HISTOLOGY What is histology? How are histologic sections made? MICROSCOPIC EXAMINATION Histology is the study of the microscopic anatomy of cells and tissues. STEP 1: Each body organ and tissue type has a characteristic microscopic appearance. Review the photos shown here and then the glass slides. Try to identify what tissue type is shown on each slide. Tissue sections on glass slides are stained and then examined via microscope. H&E (Hematoxylin & Eosin) is the most commonly used stain in medical diagnosis. Histology is the study of the microscopic anatomy of cells and tissues.

STEP 1:
