Custom shapes are vector designs for all kinds of work in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. The sets generally include the designs in standard CSH format, some also include EPS and other formats for use in other applications. All are vector designs for any size of document

The custom shapes for for CS5 CS4 CS3 etc PC and MAC OS X. The custom shapes are vector designs for any size of document and artwork. The shapes are all stored in CSH format.

The shapes sets include Christmas shapes, flourish shapes, alien shapes, celtic shapes, heart designs, checkerboards, grids, arrows, lattices, orbits, dinosaurs, cats, dogs, people, roman type, Anglo-Saxon type, flowers, scrapbooking designs, buttons and many more

Brushes

Brushes are in ABR format, easy to use and open via the file > open command. More recent packs include the same designs also in PNG and they can be used as brushes in many other apps. The brushes are all 300 DPI, vary in sizes though

One thing to note with the brushes, they are for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements only for the collection and the first 8 packs, for the rest of the packs, they are also for PSP, Xara and many others.

Patterns

Displacements / textures

The displacement files are for Photoshop as well as Photoshop Elements, they are standard PSD files. They can also be converted into other formats such as PNG or JPG via the batch process in Photoshop or using another application. Seamless designs

The displacement maps / textures are PSD format files, they can be used in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements as well as any application that supports PSD format files (PSD is the standard Photoshop file format). The PSD files are grayscale files. The displacements can be used via the filters menu (displace, glass etc), they can also be used as textures or used with layer effects (requires import of PSD and define pattern command). The PSD files can be used in PSP, Xara and others.

Gradients

Gradients are made up of two or more stops. The gradients can be applied to any size of document or layer. The gradients can be applied once or multiple times, using the same blending mode or different blending modes or opacities. Use with text, layers etc

The gradients are for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements only, they cannot be used in any other application (none that I am aware of anyway).

The gradients are stored in standard Photoshop GRD format, load via the file > open command in Photoshop or via the load / replace functionality in the gradient palette. Once loaded, the gradients can be used in countless ways via the gradient tool, layer effects, fill layer etc

Styles

Styles are made up of many different elements such as drop shadow, inner glow, bevel, pattern, gradient, stroke etc. Not all styles contain all of the above. In Photoshop, you can add and remove elements of the style; in Photoshop Elements, you can only use the style ‘as is’

The styles are for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements only. The styles cannot be used in any other application (none that I am aware of anyway).

The styles / layer effects are stored in standard Photoshop ASL format.

Load the Photoshop styles via the file > open command in Photoshop or via the load / replace functionality in the style palette (in the case of Photoshop).

Once loaded, the styles can be applied to layers or text layers.

You can modify the layer effect either via the layer scaling command or directly by using the layer effects dialog where a new drop shadow can be added or a bevel modified or a pattern changed.

Plug-ins / filters

The plug-ins are all 8BF files, to install simply add them to the plugin / plug-in path of the host application. PC only.

Before graphicxtras.com, there was ‘Andrew’s Filters’ - a fairly popular 1000 plug-ins set and they were shareware, created using Filter Factory plugin. Our latest plug-ins no longer use Filter Factory

The new series is called “Andrew’s plugins”. They

only run on the PC (windows 7, vista etc) - there is no mac version.

The plug-ins have many new powerful features such as

scripting and the ability to run as a Photoshop action (only in Photoshop, of course)

The plug-ins all include 100 output modes (so the end result is the inverse, the red channel etc of the effect); effect modes (where a blur or smear or sepia etc effect is based on the plugin result). The plug-ins also include literally millions of possible output post-processing gradient / color effects.

The plug-ins are for Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and many other PC applications. 20 sets in total. A total of 180 great plugins.

Graphics

The sets initially started out as artworks for Photoshop Elements, the PDF designs can be used in countless other applications. You can, of course, simply import the designs and convert to JPG or PNG etc and use in virtually all graphic applications

Vector shapes packs for Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Pages,

the designs in EPS format as well). Easy to use, simply

access the designs via the file > open command or file > import or

equivalent (such as Choose). Vector designs so they can be used with any size of document.

Swatches

Vector designs (as with the brushes, styles and symbols) for any size of document. Once selected, the swatch design is added to the current document’s resources and can be edited (color changed etc)

Patterns and gradients for Illustrator, stored in standard Illustrator format AI files. The swatches are accessed via the swatches palette, open via the right side menu of the palette. The patterns and gradients can be applied to paths and text, they can be rotated, scaled, combined via the appearance palette and much more

Brushes

The brushes are either scatter or artistic but the brushes can be quickly converted between the two formats, simply drag the brush from the palette to the artboard and then re-drop back into the brushes palette as a new brush and select the other formats

Brushes are either artistic or scatter format brushes (no

pattern brushes as yet or blob or later). The brushes are all stored in native Illustrator format AI files, accessed via the brushes palette right side

menu. Once loaded, the brushes can be modified,

tinted, rotated, tweaked and more. The brushes can be applied to paths as well as brush strokes and text.

GRAPHIC STYLES

The graphic styles can be modified via the appearance palette, by removing or adding or duplicating a fill or stroke, by changing a blending mode or adding an effect, or by adding a stroke - amazing styles can be created from any set - and applied to text and paths

Graphic styles are combinations of effects, patterns and

gradients; styles can be applied to paths and text. Graphic styles are stored in standard Illustrator AI files and are accessed via the graphic styles palette.

The styles can be further manipulated via the

appearance palette.

SYMBOLS

Symbols can be applied ‘as is’ - simply drag to the artboard; or they can be applied via the symbol sprayer tool and re-sized / rotated / stained / styled / shifted and more. Symbols are vectors and can be used with any size of document.

Illustrator AI file, load them via the symbols palette menu. Once accessed, the symbols can be modified, colored, replaced, re-applied and

PLUG-INS

Plug-ins all come with presets (generally down the right side of the plug-in dialog) to give a few hints towards the use. The plug-ins can be used as is but the number of possible settings and uses are nearly infinite. Most work with text but the text needs to be converted to a symbol

For IllustratorPLUG-INS FOR ILLUSTRATOR

Plug-ins are for Illustrator only, must make that clear from

the start. The plug-ins, depending on the set, can be toolbox based or via the filter menu (with CS4 and CS5, the object filter menu). The toolbox

plug-ins include multi-tool (grid, row, spiral, paint etc)

effects based on selected paths or images or symbols; vector wand - paint on effects such as scaling or color or rotation or shift of paths or points. The filter based plug-ins include contour (scaling) plug-in, star plug-ins, duplication plug-in, symbol plug-ins, zoom manga line plugin, spiral plug-in, mesh plug-in, gradient plug-ins and many more. They are easy to install, simply place the AIP plug-in into the plug-in path of Illustrator and re-start Illustrator. And create.

EPS

The font sets include the same designs in EPS format. The EPS files work fine PSP, Photoshop etc - some applications such as Photoshop Elements cannot ‘see’ the design on import - only as a layer. A third party browser may help but not all of those support EPS either.

For AllFONTS / EPS

The font sets include designs in TTF (true type format); the

designs are also included as a bonus in EPS format (as EPS support varies from application to application). The TTF fonts are easy to install

and use, add via control panel on the PC and via the

font book application on OS X. Once installed, access the font via the typeface menu and the individual designs via the keyboard (as you would Times New Roman, Verdana etc) The font sets are for all applications that support text input: Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, QuarkXpress, CorelDRAW, Xara, 3D applications, DTP applications, Pixar Typestry, GIMP, Xara and many others

Preset Shapes

The preset shapes are installed in the preset shapes folder, to find that you either must search your disk OR simply go to the file > preferences > file locations > preset shapes and use the one listed or create a new folder for the pspshape files. Use via the preset shapes tool

Preset shapes for PSP (Paint Shop Pro from Corel) are

vector designs stored in PSPshape format (some are also in an earlier format JSL). The shapes are vectors for all kinds of documents. Access via

the preset shapes tool. Install the shapes in the

preset shapes folder. The shapes can be re-colored, tweaked, duplicated and more
