• Take out your essay and grab a different colored pen and marker

• Go through your essay and make sure that each requirement on the checklist appears in your essay. Write notes to yourself on the actual paper or on the grid so that you can add, delete, or change an idea

• I will call you up in alphabetical order to check essay completion.

• Complete drafts will earn 25 points; partial drafts will receive partial credit

• When you finish self editing your own essay, switch your assignment with a partner of your own choosing

• Give your partner the essay and the rubric to peer edit your essay

• After you and your partner finish editing one another’s essays based on the rubric, conference with one another about things your partner did well and things that your partner can work on

• You should write AT LEAST 5 comments on your friend’s rubric
