We are getting ready for graduation and the seniors have started counting down the days. The seniors last day of classes will be Wednesday, May 20 and graduation is at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, May 22, 2015. The seventh and eighth grades finished up the Badger State Tests on Monday 4-27-15. We have a few make-ups to complete with individual students. The ninth and tenth grade students will be working on their ACT Aspire tests starting Monday, May 4 and finishing up on Thursday, May 14. As the weather warms up, we need to work together to keep our students in school and on track. Keep in mind that the Bowler School District has a dress code (in the Student Handbook) that is board approved and needs to be followed. Remind students to please dress appropriately for school. The 4th quarter is one of the hardest quarters to complete as the weather gets nice and students want to be outside. Skyward access is available to all parents if they have internet access. Please do not hesitate calling teachers about how your son/daughter is doing in school. We need to work as a team for the benefit of all our children. Please call the High School office if your son/daughter is going to be absent. Summer School information is available. Make sure you get your son/daughter registered for classes as soon as possible. If you need a summer school brochure please contact Beth Fuerst in the high school office. Remember Homework Club is available Tuesdays and Thursdays if students need assistance in keeping up with assignments or just need a quiet place to study. We have many good things going on in Bowler, let’s continue to strive for excellence with our students! FFA Handi Helper Auction & Banquet Thank you to all the buyers that participated in this year’s Handi Helper auction on March 26th. With the sale of 50 FFA members we raised money to assist with the costs for students to attend various functions, such as leadership conferences and state and national conventions. Our annual FFA banquet will be held on Monday, May 11th, at 8:00 PM at the Woodland in Gresham. Arrive early for ideal seating. The ticket cost for the banquet is $13 per person. If you would like to reserve a seat, please contact the high school office at (715)793-4101 and they will direct you to the FFA Advisor, Ms. Mencheski. Sophomore Class Fundraiser Thank you to everyone who purchased homemade pizzas from the sophomore class fundraiser. We sold 425 pizzas. This fundraiser was a huge success! We would like to especially thank Mullins Cheese for donating 75 lbs. of Mozzarella cheese to make the pizzas. We are well on our way to an exceptional prom next year and a Chem- Free graduation party. We hope you enjoyed the pizzas and will support us again next year. TITLE VII MEETING
There will be a Title VII meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bowler High School Library. Families of American Indian students attending school in the School District of Bowler are invited to attend. The meeting will help attendees understand the Title VII program and offer a chance to share recommendations for the 2015-2016 school year.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY NEWS The National Honor Society of the Richard H. Liska Memorial Chapter will have five students graduating this 2015 school year. The graduating students from Bowler High School are: Liana Matz, Cody Montez, Cassandra Brei, Zachary Olson, and Drew Payne. In her exit interview Liana Matz informed us that she will be attending NTC in the fall with a degree plan of Early Childhood Education. She chose this plan as she enjoys working with children and feels she understands their learning abilities. Her favorite academic memory at Bowler High School was chemistry class where she got to see specific chemicals put together for chemical reactions. Cody Montez spent two years in NHS at Bowler High School; in his exit interview he informed us that he will be attending UW-Madison with a degree plan of Biomedical Engineering, working in that field when he is done with schooling. Cody will move to wherever the job is! His favorite academic memory was competing and trying to solve problems at math meets. He is the salutatorian of the class of 2015. Cassandra Brei entered NHS this past year because she believed it would help her become a better person and enhance her future opportunities. She plans on going to Marian University in the fall majoring in Forensic Science with a minor in Chemistry and Computer Forensics. She plans on being a forensic analyst. Her favorite academic memory at school was chemistry class. Zachary Olson entered the NHS this past year to see what opportunities would present themselves in the club. He hopes that the PBIS/NHS School store continues and has fond memories of Bowler High School and the quiz bowl and math meets. He plans on going to UW-Green Bay for General or Electrical Engineering. Drew Payne has been in NHS for two years, and stated in his exit interview that he applied to NHS because he thought it would be fun and look good on a college application. He plans to attend the University of Minnesota Twin Cities majoring in Food Science with a minor in Meat Science. He also has a favorite academic memory of math meets in Stevens Point. He is the valedictorian of the class of 2015. Please join me in giving praise to our academic elites at Bowler High School as we wish them well in their future endeavors! SUPER MILEAGE VEHICLE NEWS The Super Mileage Vehicle class had their first competition on April 17th and 18th in Menomonie Wisconsin on the campus of UW-Stout. Bowler High School students
entered two vehicles into this first WEEVA event of the season, number 66 and number 68. The students have been working extra hours the last couple of weeks to get
ready for the event and in my opinion it still wasn’t quite enough for the simple reason that they didn’t have time to make test runs. We left for Stout at 8:15 Friday
morning and arrived at the event 3 hours later and both teams went through inspections. The inspections include tests for vision, size of vehicle, evacuation from the
vehicle, stopping distance and maneuverability. Both the 66 and the 68 made it through the inspection phases without any issues. On Saturday it was a different story
as both cars had a whole host of problems to deal with; from leaky gaskets at the carburetor on the 66 to a bent sprocket on the 68. However, this is what Super
Mileage Vehicle is all about; dealing with problems as they arise and correcting them. Both teams made corrections and did well enough to win three awards; 66 got
second place in gas mileage averaging 190 miles per gallon and 68 got third place averaging 130 miles per gallon. The team also brought back to Bowler a third award,
the team spirit award.
On Friday April 24th and 25th, the Bowler Super Mileage and Electrathon vehicles made their way to Appleton and Kaukauna to a competition hosted by Fox
Valley Technical College (FVTC) and to Wisconsin International Speedway (WIR). The competition was a very valuable learning experience for all of the Bowler
students involved. In its first year as a class, they built two new vehicles and refurbished another for a total of three vehicles competing at the event. None of
the vehicles went through the two day event without some sort of breakdown, some were more serious than others. The #68 car had a whole host of issues
starting with safety inspections on Friday. The vehicle's main members consisting of juniors Jared Rickert, Cole Beirman and Case Wildenberg who were able to
overcome these minor issues before moving onto the braking and maneuverability. Beirman was the driver for this portion of the contest and he sailed through
the braking inspection without incident. Things did not go as well in maneuverability though, halfway through the course the car lost a heim nut which caused
the front left wheel to become unattached from the vehicle. Contest officials gathered around the disabled vehicle to discuss the fate of the car. They gathered
the team together and asked them what their solution was to fixing the car and after several minutes of discussion the officials told them what had to be
done. The team acquired the parts needed to fix the problem and finished the maneuverability station the next day. On the track the vehicle was mechanically
sound, but the crew was disappointed with the results, as the car struggled to get to the 100 mile per gallon mark. The #66 team was told that their vehicle was
not up to safety code as stated in the WEEVA parameters, however, they were allowed to compete but the corrections would have to made by the next
event. Jacob Stewart was the driver for the braking and maneuverability and had no problems in the braking station. Stewart then moved over to
maneuverability, where the car shined brightest, as he whistled through the course in 18 seconds beating the next team by 2 seconds taking 1st place in the
contest. On the track, the #66 car was also driven by Cody Thiex and Jacob Strassburg where the vehicle averaged 160 MPGs before both mechanical and engine
issues ended their day. The new electrathon car is #64 and was not quite ready when the team arrived at FVTC, as we needed to stop on the way there to
purchase the required mirrors. Upon unloading the trailer, the team, led by Drew Payne, attached the mirrors and had no issues getting through
inspections. Payne took the car to braking and maneuverability and was outstanding in the braking contest where he was able to bring the vehicle to a stop in 9
feet which was good enough to bring home a 1st place trophy. In the Electrathon competition, the goal is to travel as far as you can in one hour or until your
battery power is depleted. In the two heats, in which Payne drove in, was able to go 17 and 16 miles before the batteries ran out of energy. In the final heat,
Cole Bierman took the driver's seat and was able to get another 16 miles. When the results were added up, the Bowler team was awarded a 3rd place trophy in
their class. The 2 day contest was a valuable learning experience for the Bowler SMV students for developing organization skills, communication skills, and to
work together as a team to help each other accomplish a goal.

WHAT ARE WE DOING IN MR. IGL’ S PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES IN APRIL The preschool and kindergarteners worked with reviewing skills and tag games. The second graders worked on batting/striking skills with and without a tee, along with reviewing skills and tag games. The fourth and fifth graders worked on softball/baseball skills and activities. The sixth through eighth grade worked on softball/baseball skills and games. Spring is finally here and I am hoping to get outside a little more with the students.

I can’t believe the school year is almost over. This will be the last chalk dust for the school year. The “BUCKY” winners were; Mrs. Dantoin’s first grade class with 17 points, and then the afternoon Pre-school with 21 points. Way to go!! The “JORDY”winner was; Ms. Gotlaere’s first grade class with 389 laps. Way to go first graders!! The STAR of the month was Miley Moreno for running the whole time during running for Jordy. Way to go Miley!! The classes will still be competing for “JORDY” & “BUCKY” until the end of the school year. High School is still working on their core and flexibility. Some of the students have improved on this, and this is nice to see. I have heard some students saying, “Hey! I can finally touch my toes, or I feel more flexible.” This makes me feel good to know that their hard work is paying off. Let’s hope they can keep this going through the summer. Saturday night on April 25, the gym was alive with numerous high school students dressed in their finest. Reigning over the festivities were King Cody Thiex and Queen Nicole Waters. Miniature King was Zane Grosskreutz and miniature Queen was Danica Peters.

BOWLER AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY EVENTS
The Historical Society will be open to the public on the 1st Tuesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. until noon to
provide opportunities for viewing displays and bringing in any donations of artifacts and documents relating
to the history of the Village of Bowler and the townships of Almon, Bartelme, Morris and Seneca.
Arrangements for other visits can be made by appointment by contacting Archives Director, Erin Miller

Watch for more information related to happenings at the Historical Society in August during the Bowler Bash.
Planned events include an open house with new displays, outside flea market, Ring the Church Bell and car

3RD QUARTER ELEMENTARY REWARDS DAY As part of our PBIS incentive at Bowler Elementary, a basketball game and related activities were held at the end of the 3rd quarter on March 27th. The k-3 students competed in basketball relay races while the 4th through 6th grade took on the teachers in a basketball game. Only those students with 0 -1 detentions could participate. CANCER AWARENESS WEEK AT BOWLER ELEMENTARY
Teachers Brandi Dove and Dean Hermsen displaying their best camo attire during Cancer Awareness Week recently held at Bowler Elementary. The day was meant to illustrate “hunting down cures for cancer.”

BOWLER ELEMENTARY SCIENCE FAMILY NIGHT
On April 14th, a total of 140 people attended a family night featuring the Raptor Education Group from Antigo, Wisconsin. Some of the birds shown were owls and hawks. It was coordinated by the 3rd and 4th grade teachers. Pictured are Raptor employees showing and sharing information about their birds and what they do for the communities.

The 6th grade band perform at Bowler’s first ever Variety Show on April 1st. A total of 25 acts took part in this first ever event at Bowler Elementary. The performances were presented to the entire k-6 student body and community members. The event was coordinated by teacher Nels Steffen.

MINUTES, BOWLER BOARD OF EDUCATION, Monday, March 16, 2015 Board Approved – April 20, 2015 Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Board President, Debra Roth at 6:00 p.m. It was certified that the meeting was given proper notice. Ossman. Approval of agenda: Motion by Furest, seconded by Schultz for approval of meeting agenda. Motion carried. Approval of minutes of prior meetings: Motion by Herzberg, seconded by Fuerst to approve the minutes of the February 16, 2015 meeting. Miller inquired if there is protocol for an excused absence. Motion carried. Approval of payment of vouchers: Motion by Miller, seconded by Fuerst to approve vouchers 64855 through 64954, seven (7) manual checks and seven (7) voided checks. Motion carried. Building and Grounds Committee will meet on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. The Wellness Committee met on March 10, 2015. Mrs. Ninabuck summarized the meeting where they discussed incentives, food types, a Health Fair tent and plans for next year.
New Business: Motion by Fuerst, seconded by Herzberg to approve one (1) student to register for fall Youth Options program. Mrs. Ninabuck reviewed the request. Discussion followed. Motion carried. Motion by Fuerst, seconded by Herzberg to approve summer school dates and teacher pay for summer school. Mr. Turner presented the dates, student ranges and pay. Teacher pay was kept at the same rate as last summer. Discussion was held regarding possibly raising teacher pay for summer school. Roll call vote was taken to approve summer school dates and teacher pay at the same rate as last summer. Fuerst-yes; Grosskopf- no; Herzberg- yes; Miller- yes; Schultz- yes; Smith- no and Roth-no.
