OUR STORYTed Dennard was about 12 yearsold when he met Roy Hightower, abeekeeper who was looking to placebeehives on his family’s 100-acreforest retreat. Roy cautioned, “Son,these bees can become a way of life.” Ted’s passion for bees continuedthrough his years in college atSewanee, and then he went onto teach beekeeping with thePeace Corps in Jamaica.

A friend opening a new store indowntown Savannah, GA convincedhim to bottle and sell his honey inher store. Soon, more and morestores called wanting to sell Ted’shoney and lip balms. Ted made theleap from working out of his

kitchen to officially startingSavannah Bee Company in 2002.

In October 2008, Savannah Beeopened its first retail store indowntown Savannah. Since thenSavannah Bee has continued toexpand its offerings of award-winning honey and beehive-inspired beauty productsavailable at stores around theworld and online.

INGREDIENTS:• 2 cups sautéed kale

• 1 cup cooked quinoa• 1/2 cup cooked kidney beans

• 1/2 cup chickpeas• 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced

• 8 grape tomatoes, halved• 1 grilled Black Sage Honey-
