Become a City AmbassadorTravel and tourism is big business. In

Central Ohio, visitors spend $7.8 billion each year, representing 10% of the local economy and supporting 61,000+ jobs like yours.

A positive visitor experience is critical to increase the number of visitors to our city and region, how much they spend and, most importantly, their desire to come back. The Greater Columbus Tourism Ambassador Program was developed to foster a destination-wide culture of quality service and welcom-ing residents. The Hilliard area hospital-ity industry can benefit by this program.

The objective of the Certified Tour-ism Ambassador™ (CTA) Program is to foster a destination-wide culture of quality service and a welcoming citizenry. As part of the CTA program, frontline employees, ambassadors and

volunteers improve their knowledge of the region, craft answers to frequently asked visitor questions, interact with peers, share best practices and overall develop a better understanding of their role in increasing tourism.

You are invited to enroll in the Greater Columbus Tourism Ambas-sador Program and join the 8000+ CTAs nationwide who have received this designation! There is a one-time non-refundable, non-transferable ap-plication fee of $29 per person and an annual renewal fee of $20 per person.

For additional information, access to the class schedule and to register, visit CTANetwork.com. You may also call Robbie Banks at Experience Columbus at 222-6149 or email [email protected]. Classes start the latter part of January.

MAKE YOUR GREAT OUTDOORSGREATER!

Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce Business Monthly

Spotlight on Business:Sunset Cemetery founded in 1922

This time of year my thoughts do not turn toward New Year’s resolutions. I can honestly say, in my per-sonal and business life, I have never made them. I think most business owners and sales professionals are more forward thinking. But, if you want to make a resolution for life, I recommend the follow-ing “Things Happy People Do Differently,” which come from the FaceBook tribute page to Steven Covey, who, as most probably know, wrote “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.” I hope you will agree, that if not all of these can accomplished, striv-ing to do so will enrich your life, and that’s an accomplishment. I was fortu-nate to have come across Covey’s book in the 1990’s. If you want to gain some perspective on what you’re doing, what you think you should be doing, and what others think you are doing, pick up this book. If you have read it and now it’s on your bookshelf, consider a second reading. Since our perspectives change over the years, you will probably find new ones. Here’s a short summary of highlights of “Things Happy People

Do Differently.”Happy people express

gratitude. If we aren’t thankful for what we already have, we will have a hard time ever being happy. Happy people cultivate optimism. We all know negative people and the energy they drain from those around them. They are not happy. Happy people practice acts of kindness. Selflessly helping someone is a powerful way to feel good

inside. They also nurture social rela-tionships and the core to happiness is deep, meaningful relationships. Happy people learn to forgive because harbor-ing feelings of hatred is not good for our well-being. Lastly, at least in my sum-mary, happy people commit to goals.

So fellow Chamber members, be hap-py in 2013, and beyond. Our Chamber is working hard to make you happy by providing networking opportunities to find and nurture relationships. We are optimistic about the Hilliard business environment. And we will be happy to see you at our events in 2013!

MEMBER ANNIVERSARIESThe Chamber would like to recognize our members who have continually supported the purpose of the chamber and its activities. The following members have invested in the

chamber for ten or more years as of January, 2013:

Sunset Cemetery has been a member of the Franklin County business community since 1922, and today we are a proud member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Founded by Otis (O.D.) Leach, Sunset Cem-etery sits on 132 total acres of rolling hills, only 58 acres of which have been devel-oped. The cemetery’s heart shaped pond was hand dug by Leach’s brother. The pond area offers a quiet and relax-ing place to reflect on the loss of a loved one and feed the ducks and geese that visit the cemetery each year. Sunset Cemetery has served the heritage of third and fourth generations of families with more than 31,000 interments.

Sunset Cemetery is a business partner with the Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce, the Hilltop Business Association and the Grove City Chamber of Commerce. Sunset Cemetery offers traditional ground burial, mausoleum entombment, and niche interment with both upright and bronze memorialization. Affordable payment plans and financing are available for pre-need arrangements.

We believe creating meaningful ways to pay tribute to a loved one begins with com-passion, and is shaped by the understanding that each life is truly unique. For us, there is no greater responsibility than honoring and preserving the story of one’s life.

When you choose a Dignity Memorial®

provider, you not only receive the compas-

sionate care you expect from a locally-oper-ated establishment, but also the value you deserve from the largest network of funeral homes and cemeteries—including an array of services that is unmatched by any other funeral provider in North America.

As a member of the Dignity Memorial® network, we offer Away From Home Protec-tion, 24-Hour Compassion Helpline, National Transferability, Bereavement Travel, Personal Planning Services, Grief Support, Veterans Benefits, Free Personal Planning Guide and Child & Grandchild Protection.

Sunset is proud to be a part of The Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce. Serving your families loved ones since 1922.
