Low Flying Vettes
The scene was the North Omaha Airport, newly renamed to the
Veterans Airport. Corvettes and other custom cars gathered to
honor veterans and contribute canned food to help those in need.
World Champion Stunt pilot Debby Rihn-Harvey, who has ties to
several members of CCC, made several spectacular passes over the
field. We can only wonder if she wished she could make a pass in a
Corvette instead.

After the show, some members made their way to the La Vista Convention Center with a special
purpose in mind. We had been invited to bring two of our partiotic cars to be placed at the entrance of
the convention hall to welcome veterans that evening.
Bill and Evonne Williams of Omaha, and their staff at Patriotic Productions, spend the entire year raising
money to send veterans to Washington D.C. as part of the Honor Flight program. The veterans are
honored at a dinner the evneing before the flight.
This year’s flight was the
first for VietNam vets and
they really seemed to
appreciate having the cars
there to greet them.
Nearly 1800 people were on hand to honor the veterans at the dinner. Speakers and dignitaries
included former Governor Dave Heinman and Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, as well as a Bob Hope
impersonator.

Convention Roars into Omaha
“Best convention ever!” That was the sentiment from many long-time convention visitors as over 400
people attended the week-long event. After 2 years of planning and working, the dream of the national
convention in Omaha became a
reality.
The La Vista Convention Center
was an excellent venue, serving
outstanding food, wonderful
service and a fabulous building
complete with reserved parking
for Corvettes.
The convention goers were treated an Elvis concert,
music by Pink Kadillac and Wheelin’ N Dealin’ and a
host of presentation and ceremonies.
5
The salute to the Armed Forces and First Responders brought everyone to their feet.
Mother Nature did her part by holding
off the rain for all but a part of one day.
In return, she gave us the hottest week
of the summer. That just seemed to
make those cold beverages taste so
much better in the hospitality room.
The tours were very popular and many
people said they could not wait to
return to Omaha. That may be some
time if they are waiting for the
convention to return here.
After all of the hard work, convention workers
were looking forward to well deserved rest. The
bar has been set very high for future conventions.

Appreciation for the 2016 Convention
I'd like to share my thoughts with you about the convention. As I stood at the podium Friday morning
basking in the glory of our accomplishments, I couldn't help but think that all of you that contributed in
any way with our success, should have been up there too. There's only been one or two other times
when I've been prouder. The highlights of the week have to be the Monday night salute to Veterans,
first and foremost. Thanks to Ray Kennedy for his efforts. Secondly, the organization of every one of our
events was outstanding. Believe it or not, people commented to me that was the first and foremost
thing they appreciated. The second thing was the activities they could participate in, and the last was
the great food at Embassy. Each and everyone of you that played a part in our success need to be
congratulated, is was a wonderful team effort. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the one person who
played the biggest part in our convention, Jerry Koraleski. All the things that you saw come off without a
hitch, that was because of his efforts. He and I spent thousands of hours preparing, but without his
guidance, it would have never been as flawless as it was. Thank you Jerry!!!!!! Take the next week off
and enjoy the summer.
Thanks again for everything.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Two years ago I stood in front of you and asked you as a club to host the 2016 NCCC convention. I was
so proud of you and our community and I wanted to show off what we had here.
You all exceeded my expectations. The tours to the Zoo, Borsheims, Lauritzen Gardens, Boystown and
the Air and Space Museum were conducted because of the contacts you all have. Thank you for a job
well done.
I knew we had the experience to put on low and high speed events. Thanks to Randy, Don, Ron and
Paul. Mother Nature was rough on us with the rain and heat but you did a great job. The competitors
enjoyed the track.
Bill and Sandy did a great job of memorializing this event in pictures. Thank you.
Special thanks to Gene and Jerry who bore the brunt of the work with many trips to St Louis in addition
to all the work they did to organize the event. I had a rough skeleton of an idea for a schedule. Gene
and Jerry flushed it out, dressed it up. THANK YOU!
You all put the bling on my initial idea. Thanks again for a job well done. I am so proud to be a part of
this organization.
Kathy Brisbois
We had the best time at the NCCC convention. The club did an awesome job planning for and hosting
this event. Thank you to all who worked so hard to put this convention together. Very well done!!!!!
Jacqueline Whitehead
What a busy, wonderful week we've had. Even though Pat & I voted "NO" on having the convention
here, (we're kind of lazy) we were happy to help and proud of all the Cornhusker Corvette Club gang
that worked so hard to make sure all our guests had a great time. And.....if anyone ever needs a
convention venue, we cannot say enough about what a great place the LAVISTA CONVENTION CENTER
was. Their staff bent over backwards to fulfill our many assorted needs. It is a beautiful place and we're
so happy to have it in our city! Best convention food EVER! I just can't say enough about how great they
were in every aspect possible!
And a special thanks to Gene Gau and Jerry Koraleski for their wonderful, tireless leadership. We
appreciate you guys more than we could ever say.

I want to say thanks to Sandy Swift and Bill Cashell for all the photos you took of everyone. Ray Kennedy
for all the transportation you set up. Everyone loved the fact that they didn't have to drive and get lost
going around Omaha. A huge thanks to all the workers that put on all the events and outings. I have
never seen so many happy people leaving convention before. YOU DID AND OUTSTANDING JOB. Now
that you see what convention is all about, maybe we can get you to go Bowling Green in 2017 where
you don't have to do anything but have a good time.
Proud to be a Cornhusker and part of the 10 time national club Champions.
Teresa Eller
Thanks to all who helped make this convention such a success

Dancing in the Street in Plattsmouth
As the evening started, it looked like a small group
of a little more than a dozen CCC members would be
at Mom’s Restaurant in downtown Plattsmouth for
dinner.
The group quickly grew to 36 as the people seemed
to come out of the woodwork.
After a delicious meal, the group moved outside to
enjoy a free concert by the band Daybreak.
Dancing broke out on Main Street as the CCC
members showed off their moves.
It wasn’t pretty, but it sure was fun.
10
Hot Summer Nights in Sioux Falls
Imagine downtown Sioux Falls lined with Corvettes and people. Every year before the Black Hills Rally, thousands
of people invade this town for a car show that is limited to Corvettes only. Kevin and Jayne Reit hosted the drive
up to this charming South Dakota city. The evening started with dinner at the popular restaurant Minerva’s and
ended with a stop for ice cream. No surprise there. Eating is what we do best.
11
Dog Day Afternoon at Petrow’s
What can be better on a hot afternoon than a cool beverage on a cool patio at Petrow’s Restaurant? The
only thing that would make it better is if all this fun could support a good cause. On this night, Petrows’s
was donating 15% of all of their sales to the Nebraska Humane Society. Some people even brought their
dogs as a show of support. My wife brought me to show her support. A good time was had by all.
12
German American Stein Night
On St. Patrick’s Day, everyone is Irish. On Stein Night at the German American Society, everyone is
German. That means you can bring your favorite stein and get it filled with one of the fabulous German
beers and enjoy a meal of German food. The CCC was well represented. Here are the highlights:
George & Carolyn greeted everyone
The Polka Police entertained us
Now, that is a Stein!
Dance Party!
The World Famous Chicken Dance
Joan joined the Polka Police
Table Dance anyone?
Polka Stars!
I’ll show you mine if
you show me yours
(Totally sober?)

Super Saturday
It had been a whole week since hosting the national convention, and the Cornhusker Corvette Club was
ready for action. The day started at Rick and Joan Harshbarger’s for the Gretna Parade.
Thousands of people lined the street on a picture perfect day. The line of beautiful Corvettes had to be
the highlight of the parade.
14
After the parade, it was off to Mama’s Pizza to do what we do best…eat!
Later that afternoon, it was a road trip to Lincoln’s James Arthur Vineyard where the popular ban, Tuna
Fish Jones was playing. This is Ken and Pattie Bena’s favorite band. Notice Pattie “photo-bombing” us.

NON SANCTIONED EVENT REMINDERS
Right now you may be looking at this
page and wondering, “Where is the
detailed information?” Good
question!
One problem we have had in the past
is having the detailed information on
the web site, in the newsletter and
emails from the Membership
Director. So, what happens if there is
a change in an activity, such as time,
date or location change?
Since the newsletter is only published
once per month, it is hard to
republish with every change. If
someone does not get the email or
check the web site, they could have
incorrect information. The solution
was to have the information is one
place – the easiest place to update to
make sure people have the most
current information.
From now on, the calendar on our
club website will be the place to go
for all of the most current details and
changes. Upcoming newsletters and
emails from the Membership Director
will only list events with no details.
They will direct you to the calendar
on the website for more information.
Always check there for the most
current information and updates.
Here is the link for the calendar

Have you ever seen this
before on reminders? It’s
very important!
NEED HEADCOUNT - contact Kathy
We have had a few issues at
restaurants where they have not had
enough food, tables or wait staff to
handle our large groups. Any time
it’s noted that a headcount is needed,
PLEASE notify the contact shown for
the social or event that you plan to
be there. That gives the venue
adequate time to make arrangements
for additional staff or food needed so
they can provide the best service and
experience for us. It’s a win-win for
everyone!
***Please remember to bring non perishable goods for the Food Bank to the monthly meeting. Also bring small unused toiletries you have from hotels for Mohm’s Place, a shelter in Council Bluffs.

2017 NCCC CONVENTION BACK ON
TRACK AGAIN
April 23rd at the NCCC second quarter Governor’s
meeting in St. Louis it was announced that the 2017
NCCC Convention was cancelled. NCCC had some
bumps in the road and a road block, but I want
everyone to know that the road has been repaired and
the NCCC 2017 Convention is back on the road ready
for everyone to head to Bowling Green, KY for the
58th annual party of Corvette events and fun. The
location is the home of the Corvette, the Corvette Assembly Plant, the National Corvette
Museum, and the new Motor Sports Park, and all there for NCCC to see, play, and have
fun. Check the NCCC Website for the latest updates.
The Chair people Richard Yanko and Deb Murphy are working on the event for next year.
The official announcement from Richard and Deb is below.
Thank you everyone for being patient while the details were worked out. All is good!
