Rehearsals and shows!
If you are cast, you are expected to be at every rehearsal you are called for from start time to end.
Rehearsals will run from 2:45 until 6:00 every day. If you have known conflicts, we expect you to list
them on your audition sheet and we will find ways to schedule or work around them. (please include
weekends as well) Last minute emergencies should see Mrs. Casavant or Ms. Janik directly. If a cast
member doesn’t attend rehearsals as needed, then they will not perform in the show.
NO ABSENCES ARE ALLOWED THE WEEK BEFORE AND THE WEEK OF THE SHOW
High School Musical: Acting information
If you are considering auditioning for a role in High School Musical here are some things to know:
Audition time slot will be available online. Look carefully at a calendar and choose a time the works for
you. Audition are done in 15 minute sessions. Each session will include 6 people. Each person will sing,
dance and act during that time.
The week of December 5th
We will have a full cast read through on Monday the 5th at 3pm and a parent meeting will follow at
6pm in the auditorium. The rest of the week will be 2:45 – 5:30pm.
A full show schedule will be available on the 5th, or online at www.hprodcshs.com
Other Rehearsals
1. If you are doing a winter sport there may be a number of conflicts that limit, or eliminate your
chances of being cast. Please be honest on your conflict lists and know that this is a big
commitment. We are going to put on a great show.
2. Remember that the last two weeks there are no absences allowed, (illness is an exception, but
needs to be communicated to the directors. Check your calendars now and schedule around
those dates.
3. Winter break will interfere with our rehearsal schedule. However, we will have our
choreography rehearsal during the tail end of it. That eliminates us from doing those after
rehearsals during the week. The dates for choreography are Jan 1st and 2nd. The time will run
most of the day, but you will only be required to be there part of each day. Please plan ahead
for those days.
4. We may have a few Saturday rehearsals as needed.
Monetary requirement
Student actors will be asked to cover the costs of a makeup kit, play t-shirt, and other costs during the
show. The cost is going to be $50.00 per cast member regardless of role that they are cast in. No cast
Member will be removed from the show if they can’t afford this cost. There will just need to be a
conversation between actor and director.
Audition sides
Each Student auditioning must choose only one of the following sides to perform solo at the audition.
Memorization of your choice is preferred buy not required.
Jack Scott:
Yo yo yo, Wildcats, listen up for the very first morning announcements of the brand-new year. This is
Jack Scott, the Velvet fog of East High with the Homeroom 411 on what’s going down and comin’ up this
week. The Science Decathlon finals are on Friday; see Taylor “learning Curve” McKessie for more skinny
on the hooey.
Ms. Darbus:
Well, once again, they forgot to announce the auditions for the winter musical, Juliet and Romeo,
written by our very own Kelsi Neilson. Kelsi, stand up and take a bow. It’s a delicious now-feminist
adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy of star-crossed lovers// with three – count ‘em three – tap
numbers!
Troy:
My parent’ friends are always saying, “your son is the basketball guy. You must be so proud.”
Sometimes I don’t want to be “the basketball guy”. I just want to be, you know, me. To them, I’m “the
playmaker dude.” I never thought about singing, that’s for sure. But when I look at you… It’s like
anything is possible, you know?
Gabriella:
At my other schools I was “the freaky math girl.” That’s all they thought I was… always pointing at me,
whispering behind my back. They made me feel like I was a freak and I hated it. That’s kind of why I
want to keep a low profile here, you know, so I can just be me. You’re the big basketball star – you love
the spotlight. I’m a lot happier curling up with a good book.
Sharpay:
So nice of you to show our new classmate around. Troy is such a sweetheart, isn’t he? He’s the star of
the basketball team, just like I’m the star of the Drama Club. We’re perfect for each other, don’t you
think? Are we having lunch together, Troy? Oh, look, the sign-ups for the musical. Oh.. were you going
to sign up, too? I’m so sure we could find something for you. The ugly old Nurse is lots of fun.
Ryan:
Everybody loves a good jazz square – It’s a classic. And why do we always have to do what you say?
Somebody in this room ought to chill out, sister. And it ain’t me. We’ll get the roles we want, we always
do. Sharpay, we’ve had the leads every year since birth. If we get it again, great. If not, we’ll still be
fabulous.
