Who was Hesaphaestus ?(VULCAN AND MULCIBER)

• The God of Fire , the son of Zeus and Hera , sometimes Hera alone . He was ugly and lame as well . His shameless mother , when she saw he was born deformed she cast him out of heaven . In Homer he was in no danger of being driven from Olympus . He was highly honored .

Hestia (VESTA)

• She was Zeus sister like Athena and Artemis a virgin goddess .

She had no distinct personality she plays no part in in the stories . Hestia was the Goddess of the Hearth . Symbol of the home .

• Every city had a public hearth similar to Hestia . Colonists carried coals from the hearth of the mother

city .

Cupid and Psyche

• Psyche’s beauty spread throughout the earth . Men everywhere traveled to look at her with amazement and admiration . She never fell in love . Shockingly no one fell in love with her . Men content to wonder and worship . She sat dreadful in solitary, only admired NEVER loved . No one wanted her . Her father traveled to an oracle of Apollo to ask advice on how to find her a husband. Cupid and Psyche were formally married .

Pyramus and Thisbe

• He most beautiful youth and her a lovely maiden of the East . They both lived in Babylon city of Queen Semiramis .Growing up side by side they grew to love each other . They both wanted to marry , but their parents forbade it .Every morning around dawn they’d steal to the crack . They’d decided that that very night they would try to escape and steal out through the country where

they would be free together .

Orpheus and Eurydice• Orpheus was the greatest by far . He

was on his mother’s side , he was more than mortal . The son of the Muses and the Thracian prince . He was given the gift of music from Thrace where he grew up . Thracians were the most musical people of Greece .There was no limit to his power when he played and sung . He moved rocks of the hill side .His fated marriage . It is better known than his music .He first met and hitched the maiden he cherished Eurydice . They got married but the happiness was very brief . After the wedding she died of a viper sting .

Cexy and Alcyone

• Ceyx was a king Thessaly the son of Lucifer the light bearer , the star that brings in the day . His wife’s name was Alcyone also of high descent . She was the daughter of Aeolus the King of the Wind . Both loved each other devotedly and never willing to

separate .

Daphne

• Daphne was independent , love – and marriage hating huntress . She is known to be Apollo’s first love , but she fled from him . One unfortunate maiden after the other . The gods had to kill her child secretly or she

would be killed. She really wasn’t an important role in mythology .
