EU and European Standards Organizations are strengthening

the links between research/innovation and standardization

o For example, the European Commission states in regard

to the EU 2020 Strategy1that Standards play an

important role for innovation

Standardization strategy should be defined already at the

beginning of the research and innovation process

o and not in the end!

Research and standardization should go hand in hand

and EFTA Initiative to promote the Integrated Approach andprovide

Overall goal: to maximize the economic and social benefit

of new ideas and technologies

To bring NSBs and the research & innovation community

together, and to foster the collaboration between NSBs
