THE IDEA WAS SOUND: A high school on the West Coast committed itself to a mobile technology initiative. At the end of the rollout, the school had distributed approximately 6,000 computers to high school teachers, principalsand technology coordinators.

THE PRIMARY GOAL: To further the school’s objective of integrating technology in all of its educational processes to advance student learning. Unfortunately, the plan did not include professional development into account for the teachers, principals and IT staff.

THE RESULT: Many educators were slow to adopt the wireless technology in the classroom because they weren't trained on how to utilize their new notebooksas a teaching and learning tool. In addition, the IT staff wasn't prepared to support the new wireless infrastructure.

A BETTER SOLUTION: Engage DellTM professional development to teach educatorsand administrators how to use the new technology effectively and provide training to the IT staff on how to support the new wireless infrastructure.
