City Campus
Description of the Programme
The National Diploma: Graphic Design programme is designed to prepare students for a place in the world of visual communication,
design, digital design and advertising. It will help students develop an
individual creative ability as well as a recognition and understanding
of current market demands, trends and technology requirements.
The philosophy of the Graphic Design programme comes from its professional nature. It is concerned with providing an exciting
educational experience that encourages experimentation and
creativity in order to arrive at diverse and exciting solutions to
real design problems, without losing sight of the realities of the
graphic design industry.
The assignment based structure and operation of the programme
is designed to develop and empower students with the skills to take
a project from start to finish with minimal supervision, whilst at
the same time providing the infrastructure to support and
encourage unique and relevant solutions to problems. The
programme concentrates on a hands-on approach to the
social, commercial and industrial needs of the industry and
society. Students are taught how to work under pressure in
meeting deadlines. Team work, realistic contemporary projects
and regular industry contact develop self-confidence, professionalism and a sense of responsibility.
Students work with up to date, industry-standard computer
equipment and software from First Year onwards. New
technological developments and training are part of the dynamic
programme.
After completing the three year, full-time, diploma, you can extend your studies to complete the one year full-time/2 year part-time
B Tech Degree in Graphic Design and the research based MTech
Degree in Graphic Design.
