Get Busy At Brigade Road Busy from sunrise to sunset, Brigade Road catches one's attention and is one of the 6 cheap places to shop in Bangalore. Bangalore Palace Once surrounded by beautiful gardens, the palace has now lost much of its original charm. However, it still succeeds in attracting tourists. Fortified towers, Gothic windows, battlements and turrets lend a great degree of magnificence to the Bangalore Palace of India. Mainly constructed of wood, it boasts of splendid carvings and paintings. Today the palace serves as the venue for various exhibitions, concerts and cultural programs held in the city. The ground floor of the Bangalore Palace comprises of a massive open square.

Vidhan Soudha Vidhana Soudha counts amongst the most impressive as well as the most magnificent buildings in the Bangalore city of India. It is mainly famous for housing the Legislative Chambers of the state government. The three hundred rooms of Vidhan Soudha accommodate approximately twenty-two departments of the state government. The building rises to a height of almost 46 m, making it one of the most imposing structures in the city of Bangalore.

Coorg Welcome to Coorg, which is also known as Kodagu. The misty hills, lush teakwood and sandalwood forests, and acres of tea and coffee plantations of Kodagu are, in a word, stunning. Also known as Coorg and dubbed "The Scotland of India," Kodagu is a postcard-perfect region of scattered villages and hamlets, which are the epitome of old-world charm. Kodagu is ideal for outdoor activities such as trekking, angling and white-water rafting, and major festivals like Keil Poldu (worship of weapons), Cauvery Shankaramana (return of the river goddess) and the Huttari (harvest) festival are a huge draw.

CHANNAPATNA Famous for its eponymous toys, Channapatna is a great place to visit if you are curious to know how these wooden toys are made. This traditional craft is protected. The small town has a few factories and a few home workshops where you can watch craftsmen at work. While at Channapatna, you also can shop to your heart’s content for souvenirs. History of Channapatana The history of the toys of Channapatana can be traced back to the time of Tipu Sultan. Tipu Sultan had encouraged the Persians to come down to India to teach the artisans the art of making wooden toys. The Father of Channapatana toy is Bavas Miyan, known for his commitment to life to help the local artisans with the art of toy making and bringing in new technologies to improvise the toys in Channapatana. Channapatana Toys – The art of Making Channapatna town is popular for the cute and the impeccable craftsmanship depicted in these toys. The toys are made with wood mainly ivory wood giving a polished look to the wooden toys adding colors and another beautification. On the streets of the Channapatana, one can witness the numerous wooden toys displayed all along the road side shops. Big banners are hoisted showcasing the talent of the town. The classy and the creativity are on the high end in these small-scale industries. The skilled artisans work in their small spaces and build these elegant toys. Channapatna toys are made of wood and vegetable dyes and are safe to be used unlike the toys available in the market.

Madikeri Fort Built in the 17th century, Madikeri fort is among the most popular places to visit in Madikeri. The Fort was built in the 17th century by Mudduraja and was renovated by Lingarajendra Wodeyar II in 1812-1814. Two life size masonry elephants on the north-east corner at the entrance and a church in the south-east corner are some of the attractions within the fort. The view of the city from the top of the fort is simply magnificent.

Omkareshwara Temple Displaying Islamic as well as Gothic style of architecture is the Omkareshwar temple, located in the main town of Madikeri. Built by Lingarajendra in the year 1820, the temple has various historical and mythical legends associated with it. There is a tank in front of the temple and a footpath leading to a small "Mantap". The bars of the windows of the temple were made of Panchaloha and an alphabet lim has been placed in between the bars. It is a popular religious spot in the town.

Raja’s Seat Raja's seat is in the western end of Madikeri is a seasonal garden of flowers and artificial fountains and offers great views of the hills and the valley below. The place is popular for its magnificent sunrise and sunset views along with the far stretching Blue Mountains. This beautiful hilltop offers spectacular view of the Coorg Valley studded with paddy fields and forests. A toy train ride, fountain show and few food stalls are also available inside the garden.

Gaddige Raja’s Tomb A historical structure, Raja’s tomb aka Gaddige in Madikeri is a beautiful structure extremely popular among the history buffs. The tomb boasts of the indo-sarcenic style of architecture and the most popular attraction here is the mortal remains of the Kodavad royalty and the court dignitaries. There are many other tombs of famous historical personalities as well. This attraction is located just 1 km from Madikeri.

Abbey Falls Dropping from a height of 70 feet, Abbey Falls is one of the prime attractions in Madikeri located at a distance of 7 km from the main town. Tucked away between private coffee and spice estates, Abbey Falls offers a splendid backdrop for picnics. The falls can be reached by a narrow road from Madikeri. Cars can reach the entrance of these falls from where a downhill walk of 500 mt (on slightly paved steps) takes one to the waterfalls. These falls are most impressive during the monsoons. Swimming is not recommended.

Mysore Welcome to Mysore, the cultural capital of Karnataka and the second largest city in the state is a famous tourist destination in South India known for its opulent and royal ambience. Also called Mysuru, the city was earlier the capital of the Wodeyar rulers. The Wodeyar rulers were great patrons of art and culture, which you can see in the rich heritage of the city. Mysore city is also known for proximity to several other places of interest such as Srirangapatna, Krishna Raj Sagra dam and Sivasamudram falls. In addition to its numerous attractions, the Mysore city is also known for sandalwood products and the Dasara festival (Navaratri) held every year. The Mysore Dasara is famous far and wide and attracts people from all parts. Located in the tropics, the Mysore has a moderate climate. Travel to Mysore and explore the different facets of the cultural capital of Karnataka state!

Tibetan Monastery The Tibetan Monastery or the Tibet Camp as locally called is located around 6 kms from Kushalnagar town towards Mysore. This Tibetan settlement at Bailkoppa or Baylkuppe is the the second largest Tibetan settlement outside Tibet. There are over 7,000 monks and students at the Tibetan monastery. After the Chinese took over Tibet, the refugees were settled at Bylkuppe near Kushalnagar and the Buddhist Monastery was re-established here in 1972. It houses over 7,000 monks and students today. The monastery not only attracts large number of young Tibetans seeking enlightenment and education, but also draws huge tourists from all over India and abroad.

Dubare Elephant Camp Dubare Elephant Camp is located on the banks of River Cauvery in the district of Kodagu in Karnataka. The Karnataka Forest Department has about 150 Elephants in various camps and Dubare has been historically an important camp. Dubare Elephant Camp beckons wildlife enthusiasts as well as travelers. The greatest charm of this place you can get close to the indisputable King of the jungle. Dubare is the perfect destination for the tourists to get an adventurous stay and a memorable fun trip. Dubare offers to its visitor’s fun, fishing, rafting and trekking in the wild hilly terrains.

Mysore Palace

The Palace of Mysore (also known as the Amba Vilas Palace) is a historical palace in the city of Mysore in Karnataka, southern

India. It is the official residence and seat of the Wodeyars — the Maharajas of Mysore, the former royal family of Mysore, who

ruled the princely state of Mysore from 1350 to 1950. The palace houses two durbar halls (ceremonial meeting halls of the royal

court) and incorporates a mesmerizing and gigantic array of courtyards, gardens, and buildings. The palace is in the central

region of inner Mysore, facing the Chamundi Hills eastward.

Shopping The city of palaces is also renowned for its sandalwood products, silk sarees, and craftwork. When in Mysore it is customary to

visit the local shops and purchase a few of these. Few of the best places to drop to shop are Government Silk Weaving Factory,

Sandalwood Oil Factory and Cauvery Arts & Crafts Emporium. The Government Silk Weaving Factory was set up in 1912 and is

the best and cheapest place to shop for the exclusive textile. Behind the showroom is the factory, where you can drop by to see

how the fabric is made. It’s around two Km south of town. Sandalwood Oil Factory is quality-assured place for sandalwood

products including incense, soap, cosmetics and the prohibitively expensive pure sandalwood oil (if in stock). Guided tours are

available to show you around the factory. Cauvery Arts & Crafts Emporium is located close to the Mysore palace and is a one

stop shop for both sandalwood and silk products.

Mysore Zoo

Mysore Zoo (officially the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens) is a 157-acre zoo located near the palace in Mysore, India. It

is one of the oldest and most popular zoos in India, and is home to a wide range of species (168-species). Mysore Zoo is one of

the city’s most popular attractions.

St. Philomena's Church This Roman Catholic Church was built in AD 1840. It was initially known as St. Joseph Chaver which later assumed the present name. The twin towers of the church stand majestically at 175 feet, the design is gothic and it is said to resemble the St. Patrick’s cathedral at New York and a church at Cologne. The church is located about I km from Mysuru Palace on the Bangalore highway. The then king of Mysuru Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV laid the foundation for construction of the church in 1933. It has been designed a French Architect. The stained glass windows, made in France, overlooking the apse, showing the Birth of Christ, Baptism of Christ by St.John the last supper and the crucifixion of Christ are works of art. The altar bears the statue of St.Philomina a 3rd century saint from Greece. This church is considered to be the most beautiful in Karnataka. The church has a celler where there is a statue of St.Philomina was a holy saint during the 3rd ventury in Greece, in a reclining posture. A piece of her bone and cloths are in this church.

Chamundeshwari Temple

The Chamundeshwari Temple is located on the top of Chamundi Hills about 13 km from the palace city of Mysore in the state

of Karnataka in India. The temple was named after Chamundeshwari or Durga, the fierce form of Shakti, a tutelary deity held in

reverence for centuries by Mysore Maharajas.

Brindavan Garden

The Brindavana Gardens is a garden located in the state of Karnataka in India. It lies adjoining the Krishnarajasagara dam which

is built across the river Kaveri. The work on laying out this garden was started in the year 1927 and completed in 1932. Visited by

close to 2 million tourists per year, the garden is one of the major attractions of Srirangapatna.

BANDIPUR Established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger, is a national park located in the south Indian state of Karnataka. It was once a private hunting reserve for the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Mysore, now it is upgraded as Bandipur tiger reserve. Bandipur is known for its wildlife and has many types of biomes, but dry deciduous forest is dominant.

Bandipur Sightseeing: Forest safari in Bandipur National Park

Bandipur National Park Bandipur National Park is regarded as one of the most beautiful and the better-managed national parks of India. Located amidst the picturesque surroundings of the towering Western Ghat Mountains on the Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka, Bandipur National Park covers an area of about 874.2 sq km. Together with Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala and Nagarhole National Park in the North, it creates the India's biggest biosphere reserve popularly known as the 'Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve'. The Bandipur National Park occupies a special place in India's efforts towards Eco-conservation. Bandipur also has a sizable number of Tigers. Other natural inhabitants of this lovely forest are gaur (a type of bull), sambhar, chital, mouse deer, four-horned antelope, wild dogs, wild boar, jackal, sloth bear, panther, malabar squirrel, porcupines and the black-knapped hare. Birds like jungle fowl and green pigeon are also found here.

2 NIGHTS KABINI

KABINI One of the best wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka, the Kabini Wildlife Sanctuary was once a private hunting area for the British. Today, it attracts tourists from all over. It is a must see for all nature lovers and those looking for a perfect vacation amidst the lush greenery and imposing waterfalls. Kabini has in store hints of various elements of nature, be it a huge variety in the plantation, abundance of wildlife ranging from carnivores to mammals to birds or the terrain where each type is a part of and a compliment to the other. Kabini has a lot to offer right from the Jungle Safari, boating to trekking in Nagarhole Forest. The Jungle Safari is a great opportunity to experience the essence of this place and appreciate the humungous amount of flora and fauna spread across. Elephant Safari is a fun way to get close with the wildlife in Kabini. Also, boating down the Kabini river is an experience which is one of a kind. Kabini National Park (or Kabini Wildlife Sanctuary) is a popular wildlife destination of South India, located in the state of Karnataka. On the banks of one of its prime attraction, Kabini River, one can easily spot wild animals like elephants and tigers. The national park is located on the southern-eastern part of Nagarhole National Park and covers an area of 55 acres of forestland, water-bodies and steep valleys.
