Dear Tanaka

It is my heartfelt desire that the celebration of this

Christmas among us will not be limited to the exchange of

material gifts and of some conventional words. In

this festive season I wish you:

A Christmas Season plenty ofLOVE ... and of

FORGIVENESS

Of LOVE, because it is with a loving attitude that we canfind the real meaning of life, and

Of FORGIVENESS, because it is by forgiving that we best

manifest our love.

But above all I wish you and your loved ones will receive

from heaven all His blessings when you assemble to

celebrate the birth of Christ. Because it is only with the

family that we can have a really Merry Christmas.

"We were given the task to keep order and decency

in our small and cozy world" - this was the message

of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International, in

Mexico's Convention of 1935. The Brazilian Paulo

Viriato Correa da Costa, Rotary International's President in

1990/91, later added that: "We recognize that

Rotary does not have the power of governments,

nor does it have the force of armies; it does

not have the money of great corporations, either, or

the mystique of religions, that promise eternallife. But Rotary does have leaders and

volunteers who are ready to offer their best in favor

of a better world, where the dream of world peace

may come true."

I fraternally address this Christmas message to those who

share with me the rejection of violence, social exclusion,

hunger, misery, disrespect for human dignity and for

nature, as well as wars motivated by greedy economic

interests, in which young men kill each other unjustifiably!

My spirit is ideologically unarmed, my soul tries to see

through the eyes of the Creator and my heart pulses

strongly with love for the essence of the human being.

May you have healthy moments of meditation in this

season when we feel inclined to introspection and

fraternity. With my best wishes,

many things going on in our city and our country that is

Dear Ronaldo

I hope you are keeping well and that all is good in your part

of the world. We are keeping well. We are currently having

plenty of rain in Zimbabwe. Our daughter is currently

studying at Saint Marys University in Canada. During the

holidays she came home and we spent the Christmas and

new year holidays together. She advises that its currently

very cold in Halifax, Nova Scotia temperatures have

reached as low as minus 22 degrees
