The Holiday of Hanukkah

Hanukkah is similar to Christmas in many ways

- We celebrate with our family - It is celebrated in the winter - We open presents - We eat a big meal - We decorate the house - We play games

Hanukkah is not the same time every year. Some years it is in November, and other years in December. This year, it started on November 27th. It will end December 4th.

Instead of a Christmas tree, we have a menorah. A menorah holds candles.

HANUKKAH is for 8 NIGHTS. Every night we LIGHT a CANDLE to remember the history of the JEWISH people.

We light a candle when the sun goes down and say a special prayer

Each year I celebrate with my family. We have a big party!

We have presents!

We eat a special type of food for Hanukkah called LATKES. They are made out of potatoes
