Does anyone have a used push or self-propelled lawn mower they are willing to donate?
The deck of the mower now in use is telling us it is time to look for a replacement.
Would You Loan a Carpet Cleaner or Even Organize a Clean-up Day?
The carpet as you enter the church is getting rough and a good “spring”
cleaning wouldn’t hurt. Will you pick a date and coordinate our efforts!
Additional Thoughts from Saint Teresa of Calcutta: I don’t want that you give from your abundance. I want you to understand through direct contact. The poor need deeds, not words. It is not my task to evaluate existing systems, economic, social, or political structures and ideologies. Everyone has a conscience and must follow it.
Wednesday 6/28 The Memorial of Saint Irenaeus
Much about Irenaeus’ history is questioned including even his martyrdom. However,
his books, Adversus haereses to the "Detection and Overthrow of the False
Knowledge"(Refutation of Gnosticism) exists in ancient Latin without doubt. It contains
an exposition of Gnosticism in its different forms and heresies in Christian communities. It
is significant source of information on ecclesiastical literature during the second century.
Thursday 6/29 Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles (paraphrased Reflection from Franciscan Media)
We could easily go to Reconciliation with Peter. He is perhaps a more striking example
of the simple fact of holiness. Jesus says to us as he said, in effect, to Peter: “It is not
you who have chosen me, but I who have chosen you. Peter, it is not human wisdom
that makes it possible for you to believe, but my Father’s revelation. I, not you, build
my Church.” Paul’s experienced the risen Jesus on the way to Damascus and was
driven to be one of the most zealous, dynamic, and courageous ambassadors of Christ
ever. But persecution, humiliation, and weakness became his day-by-day cross, fodder
for further transformation. The dying Christ was in him; the living Christ was his life.
