The first scene starts with the shot of the main character who is in the bath, and has overdosed. It is a mid shot of her upper mid-riff to face. The inspiration from this shot comes from the music video of ‘Breezeblocks’. Other shots will include the ‘lifeless hand’ (as seen in the screenshot). The camera then zooms into her motionless eye and zooms back out to act as a transition to the next scene.

The second scene goes into the studio, where the female protagonist is tying her ballet shoes up. The lighting in the studio is monotone, to represent the bleak situation the protagonist faces. In the rest of the scene, we are going to use shots of her dancing around the studio, rather rigidly, showing her stress and aggression. The screenshots shown, are the inspiration for this scene.

The third scene transitions into, the protagonist dancing in her ‘free space’. The location of choice is still being finalised but with Dunston Common and Caistor St Edmund as potential locations, due to their open spaces. We want the open space to represent her freedom and liberation from oppression. The dancing in this scene, will be more fluid. There will be a range of long shots, and close ups to emphasise the freedom and fluidity of her dancing. The lighting will be bright to signify her happiness.

The next scene takes place in the protagonists house; where she is sitting watching a dance recital on TV. As she is doing this, her father walks in, drunk and abusive. He gets aggressive with the protagonist and throws her to the floor. She sits on the floor crying as the scene fades to black. It then transitions into the morning where she wakes up on the floor with smudged makeup.

She hears the letterbox shutter, making her run to the door to check for a letter. The letter she receives, notifies her of not being accepted into her dance academy. The protagonist runs out the door, and goes to her free place to dance.

In this penultimate scene, the video transitions from her dancing in the monotone studio, and her free place. In both locations her dancing is noticeably more aggressive, signifying her sadness and anger at her current situation. She is interrupted in the studio by her father, who once again takes his aggression out on her. He approaches her as she pleads not to be hurt. The transition to the next scene happens when he slaps her across the face.

In the final scene, the protagonist is back in the bathroom, with pills in her hand. Her intentions become clear as she takes the pills, with a single tear rolling down her eye. She looks in the mirror and sees a messy reflection. A streak of blood runs down her nose. The protagonist overdoses and the final shot is the same as the establishing shot, completing the circular narrative.
