Hello, my name is
Mr Guise and I am
the Headteacher
and Director of The
Calder Learning
Trust
All About me
My role at Calder was (still is!)
my first headship and I’ve been
here since September 2013.
Prior to this post I was a
Curriculum, Teaching &
Learning Deputy in Leeds.
It often comes as a surprise
that I’m a science teacher with
a background in Environmental
Biology and Marine Ecology.
I live in sunny Skipton with my
wife and 2 of my 4 children but
you’ll notice that my accent is
not from there!
If I’m not at the football, (or
watching football) you may find
me out running on the fells of
the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite Hobbies:
I am a massive football fan and
have supported Liverpool FC all my
life. I think it’s important to support
your local team so I’m a Burnley FC
season ticket holder too!
Favourite bands / music:
My musical tastes range from The
Beatles to Bastille, Aswad to The
Weekend and lots in between!
Favourite film:
Of all time has to be Gladiator but I
love an old black & white detective
movie whether that’s Sherlock
Holmes or a Bogart classic!
Favourite foods:
I literally eat everything but you
can’t beat a curry!
Hello, my name is
Mr Taylor and I am
the Head of the
Secondary phase of
The Calder Learning
Trust
All About me I have been at Calder now for 9
years as Deputy Head and now
I’m the Head of the Secondary
phase of the Trust.
My background is in improving
behaviour in schools so I expect
a high standard of behaviour
from our students.
I live in Lancashire, but love
the beautiful surroundings of
the Calder Valley. I also spend a
lot of time on the Island of
Anglesey.
I am originally a Geography
teacher but my main passion is
the pastoral support that we
put in place for our students.
I also have two Golden
Retrievers; Ollie and Gracie
(sporting house ties here) who
keep me busy
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite Hobbies:
I am a keen amateur chef but I am
no good at baking… it’s a science!
I am also a bit of a film buff and am
also a keen traveller!
Favourite bands / music:
I enjoy 80/90s music including R&B,
Dance, House etc…
Favourite film:
Too many to mention but I enjoy
Bond films, Star Wars and anything
Superhero!
Favourite foods:
Thai/Chinese food and I also like an
antipasti platter on a summer’s day.

Mr Gray and I am
Deputy Headteacher
of The Calder
Learning Trust
All About me
I’m excited to take on a new
role as Deputy Head at Calder
this year having previously held
a similar role at another 4-16
Academy in Halifax.
I’ve been teaching for 23 years,
at schools in Bristol,
Nottingham, Rochdale and
Halifax.
I grew up in Devon but now live
in Todmorden with my wife and
four children. As a Geography
teacher, I love getting out into
the beautiful hills of the Calder
Valley with my dog, Albus
Dumbledog.
I have a keen interest in the
science of learning and how we
can develop a curriculum that
supports students throughout
their academic career.
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite Hobbies:
I enjoy reading and love getting lost in
a good novel on holiday. I’m a keen
sports player and watcher. I run for a
local club, having become too old too
play football. As my wife will tell you,
I’m happy to watch any sport on TV.
Kabaddi anyone?
Favourite bands / music:
An eclectic mix of artists and genres
including 90s Indie, Sixties Soul and
Folk Music
Favourite film:
Spirited Away or the original Karate Kid
Favourite foods:
You can’t beat a Devon cream tea on a
sunny day. Jam first – then cream!

Mr Washington and
I am the Assistant
Headteacher in
charge of Key Stage
3 Progress and
personal
development among
many other things!
All About me
I come from Portsmouth but
have been living in Yorkshire
now for 18 years; this is my
fourth year at Calder.
As a keen Geographer, I love to
travel; my favourite country is
Iceland – I’ve been there with
school and family about 5 times
and even got caught up in the
2010 volcanic eruption!
I am married with 2 teenage
boys; Edward is a ski instructor
in Austria and Donnacha is
about to go into Year 12.
Living in a small village on the
edge of the Dales is a great
place to walk my cocker
spaniel, Seamus, at the
weekend.
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite sports:
I am a keen football fan and a
season ticket holder at Blackburn
Rovers! I also run (a bit) and play a
very poor level of village cricket.
Favourite bands / music:
I love going to live music and count
James, Vampire Weekend, the
Killers and the Courteeners are
some of my favourite bands. I’m
also keen on Irish folk music!

Withnail and I
Favourite foods:
Definitely something spicey,
especially Thai curries

Mr Lee and I am the
Assistant Headteacher

& Attendance - I also

All about me
I grew up in Manchester and
am a Man City fan…and
yes…supported them when
we were rubbish. First
game I went to was in 1976
with my dad and I still like
to go to the odd game now.
I live in Huddersfield and
have 2 daughters. Molly is
training to be a Primary
School teacher and Ruby is
still at school.
I have a border collie called
Marley and a cat called
Ernie
I started teaching at Calder
towards the end of 2017

Favourite sports:
I have enjoyed playing most sports over
the years and still compete in various
cycling races throughout the year.
Favourite bands / music:
I like lots of different music but favourite
bands would be New Order, Echo and the
Bunnymen, Doves and of course
‘The King of Rock n Roll’…

Mrs Lambert and I
am the Head of
Calder Primary in
The Calder Learning
Trust
All About me
I am originally from
Nottingham, but went to
University in York and have
stayed in Yorkshire ever since.
I was the Headteacher of Cragg
Vale School before we moved
as a school to join the Calder
Learning Trust in 2017. After
almost 2 years in the
Caretaker’s house and a
portacabin, we moved into our
new building in June 2019!
I am passionate about giving
our pupils lots of different
opportunities including drama,
music, sport and more!
I have a little boy, Stanley, who
is 15 months old and keeps me
busy! He loves exploring,
swimming and football at the
park.
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite Hobbies:
I enjoy spending time outdoors and
walking with my family, especially
at the coast. I enjoy playing the
piano and can also play clarinet and
saxophone.
Favourite bands / music:
I like pretty much any kind of music
and it’s always on somewhere in my
house, but 90’s and Indie are
probably my favourites.

Love Actually!

Summer BBQs and Mexican Food.

Miss Gregory and I am
the Associate Assistant

SENCo in charge of
supporting children
with additional needs.
These could be linking
to a learning need,
medical need or
supporting looked
after children.
All about me
I have been a teacher at
Calder for around 22 years and
have been lucky enough to
have had a variety of roles
within school.
With a background in
Psychology, I have an interest
in how children learn and how
factors may influence
behaviour and learning.
I live in Lancashire and have
2 children; Ben is currently
studying at university and
Grace is in Key Stage 4. We
enjoy going of holidays,
walking and playing Uno and
Dobble, both of which can
become very competitive,
especially when one of us tries
to cheat!!
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite sports: I love walking and I am hoping to soon
have a dog who can accompany me on my
walks in the countryside. I have recently
also bought a bike, though at the moment I
am not very good when it comes to riding
up big hills or on rocky off road trails!
Favourite bands / music: I enjoy listening to many different types of
music, from modern country such as Ward
Thomas and The Shires, to Jazz by Cara
Emerald and classical music by Andrea
Bocelli
Favourite film: My all time favourite film has to be
Mamma Mia
Favourite foods: I love Italian and Greek food.

Healey and I am the

All About me
I am a true cockney having
been born ‘within the sound of
Bow Bells’. However I moved to
Lancashire when I was 2. After
6 years in Leicester at
University I got a passport for
Yorkshire and I have lived here
ever since.
I am married with 2 children.
My wife, Jan, teaches at Calder
and we have both been at
Calder quite a long time, 25
years for me. My son Joe, who
came to Calder, is studying
Chemistry at Durham University
and my daughter Tibby is in
Year 8
I spend as much time as I can in
Spain, which has an amazing
culture and a perfect climate
for ‘living outdoors’ and doing
the outdoor activities I enjoy.
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite sports:
I watch a lot of football having served a
long apprenticeship as a Man City fan
(about 50 years). I like being outdoors so
love cycling and canyoning but my main
passion is climbing.
Favourite bands / music:
I love listening to all sorts of music and
have been into reggae and dub for a long
time. Spent way too much on CDs and
vinyl. Recently got more into jazz and
listen to a lot of dub techno!
Favourite film:
Shawkshank Redemption
Favourite foods:
I am told I cook a brilliant paella which is
also my favourite food. I love Lyons
midget gems and chewing nuts!

Mr Bracewell
and I am an
Associate Assistant
Headteacher in
charge of the
timetable and
data.
I also teach maths.
All About me
I come from Hampshire
originally but have lived abroad
both as a child
(France and Germany)
and as an adult
(France again, Australia, and
India)
As a maths teacher, I love
developing a student’s
mathematical ability,
particularly with those students
that wouldn’t describe maths
as their favourite subject.
I have lived in Hebden Bridge
for 4 years now and am thrilled
to finally live somewhere with
both amazing scenery and a
school I love!
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite sports:
I enjoy riding bikes (and not falling
off them), fell-running (occasionally
competing) and outdoor swimming
(don’t mind which month)

Electronic stuff like Leftfield,
Bicep, Gorillaz, Bonobo, Diplo and
anything involving Jamie XX

Mr Kenworthy and I
am the Associate
Assistant

All About me
I moved to Halifax 15 years ago
from Greater Manchester and
this is now ‘home’. I have a 13
year old daughter, Lyla, who is
a proud ‘Yorkshire girl’.
During the day I am a PE
teacher and Associate Assistant
Headteacher. In my spare time,
you will find me in
Luddendenfoot coaching a local
amateur football team- Calder
76, who I have managed for
over 10 years.
I also have a season ticket at
Old Trafford to watch my
beloved Manchester United.
Hobbies/Interests
Favourite sports:
As a PE teacher, I love all sports-
but particularly Football and Rugby.
Favourite bands / music:
Stone Roses, Gerry Cinnamon and
most things indie. But I also enjoy
Dance music. With a 13 year old
daughter I may have been spotted
at Taylor Swift and Little Mix
concerts too!!
Favourite film:
Anything with Will Ferrell in! Step
Brothers, Blades of Glory.
Favourite foods:
Steak and chips!!
