H.R. 1892 is the only bill that sufficiently addresses the
problem at hand. Tis legislation would permanently
legalize the ability o consumers to unlock their own phones, and
or third parties to help or develop tools todo so. Te bill also
protects accessibility technology or the blind and dea by allowing
the use o technologiesor non-piracy and copyright purposes
maintaining Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)protections.
Tis is a basic issue o property rights. I you own your own
phone, it is your right to switch carriers, installyour own
sofware, and call whomever you choose. I nothing is done, new and
innovative technologicalsolutions will increasingly all under the
control o the Librarian o Congress, setting harmul precedence orthe
uture o the wireless market. We ask you to give these bills their
deserved vote in the House and Senate.
