Unit Hantis (Beginner Class)

Day 1

Objectives: By the end of class all students will be able to:

Perform the basics of a Hantis serve

Be able to return a serve

Know how to pass to their partner

Score two points in one play

Know the basic rules of Hantis

Equipment:

Tennis Balls (# class dependent)

Tables (# class dependent 4 per game)

Safety:

Have tables properly spaced out (3 to 5 feet)

Have playing space clear of foreign objects

Assessment Suggestions:

Direct observation

Completion of drills

Effort of participation in the game

120 minutes total

Minute 0 to 5 Locker room dressing out meet in classroom

Minute: 5 to 15-25 Warm-up activities/ expectations

Human Knot: put all students in a circle shoulder to shoulder (can be split into more groups if

needed). Have students put there right hand out and hold a hand across from them after all hands

are grabbed have them do the same with the left hand. Now they must untangle themselves

without anyone letting go. Can time the activity to see how long it takes to compare for the

future to show communication skills becoming more effective.

Minute 15-25 to 25-45

Teach/ demonstrate the rules of Hantis (serve, returns, how to score, how many times you can

touch, what can body parts can you use, how to score 2 points in one possession, how you can

move in the game, how to start the game, score to win 21, what a fault is, what you do when hit

game point) Can bring some volunteers to sample and demonstrate a few rounds of a game.

Minute 25-45 to 105

Split class to all games (either all separate games or a rotating game) and play Hantis

Minute 105-110

Review the lessons of the day/ put away materials

Minute 110 to 120

Send students to locker room to prepare for next class
