Summerfest for 2017 is over but

thanks to everyone who worked

and/or attended.

We had a great year.

We must have special angels

watching over us because, with the

look of the radar, we should have

been rained out on Friday night.

We opened and stayed open until

normal closing time.

Saturday was a

record attendance day.

Thank you to everyone who

participated in anyway at all.

Thank you to all who made a donation and/

or pledge to this year’s Annual Catholic

Appeal – whether that was through the

Circle of Honor, the mailing, or the in-pew

solicitation. I am very grateful for your

generosity and I know that Bishop Malooly

is as well.

The goal set this year for our parish by the

diocese was $99,000. The pledged amount is

$109,465. - $63,707.12 of that has been

collected by the diocese.

That means we have exceeded our goal by $10,465, all of which we will receive

back from the diocese in January 2018…as

long as we all fulfill our pledges.

Thank you again for your generosity and I

encourage all to complete their pledge.

God Bless,

Fr Mark

SILENT PRAYER:

Our parish has a group of people

who will earnestly pray for any

needs you have. This is done

anonymously via a telephone prayer

chain. If you have a special need for which you are in need

of prayer call: 737-1333 731-4297 or 894-0726 before 7:30

p.m. and we will pray for you.

On August 19, 2017 at 11:00

AM at Church of the Holy

Child, Bishop Malooly will or-

dain eight deacons for service

throughout the Diocese of Wil-

mington. Three of those eight

men come from Holy Family:

David Feaster, Darrell Lashomb, and Joseph

Roach.

These men, along with their wives Julie, Beth, and

Barbara, have been engaged in a formation process

for the past five years that has prepared them for or-

dination.

Deacons, as ordained clergy in the Church, are called

to three general areas of service: the ministry of the

Word, the ministry of liturgy, and the ministry of

charity. They receive their diaconal assignments from

the Bishop, to whom they make a promise of obedi-

ence at ordination. Deacons continue to support them-

selves in their secular occupations after ordination

and generally serve without remuneration.

We congratulate David, Darrell, and Joe, and offer

them our prayers for years of fruitful and fulfilling

ministry in the Diocese of Wilmington.

Our three new deacons will be available to

receive your good wishes and congratulations in

the parish hall immediately after all the Masses

on the weekend of August 26/27. Please stop in

and share in their joy.

We welcome newly baptized into our Catholic

Faith:

Cameron Rigby Stuhl Daughter of Jonathan and Theresa Stuhl

May she continue to grow in her faith

We are in dire need of people to

sell SCRIP for a few minutes

before and after Masses.

SCRIP is a great fund raiser for

Holy Family BUT we need people to sell the SCRIP

for us. You are not scheduled every week and you

let us know times you are not available and the Mass

of your choice.

Please call the office if you feel you could help us at

302-368-4665.

Looking to be more

involved at Mass?

If you’re looking for a way to more fully

connect with the liturgy, consider becoming

a Sacristan. Sacristans are ministers who make sure the

church is ready to celebrate Mass.

The duties include:

Set up for Mass, including, but not limited to: setting out

the vessels for Eucharist, the hosts and wine for offertory,

and the books.

Check before Mass to make sure we have a full comple-

ment of ministers.

Be available to re-fill vessels from the Tabernacle during

Communion to make sure ministers do not run out of Eu-

charist..

Purify the vessels after Mass, then wash them with the

help of Eucharistic ministers.

Training will be offered to get you started. If you have any

questions or are ready to join this ministry, please call the

church office at 302-368-4665.

DO YOU NEED

SERVICE HOURS?

ALTAR SERVERS

NEEDED!

Many schools are now

requiring service hours. If you are a student in

need of service hours, consider becoming an

altar server.

Altar servers are scheduled according to Mass

preference and can block out dates for vacation

time. You can easily earn 20-30 service

hours per year by serving at Mass 2-3

times per month. If you are interested in more information about

becoming an altar server, please call the parish

office at 302-368-4665.

remember those in our community that need our

men that work at Holy Family Outreach are

all men 18 years of age or older who are practical

(that is, practicing) Catholics in union with the Holy

When speaking to your kids (or anyone) consider

these proverbs: "It is better to leave angry words

unspoken than to mend the heart those words have

broken." and "The tongue is the only instrument

that gets sharper with use."
