety related modifications.

Für zahlreiche Anwendungen, wie beispielsweise im Su-permarktbereich haben sich in den vergangenen Jahren Kohlenwasserstoffe als weitere natürliche Alternative ne-ben CO2 etabliert. Auf Grund der Brennbarkeit der Koh-lenwasserstoffe bedarf es jedoch sicherheitsrelevanter Modifikationen des Verdichters.

mexxFlow valve plate

More refrigerating capacity and lower power consumption – this is the motto of the new mexxFlow valve plate, which forms the heart of the new GEA compressor generations.

Concerning the increase in energy efficiency of reciproca-ting compressors, one focus of compressor manufacturers has always been on the valve plate system. It is necessary to release the energy, which is applied by an electric mo-tor, efficiently to the refrigerating circuit. GEA has also put its focus of continuous development of reciprocating com-pressors on the valve plate system – the mexxFlow valve plate reflects the result of this development work.

GEA was successful in increasing the efficiency of its compressors by around 20 %. This success was achieved through a flow-optimized double ring fin construction of the valve plate in combination with a cylinder head, which is specially adapted to the valve plate. Thus, open as well as semi-hermetic GEA Bock compressors achieve records in terms of efficiency.

Mehr Kälteleistung bei gleichzeitig geringerer Leistungs-aufnahme – so lautet die Formel der mexxFlow Ventilplat-te, die das Herzstück der neuen GEA Verdichtergeneratio-nen darstellt.

Wenn es darum geht, die Energieeffizienz von Hubkolben-verdichtern zu steigern, liegt seit jeher ein Fokus der Ver-dichterhersteller auf dem Ventilsystem. Gilt es doch hier die mittels Elektromotor aufgebrachte Energie möglichst effizient an den Kältekreislauf abzugeben. Auch GEA hat ihren Fokus der permanenten Weiterentwicklung an Hubkolbenverdichtern auf das Ventilsystem gelegt – die mexxFlow Ventilplatte spiegelt das Ergebnis dieser Ent-wicklungsarbeit wider.

GEA ist es gelungen durch eine strömungstechnisch per-fektionierte Doppelringlamellen-Konstruktion der Ventil-platte in Kombination mit einem speziell auf die Ventil-platte zugeschnittenen Zylinderkopf die Effizienz seiner Verdichter um rund 20 % zu steigern. Damit erreichen offene sowie halbhermetische GEA Bock Verdichter Best-marken in Punkto Effizienz.

VAP Compressor selection program

The GEA Bock compressor selection software supports you in searching the suitable compressor or rather condensing unit for your application. On the basis of the searched re-frigerating capacity and operating condition (refrigerant, evaporation and condensing temperature) suitable com-pressors will be found. Furthermore the software provi-des additional information on the chosen compressor (e. g. technical data, scope of supply & accessoires, measures etc.).

The compressor selection program is available as webbased online-version as well as offline-version for installation on the computer.

Anhand der gesuchten Kälteleistung und Betriebsbedingung (Käl-temittel, Verdampfungs- und Verflüssigungstemparatur) werden geeignete Verdichter gefunden.
