Family Picnic The Highland Lodge Family Picnic will be held at the Sportsmen’s Club on Sunday, August 9. This is open to members, guests and prospective members, and of course, children. The Moose will provide beverages, fried chicken, bratwurst and hot dogs and all attendees are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert. There will be pinatas with candy and toys for the children in addition to fishing, bean bag toss, playground, etc. Adults will have bocce ball, bean bags, fishing, fun and fellowship. This is a fun time. The Highland Moose Lady of the Year will be presented. There will be a 50/50 drawing and Queen of Hearts.

Shoparoo Shoparoo is a downloadable application for your smart phone that allows you to build up credits for Mooseheart School, just by sending in photos of receipts. Similar to the old days of saving soda can tabs, etc. Most stores and receipts are eligible. On your smart phone, thru the internet browser, go to www.shoparoo.com. Follow directions on the phone. When you get a receipt, whether it is charge or cash, take a photo and submit it. You will be notified that it has been accepted. If you make a mistake or photo is not clear, don’t worry. The app allows you to correct it.

MOOSE - Build Our FoundationMay 1, 2015 - April 30, 2016

Building our membership to make the Moose stronger at the core level will be our commitment during the “Moose - Build Our Foundation” campaign year.

This year we will focus on growing our lodges and chapters, our foundation,in order to support these core values.

MAD Thursday We would like for each member to wear his Moose shirt on the 3rd Thursday of each month. The next MAD Thursday (Moose Awareness Day) will be on August 20. Show your Highland Moose pride.

John Kutz MemorialScholarship Raffle

The Highland Moose Lodge #2479 will be conducting a raffle to help support the John Kutz Memorial Scholarship that is given to one high school senior that meets the criteria. The raffle this year will be one ticket for $5 or 3 tickets for $10. There will be three prizes drawn. 1st place will receive $250 in gift cards and 10% of the net profit of all tickets sold. 2nd place will receive $150 in gift cards and 5% of the net profit of all tickets sold. 3rd place will receive $50 in gift cards and 2% of the net profit of all tickets sold. The winning tickets will be drawn at the Moose Christmas Party in December. If you are interested in supporting the John Kutz Memorial Scholarship and/or want to purchase raffle tickets, please contact Kevin Kruse via email at [email protected] or call 531-7208. 18th Anniversary Banquet We had over 100 Moose members, wives and guests for the Anniversary Banquet and Appreciation Night on June 22. Governor Jon Gould presented the Past Governor Plaque to Jr. Past Governor Ken Kapp who served May 1, 2013 to April 30, 2015.

Cole Landmann gave the Moose crowd a rundown of the Youth Awareness Congress that he attended in Orlando, FL. Cole was the Illinois Moose Representative.

Jr. Past Governor Ken Kapp presented a well deserved appreciation plaque to Tina Bradley who has helped organize our Youth Awareness participants, scholarship and essay contestants and any other student activity for the Moose. Tina retired from Highland High School on June 30, 2015 and we wish her well. Thank you Tina!

Pork Tenderloin Chefs: It was a very hot night, but the Moose Chefs: Garry Werner, Todd Schrage and Daryn Riechmann braved the temperature for a great dinner!

Highland Splash Swim Team

The Moose Lodge helped park cars for the Swim Meet hosted by the Highland Splash on July 18, 2015. Gov. Jon Gould also presented a $100 donation to Mike McGinley with Highland Splash.

Past Highland Moose Governor, Lee Rinderer and owner of Lee’s Fine Jewelry Loans and More, received the Bob Hardy Citizen of the Year presented by the Highland Chamber of Commerce at their annual meeting.

Highland Schweizerfest 2015 Thanks to all who showed up to help at the Schweizerfest stand on June 12, 13, 14. Boneless pork steaks were offered this year and they were very good. The weather Saturday was wonderful, but the rain on Sunday put a damper on our sales.
