For this assessment, the delegate would carry out a safety inspection of a workplace, identifying hazards and

deciding whether they are adequately controlled and where necessary, suggest appropriate and cost effective

remedial action.

preference, this should be someone as independent of the candidate as possible. The organizations Health &

Safety Advisor or the Training Manager, If such post exists, are normally ideal choices.

I, B.Gopikrishnan, Safety Officer has done inspection in Vijay Construction Pvt.

Ltd, Chennai on 08-06-2015 at 10.35 am the purpose of the inspection was the

identify the hazards existing in the workplace and report those to management for

taking remedial actions many like scaffolding, working all height welding operation,

crane operation and manual handling were observed during inspection there were

approximately 500 employees working in the site.

The work is designed the meet erecting good and safe structure the area

covers about 100 acres and located near sea.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The main objectives of the inspection is the identify the hazards and associated risk

related the activities going on all work place the major hazard found in the work site are

use of damaged web sling during lifting operations, scaffold collapse, working in trench and

excess emission of silica dust.

Adequate control measures are advised to minimize the risk involve in the activities

and some of them required urgent action they are use of damaged web sling for lifting

operation there is a risk of fall of suspended load and the control measures the minimize

the risk if repair or replace the damage web slings, pre check of web sling, and periodic

inspection by competent person. Another hazard is collapse of scaffold due to incomplete

erection. Sitting in unstable ground and use of damaged components is another hazard

observed and the risk of serious injury the people and damage to the properly. The control

measure are scaffold erection by competent person in a firm level ground using good

components daily inspection before use and weekly inspection by competent person. Other

hazard are slip, trip, fall the advised control measure are proper housekeeping and

supervision gas test provision of good ventilation, adequate access / egress, permit to work

system emergency procedures and first aid facility use REP and confined space work

training Excess emission of silica dual in surface preparation and another hazard. Observed

and the risk are irritation to skin, eye, lungs. Respiratory truck and can cause silicosis and

skin diseases. Control measure are one of RPE, reduce exposure time, use of vacuuming to

clean the dual and provision of LEV system.

MAIN FINDINGS OF THE INSPECTION

Observation 10

Risk of scaffold collapsing of structure due the improper erection of scaffolding

can result in major accident. This can result in collapse of scaffold in the time of work

and can result in fall from height, also can result in fatality. This is a violation of

regulation of health and safety all work the situation should be dealt with

immediately.

Observation 12

Soil condition is poor risk of collapse trench and worker may came injure (or)

death. Take remedial action like shoring shielding benching etc.,

Person working in height without proper PPE’s risk of falling from height other

hazards are object falls from height, courses fatal injures take appropriate action such

as provision of personal prohibition equipment Ex. (PFAS) and supervision.

CONCLUSIONS

The work site is found to be a safe place to work. After inspection is carried

out. Event through there are few issues that require urgent management attention.

A number of hazard have aroused from in effective management stabilities which

are highlighted in the observation and recommendations of report few matters that

come the attention as a defect of management system in notably training accident

precaution.

Breaches of statutory laws like wish 1, power, where found in many places in

the work site this needed to be rectified to attain maximum safety for the

organization.
