All classes created their own list of “norms” to follow beyond my list of expectations. Most classes put kindness, honesty, respect, preparedness, and attentiveness on their lists. They are expected to hold themselves and each other to these standards, as well as myself! They helped me create a list of consequences (shown to the left), as well as rewards. Rewards include praise, positive phone calls home, candy, free time, homework passes, stickers, bonus points, and game time.

1. Warning2. Student Coference

3. Phone Call Home4. Detention5. Admin Interferance

Grades (weight of assignments)❖ Homework (10%)❖ Class work and Tests (80%)❖ Interim Diagnostic (10%)

I do not give very much homework, so it is important to understand that when I do, it must be completed! All tests will have study guides that will be completed and gone over in class the days before the test. Study guide answer keys will be posted on Google Classroom, too the day before a test is given.

Grading Scale:A 93-100 B 85-92 C 75-84 D 67-74 F 66 and below

ZAP (Zeros Aren’t Permitted)Completing assignments are an essential component of your child’s learning experience. To maximize success at Slidell Junior High, we have adopted a “no zero policy” called “ZAP.” Students who fail to complete assignments will be pulled from PE or will come in before school to complete their work, losing points for late work. When a student refuses to come make up the work 2 times, they will be assigned to ZAP Hall after school to complete missing work. Parents will be contacted.

Checking JPAMS/Grades:It is incredibly important to check studentgrades on a regular basis, and if you have anyquestions, do not hesitate to contact me.Incomplete grades or missing grades need to befinished in a timely manner.

Technical Problems

I understand technical issues happen. (It will happen to me, too). If possible, contact me prior to class to address technical problems. Assignments given as a worksheet through google classroom may not always work using computers at home.

Google Meets

I will start Google Meets for absent/quarantined students on August 25th. Students are expected to log onto Google meet using the link on the banner of google classroom in the first 5 minutes of their class hour. Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom to complete online, but they CAN be done on loose-leaf and turned in when the student returns. Just let me know this information, so I don’t mark the grade as a zero.
