Get your Toddler into eating Healthy The whole unhealthy eating situation gets even worse when children get involved after looking at the bad eating habits of adults. Childhood obesity is on the rise and schools are trying their level best to fight it by involving children with regular exercise during school hours and by making sure that children find at least one sport to participate in. Dubai is not too far away from the US when it comes to fast food consumption. The numbers are impressive and we all love to eat out. Traditional Arabic cuisine is loaded with calories so indulging in any of those more than once a week will definitely not help your diet plan. Do we all have a craving for fattening foods? Is it that we love to eat tasty foods? Or do we simply follow suit? Or is it that we are too lazy to prepare something healthy and do not care about our bodies? Well the answer to all those questions is sadly, a YES. There is a limit to which the human body can keep consuming fatty foods, a normal human being’s digestive system can only take in that much meat and oil and can convert them into something positive that is good for the body. Surprisingly our bodies do not work that hard when it comes to junk food; meaning that it won’t burn all the fat until it really runs out of options. So the only answer to the fat problem is good exercise. Regular exercise, whether it involves taking the stairs to the office on the top floor; or cycling after work or on your way to work; really goes a long way. It helps you burn everything that you eat, getting rid of the excess fat. Sadly though, many people think that our bodies will not take a beating and that we can keep consuming junk food till they grow old. The only solution to fight the habit of eating unhealthy food is when parents practise eating healthy foods at home themselves; setting an example for toddlers and preschoolers to follow. Children always imitate adults which is why it is necessary to set the right example even if you are really not into healthy eating; for the sake of your children.

Childhood obesity is at an all time high. If you think that your child is obese, there are two reasons for the same: lack of physical activity; and an unhealthy diet loaded with snacks. Childhood obesity in this age of fast food and busy work lives are hard for parents to fight. However, parents can take a couple of simple precautions to ensure that their children do not put on that excess weight, especially at this age.

Always encourage healthy eating habits at home

Children learn by example so set the right one for them and they will follow what you do.

Go out for a stroll in the in the evening with kids on work days

Interact and make time for your children; ask them about them their day (will help beat stress both for you and your child)

Make fruits easily accessible around the house (children will pick them up instead of that pack of Oreo’s on the kitchen counter)

Ensure that your children have a minimum of an hour’s worth of play with a board game at home (board games are good for family bonding and utilizes the mind helping kids and parents lose calories)

Reduce TV time; ensure that they have enough activity and that in turn will deliver deep restful sleep

Ensure that your preschool or children’s nursery in Dubai have fun exercises for the kids in their daily schedule.

If you are determined and follow the above points, your kids will be fit in no time and will even lead a healthier lifestyle, giving them more self-confidence and thinking positive as they grow up.
