Compare or update data from the ATO client list into your database
HandiTax allows you to import data from your ATO client list into its database.
Importing from the ATO client list
Note: Extreme caution needs to be exercised as this is a powerful utility. Please Back
Up your data and ensure it can be restored prior to utilising this function. If used
inappropriately, you can only recover data by restoring from backup
The ATO Client List is a solicited report received from the ATO (via the ELS) showing all
clients that the ATO has associated with your accounting practice.
After obtaining an electronic copy of the ATO Client List, you will be able to:
Add new clients and returns from the list to your HandiTax client database;
Update existing client and return details (specifically the latest date for lodgment,
tax level, substituted accounting period and late lodger status according to the
ATO's records);and
Tag clients and returns (either all clients that appear in the list or those whose
client details have changed, or where the name, tax level or lodgment status is
different).
You are also able to view the differences between the ATO Client List and the client
database before any records are imported and to print the client list (with or without
highlighting changed cases) after records are imported.
To update your database from the ATO Client List
1. From the Client menu, point to ATO Client List (Compare /Update) and click
Update client from ATO Client List.
2. Select the ATO Client List you wish to use and click OK.
3. In the Update clients from ATO Client List window, make your selections and
click OK.
