Containers are an increasingly important way for developers to
package and deploy applications that are easily migrate-able across
any platform. Containers provide a consistent, portable software
environment for applications to run and scale anywhere, giving you
the fl exibility to plan your business for the future.
Containerisation enables your team to deliver applications more
rapidly. Containerised applications operate in their own isolated
bubbles and are abstracted from the hardware and operating
system they are running on. This means they run more predictably
as they are moved through the application delivery process through
application development and testing environments, to the staging
area and ultimately to fi nal production.
Datacom Govt.Container is powered by Red Hat OpenShift Container
Platform (OCP), which provides a suite of services for developers to
quickly develop, build, deploy and manage containerised services
within Datacom’s secure, government accredited Infrastructure-as-
a-Service (IaaS) platform, Datacom Cloud Services for Government
(DCSG). Govt.Container is built around a core of open-source
application containers powered by Docker, with orchestration and
management provided by Kubernetes, on a foundation of Red Hat
Enterprise Linux.
