THE ROAD TO GOLF SUCCESS STARTS HERE Hi. My name is Dr. Kilstein. And I would like to thank you for purchasing Golfer’s Mind. Now I don’t know how you have heard about Golfer’s Mind. Maybe you got a letter from me, or maybe you saw it on the Internet, or maybe a friend told you about it. There are a lot of products that people buy that hype themselves but then when you look at it, it is not really worth the hype. Well, this product is just the opposite. Everything I told you about this product was an understatement. You see, there is an amazing secret that Tiger and all the other pros use, but they want to keep regular golfers from learning. It adds yards and accuracy to your drive. It is going to eliminate hooks and slices. It sinks those impossible putts. And it is going to put your game on autopilot consistency in just about two hours. Now, these techniques work like magic, but almost nobody knows about it. Now, you are going to ask yourself how can something so simple be so powerful and so secret at the same time? Well, that is the way the pros like it. Now, I never thought that I was going to be in a studio recording my golf secrets. There is an embarrassing story that goes along with it. See, a number of years ago, I began to work with a client who I will just call Mr. X. Mr. X was an incredible golf nut. If there was a new piece of golf equipment, he bought it. If there was a lesson to be taken, he took it. He bought every single device that you see in the back of Golf Magazine or Golf Digest, Golf Instruction. If it was going to improve his swing, he got it. If it was going to add yards to his drive, he bought it. I think every TV in his house was set to the Golf Channel. And yet, his game was inconsistent. And from a friend, he heard about me. He was desperate. He wanted his game to improve in the worst way. And now, those days are over. Now you have probably never heard of me. You have never seen me at a golf tournament. But I am there. My colleagues and I were at the Masters in Augusta. We were at the US Open. We were at St. Jude, Pebble Beach. Wherever our elite clients go, that is where we are. Now, we never appear in public. We never reveal our secrets beyond a circle of pros and seriously dedicated golfers who can pay some Rolls Royce fees. So, we are not for everyone. And that is why most golfers do not have any idea about the information that is in these CDs. You are going to learn why your mind can ruin your game or make you a winner. And with a few simple tricks, you are going to learn how to change your golf game forever. You are going to learn why you play so well in practice, but blow it on the course. You are going to learn how to control your nerves at the tee. You are going to learn how your scores can become consistent, hole after hole. Round after round.

Page 3: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn how to shave six strokes from your game, even if you do not have time to practice. You are going to learn why your game has always gotten worse when there is money riding on it. You are going to learn why the advice that every pro has given you about how to treat hazards on the course was dead wrong. Now your golf game is going to change pretty much overnight. It may seem like magic, but it is not magic at all. You see, what my clients learn in master is what the great golf teacher, Jim Flick, once said. “Golf is 90 percent mental, and the other 10 percent is mental.” My clients learn to control their mind and as a result, improve their golf game overnight. My name is Dr. Harlan Kilstein, and I have been called one of the top hypno-coaches in the country. People travel from all over the world, just to train with me. And people routinely pay me up to $2,000.00 an hour to perfect their mental game, one on one. I have taken the most difficult cases and turned them around in just one session. Now you know the story. I worked with Dr. X for a long time. I really improved his game. And then he did something that totally surprised and astounded me. One day, he told me that he took every lesson that I had given him, every recording that I had made for him, every secret that I reached into my bag of tricks and handed him on a sliver platter, and he made a set of cassette tapes. And he began to sell them. I said that can’t be. Well, after about a month, we settled. I got the rights back to my own product, to my own secrets. But I began getting calls from people who I did not know, who had gotten my teachings from Mr. X. And they wanted more. And I began to think it was not fair that they should have these and you don’t. So, get ready for the most amazing learning. The most astounding improvement in your golf game since you first laced on a pair of golf shoes. Let me tell you about the set that you just obtained. You are listening to CD No. 1. I want to explain something to you. When I am talking to you, even if it seems that it is not related to golf, it is really related to golf. You see, that is the way hypnotists work. The greatest hypnotist of the 20th Century, one of my teachers, Dr. Milton Erickson, once talked to a man who was in incredible pain about how tomato plants felt good. Now the last time I checked, tomato plants did not feel anything. But the man sat there and listened to Dr. Erickson talk about tomato plants and forgot all about his pain. So if I talk to you about something that has, in your mind, nothing to do about golf, it really does. That is the way I teach. On the first two CDs, I am going to be pulling out all stops for you, revealing all of the secrets in my arsenal. You can listen to these CDs in your car. You can listen to them in your home. You can listen to them wherever you go. But CD No. 3; that is something really special. Because that is called Automatic Golf Success, and I use hypnosis. Now if you have never been to a hypnotist before, let me tell you a little bit

Page 4: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

about hypnosis. First of all, there is no chance that you are going to listen to my CD and start barking like a chicken. There is absolutely no chance that you are going to go out and run across the street and rob a bank. Or do anything silly. That is not the kind of hypnosis that I do. This hypnosis is just about golf success. Now when we get to CD No. 3, I am going to ask you to close your eyes, so it is kind of obvious that you cannot listen to CD No. 3 in a car or while operating machinery or doing any kind of work that you really need to pay attention to. (And even though you may think that the person in the car next to you is listening to CD No. 3, I am going to ask you never to listen to it in your car.) The more times you listen to CD No. 3, the more your game is going to improve. Each time you listen to it, you are going to hear something new that is going to improve your golf game. You will discover that they really are amazing golf secrets.

BELIEFS THAT ENHANCE YOUR GAME I would like to talk to you today about beliefs and I want to go with you to May 6, 1954. It’s an incredible day in sports history. That day stands in history because that was the first time ever that a human being ran the mile in under four minutes. Roger Bannister defied all logic, all beliefs. The week before he ran, a sports psychologist said that the mind would not allow the body to run a mile in under four minutes. A great doctor said that there would be so much pressure on the heart that he worried if Bannister’s heart would explode. But Bannister believed that it was possible. And he turned in one of the most amazing performances in history. But you know, what most people do not know is that less than a month later someone came along and broke the record because they already knew that it could be done. So the most important thing that we are going to be learning about are your beliefs. Your beliefs that your golf game really can improve and that I do not care whether your handicap is 36 or 3. This set is going to be the most valuable thing in your golf library.

MASTERY – THE PATH OF A WINNER So, get ready. The learning is underway. You see, our first lesson is about Mastery. I want to talk to you about what expectations are, and it is important we understand two terms. One is called “Perfection” and one is called “Mastery.” Now, you probably already know, although you might dream otherwise, that perfection is just not possible on the golf course. Tiger Woods does not shoot par all of the time. Even a great like Arnold Palmer, triple-bogies holes when he plays. Not often, but he does; or, Michael Jordan. He does not sink every basket he attempts. And when Michael Jordan is pretending to be a golfer, he certainly does not sink every put he makes. What matters is what comes next. The greatest sportsmen in the world take chances. The greatest sportsmen in the world do not always succeed. Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle; when you think of them, you think of impressive home-run-records, but they also were leaders in strikeouts because they learned to take chances, and what I would like you to learn, is that Mastery, which is our goal, is a journey, not perfection. Now, a long time ago when you were little, you learned how to walk. Did you ever watch a baby start to walk? First, they are cruising. They are holding onto furniture, they are holding onto people’s legs, to couches and things like that, and then they let go and find their balance and stuff and then down they go. You know, in all of history. a baby has never sat on the floor for long. It picks itself up and begins the learning all over again. Learning how to balance on it’s feet, taking a step, and then another, maintaining it’s balance, and then down they go; until finally, they master that little balance thing. They master walking and then they start running. Now, you have probably already taken a whole bunch of steps and you are somewhere along the path to Mastery. Someone came to me and said, “I hear you are really good at teaching golfers. Can you work with me?” And I said, “Tell me about your golf game.” He said, “I do not play.” I said, “Then I cannot work with you.” You need to have the fundamentals of the game. Once you know how to play, then I can take your game to the most amazing levels that you never thought possible, beginning now.

THE DIFFERENCE THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE…YOUR WAY TO THE TOP

I am going to call this section “The Difference that Makes the Difference.” When people go to learn from a local golf pro, they always learn about the mechanics of the golf game. They learn about the grip. They learn about the stance. They learn about posture. They learn about the swing. Golf is probably the most difficult game in the world to master. There is so much to learn. But it is interesting. There is a story that Dr. Erickson used to tell about a centipede walking along on its hundred legs, and it was doing just fine until it began to think, gee, I wonder which leg comes next. And then it came to a dead stop and it did not know which leg to move. The more you let go and learn to do things automatically, the better you do. The great golf teacher, Jim Flick, gives an exercise that I am going to have you do right now. Step I: I would like you to sign your name rapidly, just as you would on a check. Make sure to get a check, you have got to do this. Did you do it? Great. Step II: Now here is what I want you to do. Copy what you just did, but not rapidly. Take all the time you need to do it as exactly as possible. I want you to duplicate what you did before. All right, great. Step III: Now, I want you to take your pen or pencil and switch hands and I want you to sign your name as carefully as possible, trying to copy what you have done, but with your non-dominant hand. So if you are a right hander, put it in your left hand. If you are a lefty, put it in your right hand. And copy that signature as carefully as you can. Great. Step IV: Now with that same hand, your non-dominant hand, I want you to sign your name as fast as possible, just as if you were signing a check. All right, great. Level 4: Now, what did we learn? Well, let us take a look at the last signature that we did, the scroll with your non-dominant hand. Probably not a very good signature. We call this level of learning non-conscious incompetence. You just do not do it very well and you are not even aware that you are not doing it well. Level 3: Let us go to the next level. You put some time and thought into it. You were really trying, but it did not come out real well. We call this level conscious incompetence.

Page 8: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

Level 2: Now let us go to the next level, level two. This is where you are using the correct hand and you are really trying to copy it, but if you pay attention to what you have done, there are some noticeable differences. Even though you were copying, even though you were really trying, you have made some differences. We call this conscious competence. It is better than what came before, but it is not the real thing. Level 1: And then there was the signature on your check. That is the highest level. That is non-conscious competence. That is where it all happens automatically. That is where we are going, where you play your game of golf, your best game of golf, automatically. Non-conscious competence. Now who uses this method? Well, listen to what Tiger Woods said. “I’ve learned to trust the subconscious. My instincts have never lied to me.” So we are going to develop some techniques exactly like Tiger learned from when he was a little kid. I am going to reveal it all. I am not holding anything back here. Your golf game is going to soar.

THE SECRET TO GOLF FAILURE AND THE SHORTCUT TO SUCCESS Why do people make bad shots when they are out on the links? Well, the answer can be found in one word – tension. Tension gets in the way. When someone is tense, their muscles tighten automatically. They feel a little uncomfortable feeling that we call kinesthesia and sometimes it is located in their midline. Their breathing becomes erratic and as their breathing becomes erratic, and their muscles are tightened, it is amazing that you can even get a good shot off at all, because your mind overloads and it shuts down and it takes your body with it.

Right now I am going to give you the most incredible secret. Here is how to get rid of it once and for all. What I would like you to do now is take a deep breath and exhale slow. Go ahead, right now. Take a deep breath. As you exhale, notice how your body relaxes. I would like you to think about something that gets you tense, anything at all. It could be related to work, related to world politics, whatever you like. While you are experiencing the tension and the uncomfortable feelings in your body, take a deep breath and exhale slow and feel your body relax. If you need to, take it again, another deep breath. Exhale slow and your body relaxes. Each time you do that, that simple technique rids your body of tension. Great. Now, here is something that you cannot do in a car, so we will just talk about it, but I do not want you to try it. What we are going to have you do is we are going to have you close your eyes, roll them up to the top of your head until you feel the eyes strain and then we are going to have you let go. What we are doing now is I am installing my own special anchor in you. You will be learning about anchors later on this CD and why they are so important. This is one of the most important keys to the Golf Kingdom in spite of its simplicity. In CD number three, I am going to make this happen automatically for you. Step I: So, what you are going to do is, you are going to close your eyes. Step II: You are going to roll them up until you feel your eyes beginning to strain and then let go. Step III: What I am going to want you to do is count backwards from five to one. You know the drill, five, four, three, two and one.

Page 10: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

Step IV: Now visualize the shot that you are going to take. I want you to hear the impact that the club is going to make when it hits the ball. I want you to feel the sensations in your body as you make solid contact with the ball exactly as you intended. Step V: Now take another deep breath. Exhale slow. You have now rid your body of all tension. Your body is completely relaxed. Step VI: Then you open up your eyes and take the shot. Go do it. Practice it. Practice it on the range. Practice it on the putting green. Your game is about to improve.

WELCOME TO THE GOLF CHANNEL

I’m going to call this next segment the Golf Channel because what we’re going to be

doing is we’re going to be watching you on television. So, it’s kind of different because I don’t know if you’ve ever seen yourself on the Golf Channel before, but I’d like you to imagine yourself on the Golf Channel.

Now, some of you might want to watch yourself on a big-screen TV, some of you might

want to imagine that they’re broadcasting the Golf Channel on a huge screen inside your local movie theater; whichever is good for you is good for me. What I’d like you to do is I’d like you to sit down in a comfortable chair and watch yourself on the Golf Channel. And, what I’d like you to do is I’d like you to select one shot that was perfect. It could be the perfect drive, the perfect chip shot, the perfect wedge, the perfect putt, as a matter of fact, it would probably be a good idea to go through this particular tract a couple of times for each of the different types of shots that you make. What I’d like you to do is just select one of them, perhaps the one that needs the most work, and let’s begin.

What I’d like you to do is I’d like you to imagine that you are now watching yourself take

your best shot, but there is no sound. There is just the image. And you watch yourself from beginning to end, see yourself setting up the shot, addressing the ball, see yourself getting ready for that swing, and taking the shot, and following through. And take as long as you like to watch that shot again and again. Great.

Now, what I’d like you to do is, we’re going to go back, and what we’re going to do is

we’re going to do something that maybe you haven’t done in a long time on your channel vision. What I’d like you to do is I’d like you to watch that shot from beginning to end, and this time what I’d like you to do is, I’d like you to identify the sounds that you heard when you took that perfect shot. I’d like you to recall whether there was anybody in your foursome who was saying anything to you at the time, whether there were any sounds in the background, whether you heard the birds, or whether you were totally concentrated; what we call “in the zone”. And of course, you’re going to hear that incredibly wonderful sound of the club, whichever club it is, making contact with the ball for the perfect shot. So, I want you to listen to that shot from beginning to end. Great.

Page 12: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

Now, we’re going to go through that shot one more time, and this time we’re going to pay attention to how we feel. We’re going to pay attention to the feeling of the club in our hands. We’re going to pay attention to the grip that we’re using. We’re going to pay attention to all of the sensations in our body from beginning to end, every sensation in our perfect shot, all the way to the end. Just imagine the feeling in your body in every aspect of the perfect shot. That’s great.

Now, we’re going to do it one final time, and we’re going to take all of the pieces and put

it together. Only this time we’re going to use something that they do on television that doesn’t really happen in real life. I’d like you to be able to slow it down, so that as you’re watching it, you see what your perfect shot is all about. And as you watch it in your mind, your other-than-conscious mind is learning, and processing, and storing away the perfect shot for the future, and we’re going to be using that in the future especially on CD No. 3.

Now, I’d like you to go back over this tract again and again until you’ve identified

exactly what’s right with your golf game. Now that’s something that’s a little bit different than other people do. Most people want to find out what’s wrong, well I want to find out what’s right and build on that so your scores will begin to go down as if it’s magic overnight.

Page 13: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

ANCHORS AWAY!

Now I call this section “Anchoring” and I have to tell you, for just this section alone, it was worth whatever you paid for these CDs. It’s just incredible. It’s amazing. It’s something that’s been around for a long time, but one of those things that we just didn’t pay any attention to. So, let me tell you how I learned about it. There were two teachers, they’re still around today, their names are Richard Bandler and John Grinder, and they invented a science called neuro linguistic programming. Sounds complicated but what they did was they became modelers. They learned how to copy people’s behaviors and replicate it. And the science of modeling has been used by just about everyone, people in business, the U.S. Army used modeling to accelerate the training of snipers and sharp shooters, and we’re going to use the science of modeling to improve your golf game. Now this aspect of neuro linguistic programming, or NLP, is called anchoring.

Anchoring is traced back to the great psychologist Ivan Pavlov, who did all his experimentations, some of you may remember, with those dogs and ringing a bell, and those dogs salivated when they heard the bell ring. Well, your buddies in the foursome are going to start salivating when they see your golf game. So, let’s get into anchoring. It’s important that we begin to pay attention to what’s going on inside when you start getting ready to take the shot. And it’s important that we begin to ask what kind of shots do I want to hit? And I want you to think about it, of course, everybody would love to ace every hole but that’s just not reality even for the pros. But what’s stopping you from hitting your best shots? Most people don’t know. But what I’d like you to do now is guess, and

Page 14: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

there’s a reason that I want you to guess, because guessing taps on the other-than-conscious mind, and we’re going to use all of the resources that there are to develop your game. Now, anchoring means that a particular stimulus is associated with a particular event. For example if you’re married, many couples had what they called their song, a song that was playing when they met, or a song that was playing when someone proposed, and every time that song plays that couple remembers that special moment when they met or when someone proposed.

And everybody has anchors, anchors that you like and anchors that you don’t like. For example, a parent yelling at you may be a very negative anchor, a very poor anchor. Where someone speaking nicely to you, maybe one of your children just brings out the best in you and your heart melts.

Well, we’re going to learn how to use anchoring out on the course, but I want you to know you’re probably already using it but in the wrong way. When people go out on the course and they go up to the first tee, very often they blow the first shot. They may have a really great game the rest of the day, but they’ve blown the first shot. That’s because the first tee is a negative anchor. Or when they go onto a hole that has a water hazard on it, that’s it. No matter what they do, it’s as if their ball is magnetically drawn towards the hazard or sand traps. Stay out of the sand traps. Stay out of the stand traps. Stay out of the sand trap, and guess where the ball goes, you got it, that’s right. Right into the sand trap.

Page 15: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

And you know, most pros give advice the wrong way because they don’t understand the way the mind works. The typical pro will tell you don’t pay any attention to the sand trap. Don’t pay any attention to the water hazard. Now, I’d like you to think about that piece of advice for a second while we try this on.

Don’t think of a red stop sign. Don’t think of a bluebird singing. Don’t think of Tiger Woods launching one of his incredible drives down the fairway. You see, every time someone says the word don’t, your mind has to process what came next. If I say, don’t think of the stop sign, you absolutely must think of the stop sign in order to process that information. So, when someone says to you, don’t think of the water hazard, what’s on your mind? You got it, the water hazard. So, instead of thinking of what you don’t want, I’d like you to begin to think of what you do want. Where you want that shot to go. And my advice for you is that before taking every shot you’re going to visualize in your mind exactly where that ball is going to go. And it’s really amazing, the more you do it, the more the ball is going to head into that direction. Now, every sport psychologist worth a grain of salt knows that that’s the key to success. What Ted Williams used to do, the great baseball hitter, he used to visualize the ball coming in and slowing down until it was absolutely just hanging in front of the plate and that’s when he would get one of his incredible hits. The power of the mind is almost unlimited. Now, people have all kinds of unusual anchors out on the course. People have superstitious anchors. Hey, look at Tiger; he always wears that red shirt in the final round of a tournament. But, we have a lot of anchors that we don’t use. Positive past experiences, and we’re going to learn how to get some of those anchors. Back in the section that we called “The Golf Channel”, we recalled some perfect shots. We recalled the perfect drive, and if you listen to it enough times, the perfect chip, the perfect wedge, the perfect putt.

What I’d like you to do now is, as you go over the perfect shot in your mind, I’d like you to lift your little finger of either hand. That’s right. Just lift that finger, and go through it one time, two

Page 16: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

times, three times, and lift that finger for that particular shot, and then when you’re done with that shot, you’ve done it maybe ten times, every time you lift that finger you’re going to recall the perfect shot. And since you have five fingers, you can do a different shot with a different finger, and each time you lift the appropriate finger you’re going to recall automatically the perfect shot. Fantastic. Now, what I’d like you to do the next time you go out onto a course and you’re tying the laces on your golf shoes, take your fingers and begin to lift them one at a time. Begin to lift them one at a time. That’s right. And automatically the perfect shot will be recalled for you. Fantastic. And when you need to take the perfect drive, which finger are you going to lift? That’s right, the finger associated with the perfect drive. And when you need to take the perfect putt, which finger are you going to lift? That’s right, the one that’s associated with the perfect putt. You’ve got it. This is easy to do.

We’re going to make this automatic on CD No. 3. It’s just going to happen. Now the way this happens is through repetition. So, I want you to practice listening to the section on “Golf Channel” and “Anchoring” until you have anchored into your fingers every single perfect shot. Each finger on one of your hands should be associated with the perfect shot. Do it and we’re going to make it automatic pilot so that every single one of your shots is the perfect shot.

CONCENTRATION

Now when golfers call me on the phone, the number one thing that they want help with is concentration. People tell me that their moods out on the course swing as much as their golf club. Well we’re going to get rid of that right now and we are going to use that technique that we used earlier called anchoring. Now I bet that everybody has music that is special to them. Before I talk about music that couples use when they meet for the first time or when they get engaged but there is other music that affects our mood. There is music that makes us feel powerful; there is music that makes us feel invincible.

You know when ever a basketball team or a football team takes to the field or the court there is music in the background adding to the excitement. We all know how music used artfully in a movie can control our emotions. Well we are about to use music to improve our golf game. Now I don’t know about you but there is some music that makes me feel incredible. When I turn up the volume on Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run”, turn it all the way up in my car, I get the feeling that nothing can stop me or I listen to “Survivor”, “Eye of the Tiger” I could listen to that again and again. Somewhere there is music that makes you feel powerful. Now doesn’t matter to me whether its Perry Como music or Frank Sinatra or its Elvis’ “Blue Suede Shoes”, doesn’t matter to me whether its rock ‘n roll or punk I want you to find a song in your memory that makes you feel powerful and then if you don’t already own it, why don’t you go out and get a CD or a cassette that has it because we are going to be using that a lot. Fantastic, now what I want you to do is I want you to go back and do the golf channel exercise that we did before but this time I want you to have that special music playing in your ears as you do that exercise again. Great, you are going to do this again and again until that music becomes associated with your perfect shot. Now its okay with me if you use the same music for each shot, it will just make your whole game incredibly perfect but you must pick something that is unique for you and don’t expect that your friend is going to have the same musical taste as you. Hey, your friend may choose Billy

Page 18: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

Joel instead of the Boss, that’s okay your friend may choose some music that kind of makes you want to gag, that’s okay. The only important thing is its music that inspires you and fills you with power. Now Tiger Woods has a lucky color, do you? If you score well wearing a blue shirt, guess what I want you to wear all the time? That’s right blue shirts. Don’t be shy if you shoot your personal best and if your perfect shot was in a blue shirt, that’s what I want you to wear.

Fantastic, now what I want you to do is I want you to practice using music again and again. Now how do you do that? Well one of the things that you do is that you take the music with you when you go to practice at the driving range. Put it on and actually take the shots with the music on. Watch your distance improve. When you go to the putting green, do it with the music on, watch your putts improve. Here is something really sneaky, especially when there is money on the line. I want you take like a Walkman or a Discman with you put it in your bag and in between holes, you know what I want you to do. I want you to listen to your favorite music, to your incredibly powerful anchor that makes your recall your perfect shot. Hey this stuff can’t miss. Go do it now. I want you do that again and again and remember, remember those fingers that we anchored I want you to start lifting those fingers and what’s happening now is we’re doing what’s called stacking anchors. We’ve got the music, we’ve got what we saw on the golf channel, we’ve got our favorite colored shirt on, we’ve got the anchors in each of our fingers and each anchor that we do one on top of the other means our game is improving. Now what I want you do is I want you to practice this for two weeks. I want you to practice it, I want you to practice it at home, I want you to practice it in the office, wherever you practice your golf game. Even it’s just sitting in an easy chair and concentrating and recalling the last round that you shot but have that music there with you. Kind of funny you know I met someone who is a really good salesperson and they could sell great when Simon and Garfunkel was playing, see you know what his boss did, bought a CD system for the guy’s office and had Simon and Garfunkel playing in the background all of the time. The sales skyrocketed. Well what I am asking you to do is to take this technology and use it to improve your golf game. It’s easy, it’s simple and it really works and that’s why you know in the Navy they are always singing about anchors away. You won’t want to step on the golf course without taking your

Page 19: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

anchors with you. Now I packed a lot of information into this CD but we’re scratching the surface. I want you to review the information on this CD because both of my CDs build on one another. So get the information in this CD down. Practice it and practice it and then I’ll see you on CD Number 2, but at anytime you can use CD Number 3 at night. Remember not to use it in your car. And along the way I want you to let me know how you’re doing. My email address I [email protected]. If you have any questions about what we’ve been learning, email me and I’ll apologize if I wasn’t clear and help out your game. I answer my emails pretty quickly. So you’re on to better golf. Go get ‘em tiger.

Hi, this is Dr. Kilstein. I would like to welcome you back to Golfers’ Mind. One of the most interesting things you are going to discover is that the more you listen to Golfers’ Mind, the greater depth you will find in it. And the more you listen to CD No. 3, the more quickly your game is going to improve. There is so much more yet to cover. But first, I want to start with a story.

I want to start with a story about elephants. Now you may be thinking, elephants, what do elephants have to do with great golf? Well, when elephants grow up and they are in the circus, one of the things that they do is they tie the elephant by its foot to a little stake in the ground. Now that elephant tries with all of its might to pull that stake out of the ground, but the stake is in too deeply for the little elephant. And that elephant gives up trying. So that elephant knows that that stake in the ground cannot be pulled out. And as the elephant grows older and stronger, it knows, no matter what, that stake cannot be pulled out of the ground. An older circus elephant, mighty powerful animal, that could pull that stake out of the ground in an instant without even thinking about it, does not even try to move because they know that that stake cannot be moved from the ground. Now I would like to know how many times you have given up on your dreams of a great golf game because of a belief like that elephant, that something cannot change, that something is impossible. Well, I am here to tell you that nothing is impossible, and you are going to learn on this CD about challenging some of your beliefs and learning what you can do to revolutionize your golf game beyond all belief overnight. Now, remember, I am packing a lot of information into these CD’s. The way it is going to work best is if you review what you learn here, and then practice it on the driving range, on the putting green and, especially, out on the course. You will discover that the secrets, the amazing golf secrets that you are learning on these CD’s, are going to improve your game like nothing you have ever learned before in your life. So get excited because there is a lot of information on the way. I am going to be packing it in. I know I am going to be overloading you, so please go back and review the information, because there is just so much here. There is a lot of learning to come.

Page 21: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

THE LANGUAGE OF CONFIDENCE We are going to call this section the language of confidence, unstoppable confidence.

I hope my golf game is going to improve. I am going to try to get the ball out of the trap.

I keep taking lessons but nothing seems to help. I should have shot better on the first nine.

I would have shot better on the first nine if only I had my lucky club with me. I could have shot better on the last nine if only I did not triple bogey on the ninth hole. It threw

off my game. I should be shooting at least ten strokes less than what I am shooting now.

Do those sound familiar? I call those confidence killers. Your language will have a direct effect on your golf game. If you are using the wrong kind of language, it is affecting your score. If you are using the right kind of language, you are scoring like a pro. Le’ts look at some of those. Let’s imagine for a moment that you are not talking about golf. You are talking about having a dinner party and you are inviting people over. You are inviting couples over and you go from door to door, and you are inviting people over and they say to you, I am going to try to attend, or they say, I hope to be there. Well I would like to attend but, I would attend if only, I could attend, I really should attend. Are these people coming to the dinner party? Answer, no way. But you go to the door of someone. You invite them and they say, I will definitely be there. Guess who is going to be at the dinner party. Now you remember Yoda, that little puppet from Star Wars who said, “there is no try, only do.” So what we are going to learn about now are confidence killers and confidence makers. We are going to learn about confidence builders and we are going to learn about the kind of language that you need to use out on the course that is going to make you a winner. Okay, the first confidence killer is the word hope. I hope I can sink this shot. That is not going to make it. That is not good enough. I am going to try to sink this shot. Alright, folks here is what I would like you to do. I would like you to try to lift your right hand. Now what happened when you tried? Did you lift your right hand or did you not lift your right hand? You see, if you lifted your right hand then that was not trying, that was lifting. The only way to try something is not to accomplish it. So when you say, I am going to try to sink this putt, it is not going to work; it is not going to go in.

Page 22: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

The word “but” negates whatever came before in a sentence. I would really like to sink this putt but the green is too wet. What does that mean? That means I am not going to sink that putt. So, hope, try and but are absolute confidence killers. I hope my game will improve. Is my game going to improve? No, I am just going to sit around and hope. I am going to improve my short game. I am going to attempt. I wish. These are wimpy words and these are not going to get you what you need. Results. And then we have the three “oulds”. Would, could, should. These are all wimpy words. These are all words that are implying you are not going to succeed. And if this is what you say on the outside, it is what is reflected on the inside; a complete lack of confidence. What we need to do, we need to change your language from the language of wimpiness to the language of confidence. We need to change your language from the language of indecisiveness to the language of certainty. Here are some of the words that you should be using. Absolutely. I am absolutely going to sink this putt. Positively. I am positively going to cut six strokes from my game in the coming week or month. Without a doubt. Without a doubt, I am going to drive this shot further than anything I have hit today. Certainly. Obviously. Definitely. Of course. Undoubtedly. I am guaranteed to improve my game. Sure.

Now, how do you get confident? Confidence comes from doing. Confidence does not come from just sitting around. You need to get out there and put this into practice. Is your game going to improve? Absolutely. Are you going to be sinking those impossible putts? Without a doubt. Is your game going to improve the very next time you go out on the links? Definitely. What are your chances for cutting six strokes off your score? They are guaranteed. Confidence comes from doing. You need to use the language of motivation. I have to, I need to, I must, as opposed to the wimpy language of would have, could have, should have. What language are you using? Are you using the language of certainty? Are you using the language of unstoppable confidence? Are you using the language that indicates that you are going to sink every impossible putt? Of course you are, most certainly.

Page 23: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

Now, on CD No. 1, I introduced you to a concept called anchoring. Anchoring is an incredibly powerful concept, where we associate a stimulus with a response. Remember Pavlov’s dog? When they rang the bell, the dogs salivate. And you learned to use anchors. We talked about anchoring your shots to your fingers, lifting a finger for each type of shot that you wanted to work on. Now when you hold the club, you need to determine which fingers are going to be easier for you to lift, whether it is going to be your top hand or your bottom hand. And I have to tell you, that changes from individual to individual. You have to use what is comfortable for you. Now when exactly do you use these anchors? You use these anchors when you are out on the course and you have gone up to address the ball. And the more anchors you use, the more powerfully you will be playing out on the course. So use those anchors. Now I would like you to remember a time that you had confidence. I would like you to remember a time that you sunk one of those shots that you never thought you were going to get in. Got one like that? Great. Anchor it. Anchor it. Sing a song, a song of power. Remember a song, a song of power. Learn from the past. The past has a number of incredible resources for you only if you remember them. Now something that the pros do that most amateurs do not do, is they watch videos of themselves time after time. Of course, you do not have the major networks or the Golf Channel videoing your game. And normally, when most amateurs look at a video, it is to find out what is wrong. I want you spending time on the shots that you hit well. You already know what needs to change about your game. Do not focus on what is wrong. Focus on what is right. Remember on the last CD, we talked about remembering the concept that you cannot not think of something, that your mind always and automatically goes in the direction of what you feed it. Remember, do not think of the red stop sign. Well now, instead of feeding your mind the shots that did not work, I want you feeding your mind the shots that did work. Now confidence is something that everyone had at some time when you were a kid. It may not have been related to golf. It might have been playing a game. Maybe you were the greatest Monopoly player in history. Maybe you could ride a bike or roller skate or hit a baseball or sink a basket better than anyone you knew. Maybe your skill was in school or maybe it was in selling. But everyone has a time when they have absolute confidence. Those are the times to remember. And we learn from the past in order to take those feelings with us into the future.

Page 24: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

Now if you make a mistake, the only reason to remember a mistake is to learn from it. Every pro made mistakes. Do you know who the all-time record-holder for Number Two finishes in a PGA tournament is? It is Jack Nicklaus. Jack Nicklaus came in number two more times than anyone else. He learned from it. He learned from his failures because he certainly came in Number One enough times. In 1966, Tom Lehman lost the US Open on the 72nd hole by one stroke. Man, he must have been upset. But the next time out, he bounced back and he won the British Open. Do you have the ability to learn from what you did wrong? Do you have the ability to bounce back from a bad shot to triumph? When you do, you will have the ability to play like a winner.

Now, where does our lack of confidence come from? A lot of it comes from the language that we talked about on the previous track. And a lot of it comes from our origins, from parents, from schools, from the media, from people that doubt us. And we keep hearing it again and again. But I want you to remember, when you were younger, you had that confidence that you could do anything. And that is the kind of confidence that you need out on the course. When you know absolutely that you are going to succeed, then you will. When you absolutely must succeed, that is when your score is going to significantly improve. So I would like you to review the material that I have talked about. I would like you to examine your language. What kind of language are you using? I would like you to find the positive resources from the shots that you have made in the past, when you had that confidence. And if you make a mistake, I want you to learn from your failures and move on.

Page 25: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

ENTERING THE WINNER’S ZONE We are going to call this section, playing in the zone. Now a lot of people talk about being in the zone. What exactly is the zone? The zone is that incredible state when you feel as if you cannot miss, when you have that incredible, unstoppable, powerful confidence that you are going to hit every shot exactly as you intend that the ball is going to absolutely go where your mind sees it. That is being in the zone.

Now Pros try to play in the zone as much as possible, but what of the things that stops people from playing in the zone, is what is going on inside their negative self-talk. People are talking to themselves. Jim, you really need to sink this putt, if I do not sink this putt I am not going to win the match, if I sink this putt I am going to break 100, I am going to break 90, I am going to break 80. There is so much going on, oh man I just sank one into the lake, I cannot believe I did that, if I do not sink this. All that internal stuff, you know what I am talking about, it can kill your game, it can take you from winner to loser more quickly than it can take you, to the time it takes you to swing your club.

So what do you do about that self-talk? You need to turn it off. Here is how, you never heard this anywhere before. First, there is an old rule that only one thing can occupy a given space at a given time. If you are sitting in a chair and someone can come and sit on your lap, but they

Page 26: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

cannot sit on the chair in your space at the same time. So let us talk about your mind. What is occupying your mind? If your mind is not occupied then it can be filled with self-talk, negative self-talk, but if you fill your mind then you choose the message that your mind is going to be giving you. So the easiest way for you to stop the negative self-talk is to fill your mind with something. So why does Fuzzy Zoeller whistle all the time while he is setting up his shot? Now you know. He is calming his mind. Now it does not matter to me if you whistle all the time.

You can use music, we have talked about music being an anchor, but music can also stop that inner self-talk, especially if you sing along with it. So I would like you to pick the songs during practice to create the right tempo for you to ease into the zone. I would like you to find the right music to quiet your mind during the setup and the swing. Now remember everyone is going to have their own music. So aside from music, and especially singing out loud, I would like you to tell yourself a joke, any kind of joke interrupts the pattern of negative self-talk. I have to tell you this story. My wife was helping someone, who unfortunately is a, suffers from paranoia and every time she runs into someone, she thinks that they are out to get her and god forbid a policeman should look at her, she thinks that they are really out to get her. She thinks they are about to arrest her and take her away, and she called me all hysterical because she was filling her car with gas, and a policeman drove by and smiled at her and that just meant that she was ready for a trip to the police station, and she starts telling me her story and I interrupted her and I said, do you know, no one has sung “I have Been Working on the Railroad” to me today. She said what? I said, no one has sung “I have Been Working on the Railroad” to me today. I said do you want to sing the chorus two or three times? She said two and we began to sing, and by the time she had sung the second chorus, and we still could not figure out who was in the kitchen with Dina, she no longer had problem. It interrupted her internal dialog. Now if something could interrupt someone who is paranoid, who thinks that the police are about to take her away, imagine what that can do with someone who is out on the course and is just beating themselves up because they missed a putt. So use music, use the power of music, use the power of a good joke to interrupt those negative patterns.

Page 27: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

Now there is another technique that I want to teach you, it’s called C.R.A.F.T. Craft is a way to interrupt your negative self-talk and craft stands for: Cancel, Restate, Affirm, Focus and Train. How do we use craft? Well let us imagine we have to drive the ball, and its going to go right past some trees and you do not have a history of getting the loft on the ball that you should, and you start telling yourself, maybe you should play this the safe way, maybe you should take an extra stroke and go around those trees. What you need to say at that moment is cancel and that immediately stops the self-talk. Then you need to restate what you want, I am going to drive the ball on a straight line exactly where it is going to end up. Then you affirm for yourself that you are going to be able to do it, I can hit the ball exactly where I want it to go. Focus your mind on what your goal is and then train your mind by repeating it again and again. The word cancel is going to become a powerful anchor if you choose to use it to interrupt that negative self-talk. Take the C.R.A.F.T. technique with you and whenever your internal mind starts to get in the way, use it. Use it and replace the language of insecurity with the language of confidence. C.R.A.F.T.: cancel, restate but restate it with the language of certainty, of course I can make this shot, affirm, I have hit shots like this in the past, focus your mind on the task, what do you need to do to make it happen and then train yourself by repeating again, and again that you can do it. Now when you go into the zone, you want to recall the shots that you hit in the past that were on target. I want you to identify the music that you have been practicing with that goes with the elements of the swing, and then when you are on the driving range or the putting green test the match between the music and your swing.

Page 28: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

Take a Walkman with you; take a CD-man with you. Put it on for practice and get the music into you. Use this for about two weeks and then evaluate. Change the music as necessary, but these are the secrets that the Pros use. These are the secrets that they use to calm their inner mind and you can use them too. Now be sure only to use music that brings positive experiences. If you have gone through a bad divorce and there was a song that you and your ex use to use, and remembering that song brings back all the bad times, bad emotional experiences, that would not be good music to use out there. Use only the right music at the right time and that will enable you to enter the zone at will that is how you do it. Cutoff that negative self-talk, sing, joke, whistle, use the craft technique, but above all do something. Use this and you will discover your score improving, your confidence improving. Use this and you will discover that you are playing the golf game that you always wanted to play, but did not play until now.

Page 29: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

AUTOMATIC GOLF SUCCESS

Now I want to repeat something from CD No. 1. And there is a reason that I am repeating it. And it is the only thing that I am repeating, and that should tell you something. It should tell you that this is the key. If you get this technique down, there is no stopping you. Now I did not repeat this technique for any other reason but to impress upon you how important this is. If you only do one thing, this technique, your game will improve. Now this technique is so simple that you might think it would not have a dramatic effect. I just worked with a golfer the other day, and I told him this technique. And every muscle in his body loosened and relaxed within seconds. Now remember, the source of all poor shots is tension. If we eliminate tension, we eliminate the poor shots. It is that tension that gets in the way. Your muscles tighten. You feel that uncomfortable tension along the midline in your body. The tension produces that negative talk that we talked about earlier. And then your mind overloads and it shuts down. When you hook or your slice or you even miss the ball, it is because of tension. Now if you spend all of your time with coaches analyzing your swing, but you do not analyze what is in your mind, you are probably not going to improve your game all that much. You have got to conquer the mental game. And your mind determines who gets to gloat in the clubhouse and who hangs their head down. Well, which one would you rather be? If you want to be the person whose confidence gleams like Halogen lights in the middle of the night, then I want you using this technique. Here is what I want you to do. When you are setting up your shot, I want you to take a deep breath, and exhale slow. And when you do that, I want you to do it again. Take a deep breath, and exhale slow. And then I want you to close your eyes. When you close your eyes, you roll them up until you feel the eye strain, and then let go. Now if you have been listening to CD No. 3, you know exactly why I am saying this. Because this is the anchor that I am installing. And with your eyes closed, as soon as you feel that eye strain, let go, forget about your eyes. And I want you to count backwards from five to one. Five, four, three, two, one. And you will absolutely feel your body beginning to relax. At that point, I want you to visualize the shot. Where exactly is it going to go? What is your swing going to look like? I want you to hear the sound of the ball when your club makes impact with it. I want you to feel inside your body what your swing is going to be like. Then I want you to take another deep breath and exhale slow. And open up your eyes and with your rested body, take that shot. Now it sounds easy. But what you need to do is make it part of your routine. Every single golfer who has used this secret technique has seen their game improve overnight. So I want to impress upon you that you need to practice it.

Page 30: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

You need to listen to CD No. 3 and then you need to tell me how much your game improved with this one little trick. Now I want you to know, you will not find this technique written anywhere. Because nobody knows it, except a few pros. And they ain’t talking. So folks, do yourself a favor. I repeated this for one reason only. Because this is it. You use this technique, and your game is going to improve.

Well, guess what? The pros use this technique. Now, when Tiger Woods goes up to take a shot, he blinks his eyes. He is not blinking his eyes because there is dust in his eyes. He is not blinking his eyes because he wants to see the ball better. He is blinking his eyes because his first golf mind teacher, Dr. Jay Brunza, taught him that that was going to be Tiger’s anchor to enter the hypnosis zone. Now Tiger has had years and years of mental training. Your mental training began when you ordered this package. So I need to give you a technique that is even more effective than what Tiger is using. And that is the technique that I have taught you now. That simple technique, taking a deep breath, exhale slow, do it again, if necessary, until every muscle in your body relaxes

. Close your eyes; roll them to the top of your head until you feel that eye strain. Now there is a reason for that. And I am going to tell you, just so that you think I am not making it up. That there are four brain wave states. When you are super alert; when you are charged, like an NBA player driving up the lane for a lay-up, your brain waves are in beta. When you are contemplating and thinking things, in a state of meditation, your mind is in alpha. When you are in a deeper state of meditation or hypnosis, your mind is in feta. That is the state that you are in when you listen to CD No. 3. And when you are asleep, your mind is in delta. Now in order for you to set up the shot properly, I need for you to still that inner mind. I need to take you out of beta and put you into alpha. And how do you get there? You guessed it. That eye roll taps into the parts of your brain that produce the alpha brain wave state. So when you close your eyes and you roll them up, you are actually changing your brain wave state. Then, I want you to count backwards from five to one. That is the anchor to CD No. 3. Visualize the shot. Hear it. Feel it. See exactly where it is going to go. Watch your swing. Take a deep breath; exhale slow. And you are on the road to golf success.

Page 31: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

AUTOMATIC LEARNING BY DOING

My friend, David Gordon, tells a story that I want to share with you. David is quite a character. David incidentally was one of the founders of neuro-linguistic programming in NLP that we talked about on CD No. 1. And he tells a story about when he was in school. David had to take an art class, and David was terrible in art. And art was all about drawing, and everyone in the class it seemed was a better student than David and really knew how to draw, and David was able to draw like stick figures, and the teacher would go from easel to easel and look at the drawings and when she saw one that she really liked, she would say, “Look, class. Look at this drawing.” But she never stopped at David. David’s were, in his own words, “pretty darn bad”.

So one day David could not take it any more, and he took a sheet of art paper home with him. It was kind of like tracing paper. And that night, he opened up an encyclopedia and he looked for a picture of a bird. And the reason he did that was because he knew that the next week’s assignment was going to be to draw a picture of a bird. So David, using that special art paper, traced a picture of a bird. And then when he lifted up the sheet, he discovered something. That when he had taken a piece of drawing paper home, he had accidentally taken two sheets. And on the second sheet, the bottom sheet, was the outline, the indentation of the drawing that he had made. Well, David was no dummy. Looking at the indentation, he drew pencil lines and suddenly, there appeared out of nothing, the image of a bird. David smiled. He had his art class absolutely conquered. The next day, he went and he took a couple of sheets home, and he used his technique, and he traced the image of the bird. And the next week in class, the teacher was going around and David was doing his drawing, but what he was really doing was connecting those little lines that only he knew were there. And the teacher stopped and picked up David’s picture and said, “Look, class. Look at David’s bird. This is really fantastic.” And David was really happy about it because he had gotten that positive feedback.

Page 32: Golfers Mind Transcript Fullgolfersmind.com/GolfersMindTranscript.pdf · You are going to learn why sometimes you play so badly when you try to impress someone. You are going to learn

And the routine was started. Every day, David would take home two sheets of paper, one to trace with, and the other one to make the impression with. And David traced ships and planes and people and children. And David was now on his way to an A in class. And every week, it seemed like clockwork, the teacher would stop in front of David’s easel while he was connecting the lines, and nobody could see them but David, and she would hold it up and say, “Look, class. Look at what David drew.” And he was getting pretty proud of himself. But you have probably guessed the rest of the story. David started feeling guilty because what he was doing was not very honest. So what he decided to do was to go into the final exam and do it on his own. He had already traced the picture of a cat which was going to be the topic of the final exam. And he could see the lines on the paper. And the teacher kept coming by and saying, “David, you haven’t drawn anything yet. David, you haven’t drawn anything yet.” And David knew what he had to do. He took the piece of paper that had the lines on it, the lines imprinted that only he could see, and he crumpled it up and he threw it away. And using only his pencil and a clean sheet of paper, David began to draw a cat. And he was shocked out of his mind when the teacher came by during the final exam and held up his sheet of paper and said, “Look, class, at the cat that David had drawn.” Well it turned out that all of that practice had ingrained the skills in David so that he really did become an artist. He really did know how to draw. He just did not know that he knew it until that final exam. So with all the practice that you have been doing, years and years of practice, is it not time to set your game on autopilot? Is it not time for you to really hit a new level in your golf game? That is what Golfer’s Mind is all about. Your golf success. David learned that by repetition and practice, came mastery. It started with mimicry. It started with tracing. But it ended up that he could do it on his own. And so can you.

WHO ELSE WANTS TO BE ON THE GOLF CHANNEL? Now, most golfers like to watch golf on television and that is a really admirable thing. But I am going to give you something that you can do, that is going to boost your golf game while you watch television. I would like you to watch a shot, any kind of shot, and then immediately after watching that shot, I would like you to imagine that you step inside the screen. You step inside the television. You are on the projection screen and you are taking the exact shot. Imagine that it is you that the gallery is applauding for. Imagine that it is you that just drove the ball further than you have ever driven it in your life. Imagine that it is you who took a really gutsy move to get yourself to the green in one stroke less than you ordinarily do. You are taking chances. You have courage. Watch yourself on the television again and again. And you will soon discover by doing what is right, the difference between an excellent shot and a shot that you can remember to forget about. So get good instruction. Go over what we have done on these CD’s. They are not meant for one trial learning, they are meant for you to learn again and again. Get solid anchors. Use my eye roll technique, my breathing technique that I have taught you. That will really pick up your game. But it is only going to work if you use them. And I really want you to succeed. I have a vested interest in your success. And remember, I want to hear from you. I want to hear about every triumph out on the course. And you can write to me at [email protected]. I answer my e-mail, sometimes I am away on the way on a tour with someone, and I may not be able to get to you right away, but generally I am pretty good about answering my e-mail, and I would love to hear your success stories.

A STORY FOR A CHANGE I want to close by telling you a story about one of the greatest figures in history, is Winston Churchill.

It was 1941 and Churchill gave a speech at the Harra School in England in the middle of a war. No one expected him to come. No one thought that the Prime Minister would show up and speak. When Churchill was introduced, he was introduced as almost the savior of mankind and the people roared when he came in, and he gave probably the shortest commencement speech in history.

Here it is from beginning to end. “Never give in. Never, never, never, never. In nothing, great or small, large or petty. Never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.” And then he sat down, and there was silence and then a roar went up from the crowd because every person there thought that Churchill was speaking directly to them.

Now I kind of wonder what you can learn from Winston Churchill that is going to affect your golf game. This has been Dr. Kilstein for Golfers Mind. Go get ‘em tiger.
