PROPOSAL

TheGeneralConferenceYouthMinistriesDepartmenthasconsultedwiththe13

Divisionyouthdirectors,theGMEU,andtheIsraelfieldandhasreceivedoverwhelming

supportforadoptingaGlobalYouthDay.

Sabbath,March16,2013hasbeenchosenasitmarksthebeginningoftheYouthWeek

ofPrayerglobally.AlthoughsomeDivisionsoftheworldfieldhosttheirYouthWeekof

Prayeratadifferenttimeoftheyear,theywillstilluniteasoneonthatdayfora

commonpurpose.

OBJECTIVES

TheobjectivesofGlobalYouthDayareto:

1. RecapturetherealityoftheSeventh-dayAdventistYouthasaGlobalMovement;2. Leadouryouthtorediscoverthesenseofbelongingtoaglobalarmy;3. RepositionMissionattheheartofGlobalYouthMinistry;4. Provideamuchneededpositiveandconstructiveresponsetoperceived

fragmentation.

GroundedintheconcludingwordsofJesusintheparableoftheGoodSamaritan,Go

anddolikewise(Luke10:25-37),thethemeoftheGlobalYouthDaywillbe

ONEINCOMPASSION

EightmillionAdventistyouthswillbemobilizedonthestreetsofourvillages,towns,and

citiesaroundtheworldtobethehandsandfeetofJesusthroughactsofkindness.A

Simple,Global,andRelevantstrategyhasbeendevised.

STRATEGY

OnSabbath,March16,2013,youthwillhearonelesssermoninthemorning.THEYwill

bethesermon.TheywillstepoutofthebuildingtobetheChurchandreachoutinthe

nameofJesus.

TherewillbesixelementstoGlobalYouthDay:

1. Youngpeoplefromlocalchurches,regions,orConferences/MissionswillmeetforatimeofconsecrationbeforespendingthebestpartofSabbathreachingout

inlocalcommunities.

2. TheywillbeinvolvedinSabbathfriendlyactsofkindnessthatwillhavebeenchosenandplannedforinadvance.

3. Toprovideafocusforthedayaftertheirdiverseactsofkindness,youthsaroundtheworldwilldonatebloodasthesymboloftheultimatelife-savingactof

compassion.

4. Tocompletethedaysactivities,youngpeoplewillcongregateintheirlocalchurches,regions,orConferences/Missionsforatimeofworshipandsharingof

experiencestomarkthebeginningoftheWeekofPrayer,whichisbasedon

Mission&Service.

5. Youthsaroundtheworldwillbeconnectedthroughtechnologyandlivecoverageasstorieslightuptheworldprogressivelythroughthedifferenttime

zones.

6. AspeciallydesignedT-shirtwillprovideidentificationwiththeglobalinitiative.

TheGlobalYouthDaywillbeanannualeventwithadifferentemphasiseachyear.

TheGlobalYouthDaywillrepositionyouthatthecenteroftheChurchslifeand

Mission.Ithasthepotentialofbeingthedawnofyouthministrysfinesthour.
