A gray wolf has awesome characteristics. A gray wolf is 64 inches long. It’s length helps it to eat its prey by letting it eat bigger prey. Its tail is 22 inches long. DietDo you know what a gray wolf eats? A gray wolf eats many animals like lemmings and moose. They also eat elk and whole chickens. They eat deer too. And they eat caribou, dall, sheep, voles, ground squirrels, snowshoe hares, beavers, birds, fish, rabbits, beef, knuckle bones, and trout. It eats many, many things. Without food, they would not survive in the wild.

Family

A gray wolf has an exciting family. There are about 20 wolves in a pack. When the pups are older, they live away from the den. Adults work together to hunt food and take care of their babies. By winter, the pups can hunt with the pack. The mother protects the pups. Without parents, the pups won’t survive.

There are dangers for a gray wolf. The gray wolf is hunted by humans. It also has habitat loss. Its predator is the coyote. The mother will growl when an enemy comes close. It may even attack if the enemy come closer. The gray wolf does have dangers. Without dangers gray wolves may survive.

There are interesting facts about the gray wolf. A gray wolf can hold 1,500 pounds with their jaws and can smell prey miles away. And can hunt prey 10 times their size! They also can eat 20 pounds during a meal! Each wolf plays a role in hunting. They are interesting characteristics. Without them, the gray wolf may not survive.
