On the occasion of the Hindi Divas Samaroha-2016, Central University of Orissa

organized a special lecture on ‘Rashtra Bhasha Hindi Ki Chunautiyan aur Sambhavanae’

at its

Sunabeda

campus.

programme

and

delivered

the

inaugural

address.

Prof.

Noorjahan

Begum,

Retd. Professor and Head, Department of Hindi, University of Hyderabad delivered the

special lecture.

Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor in his inaugural address stated the

importance of Hindi as national language to the students. He said “You must have a clear

idea of language for proper communication. We shouldn’t be depended only on English

language; we have to be multilingual to succeed”. He also said “Hindi Department is a

very important department along with other department. All the students despite of

diversity they must learn all language”. He motivated student to be multilingual.

Language is the medium of communication. From ancient period in India people use the

particular language propound by the Emperor in his region out lined by Prof. Noorjahan

Begum and shared her vast experience in the field of linguistic and expresses the need

of hard work for the development of the national language. She said “Although Hindi is

our national language but yet it is not completely our national at the ground level. Hindi

as a language faces different challenges due to globalization and impact of foreign

languages can easily be seen in our spoken and written language”. She also said “Due to

language shift from vernacular medium to English medium many students’ quality in

education decline. Government needs to open high quality vernacular medium school for

the development of the language.”

To celebrate the Hindi Divas the Hindi Department of the University organized Hindi

essay competition among the students of the university on ’21wi Satabdhi Mein Hindi Ki

Sthiti’ (२१वी शताब्दी म ेँ हिन्दी की हथिहत)and also a Hindi Poem competition has been

organized and it was coordinated by Dr. Satabdhi Behera, Faculty of Hindi Department.

Certificates along with Prizes have been distributed to the winner of the competition on

this programme.

Dr. Mayuri Mishra, HoD I/c. Department of Hindi, gave vote of thanks. Sushree. Sukanya

Padhi, student form the Department of Bio-Diversity and Conservation of Natural

Resources and Shri. Pawan Kumar Gupta, student from the Department of Statistics

compeered the programme. Students, Faculty members and staff were present in at

large on this occasion.
