1. Welcome/Call to Order- Mrs. Mosley welcomed everyone and thanked them for
coming to the meeting. Mrs. Cannella called the meeting to order at 1:50 p.m.
2. Review & Approval of April 10th SAC Meeting Minutes- Mrs. Cannella, SAC Chair
asked members to review the last meeting minutes. Mrs. Cannella asked if there
were any changes or additions to the minutes. Motion to approve minutes was made
and 1st and 2nd by Dawn Jackson and Romi White.
3. School Improvement Plan Revisions. Review of Mid-Year Meeting- Mrs. Mosley
spoke to the committee regarding the School Improvement Plan Revisions and
review of the Mid-Year Meeting. The model for ESE students this year was very
successful. ESE students were in the classroom this year and ESE teachers pushed
into the classroom. Mrs. Mosley also thanked Mrs. Howard, Asst. Principal and Ms.
White, Guidance Counselor on a job well done regarding student attendance.
4. SAC & Title I Budget Report- Estimate for 2018-19- The balance in SAC Budget is
$156.32. Mrs. Mosley asked if there were any requests to spend the remaining SAC
money. No requests were submitted. Mrs. Mosley also gave the update for the Title
I Budget. Title I money is generated by the percentage of students who are on
free or reduced lunch. The percent of HNIS students on free or reduced lunch on
March 30th was reduced from 49% to 45%. The budget will decrease about
$9,000.00. Mrs. Mosley also thanked the other area schools, Holley Navarre PTO
and Culvers for helping with fundraisers to send our Odyssey of the Mind team to
the World Championship. A big thank you to our school district for helping support
HNIS.
5. Review & Approval of Proposed 2018-19 School-Based Budget- Mrs. Mosley and
Karen Williams, Internal Funds Bookkeeper went over the proposed 2018-19 HNIS
School Based Budget with the committee. Projected allocation amount for HNIS is
$60,909.00 with a projected enrollment of 940 students. HNIS will have 18 classes
of 3rd, 15 classes of 4th and 14 classes of 5th grade and 4 ESE classes. School based
budget covers copiers, supplies for teachers and faculty, office supplies, in
county/out of county travel, furniture, postage expenses, furniture, computer
equipment, etc. Teachers will be given $200.00 this year instead of $150.00. A
motion was made by Mrs. Cannella to approve the Proposed School-Based Budget
for 2018-19. Motion was 1st and 2nd by Romi White and Tondi ter Haar. All in favor.
Motion carried.
6. New Progress Monitoring Tools for 2018-19. STAR Math, STAR Reading, Unify
Science- Mrs. Mosley- Unify did not meet expectations this year. STAR Math,
STAR Reading and Unify Science will be used next year. STAR Alternate
Assessment will be given to students who make a Level 1 on FSA Reading in 3rd
grade or they can attend summer reading camp and then test. End of Year
Assessment will be used for teacher evaluations instead of FSA.
7. FSA-Paper Based for 2018-19! Testing window will be later- Mrs. Mosley- FSA will
be paper based next year for grades 3rd through 6th. Writing tests for 4th and 5th
grade will be given in April. FSA Math, Reading and Science will be given in May.
8. Title I Parent Involvement Plan & Compact Agreement Input for 2018-19- Mrs.
Mosley- The committee was asked to look over the HNIS Activities Calendar for
2017-18 and the Compact Agreement and submit suggestions, changes or additions
to both documents for 2018-19. Parents may turn in suggestions at the end of the
meeting today or send to Mrs. Mosley
9. PTO Status for 2018-19- Mrs. Mosley- Nomination forms were sent home with the
students on April 27th. Nomination forms were due back by Friday, May 4th. Ballots
for PTO were to be sent out on May 7th. At the present time there were no parent
nominations received. Decisions will be made over the summer regarding PTO or
parent involvement. Mrs. Mosley was a little disappointed. No ballot will be sent out.
10. SAC Members for 2018-19- Mrs. Mosley- A big thank you to the SAC Committee
for serving this year. Some of our members are serving 2 years and some will be
leaving us this year. If you would like to serve again, please notify Mrs. Mosley, Mrs.
Howard or Mrs. Wells. SAC Nomination forms will go home with the students the
first week of school and voting will take place the second week.
11. Other Business- Dawn Jackson volunteered to help with social media next year.
Members suggested advertising for proctors for testing next year.
