Largely self-taught, his work is the result of building up fine layers of glaze, often dozens of layers just to produce a sky. This time-consuming technique produces unique tonal depth, a technique perfected by the Renaissance masters. This show focuses on landscapes and vineyard paintings. 6 PM | gilt+gossamer (873 Willamette St) M.V. Moran exhibits “anxious circles-despondent spheres” through the end of January 2018. Her newest body of work is about the process of creating that relieves stress and anxiety. The paintings transform everyday melancholy, strife, and anxiousness into artwork that takes away daily burdens. 6:30 PM | InEugene Real Estate (100 E Broadway) Wesley Hurd presents “In the Silence.” In his statement, he writes, “These works reflect the psychic movement from the loudness and turmoil of everyday life to a quietude of inward questioning and rumination. My intention is to use solitary color and values to elicit silence in the face of inexplicable and the seeming non-answerable questions that confront us.“ 4 7 PM | Passionflower Design (128 E Broadway) Potter Mary Briggs (image on right) shows pieces from her latest collection. Mary is deeply influenced by European folk pottery and blends old world techniques, earth toned palettes, 3D sculpture, and landscape painting into her one-of-a-kind pieces. Also, stop by the Beauty Bar to try samples of body care, perfumes, and lotions and enjoy complimentary hair braiding by Stefani Newman, henna hands by Henna Queen, and temporary tattoos. 5 7:30 PM | Oregon Art Supply (1020 Pearl St) “Boundaries: A Six-Woman Show” features work by Zoe Cohen, Jenny Gray, Ann Hamilton, Rebecca Mannheimer, Sarah Sedwick (image on left), and Beverly Soasey.
