Girl Scout History When: 1912

By Who: Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia

It was started during a time when women were left home due to the war. Elderly women or sickly women that could not tend to their homes the Girl Scouts would volunteer to help.

They taught other women how to grow, can and store their own food.

They taught others how to mend clothes and make due with what they had.

They had their own signals and communication when talking from distances across lakes or ponds or rivers.

Girl Scouts were the ones that made towns more inviting and made the communities a better place for all.

Girl Scouts even took part in politics as they knew their rights and laws that no other woman at the time knew.
