Introduction
This correspondence presents our reporting of the preliminary geotechnical exploration program for the referenced project. Our work was performed in accordance with our contractual agreement.
Site Conditions & Description
The project site is located northwest of the intersection of Medary Avenue and 11th Street on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. The current site features include lawn/landscaping, sidewalks, gravel surfacing and asphalt pavement. Several existing buildings are also located at the site. Ground surface elevations at the test boring locations were determined by using the top of the fire hydrant located approximately 175 feet northwest of the northwest corner of the existing Agricultural Heritage Museum. An arbitrary elevation of 100.0 feet was used for the benchmark. Based on the benchmark datum, the surface elevations at the test boring locations varied from 94.1 feet at test boring 7 to 102.4 feet at test boring 1. A site sketch is attached at the conclusion of this report showing the relative location of the test borings. Field Data
Eight (8) test borings were performed at the project site on November 1, 2012. The logs of the test holes are attached. The subsurface conditions encountered at the test boring locations consisted of 2
