Getting Pre-Approved Pre-approval is a written commitment from a lender, subject to a property appraisal and other conditions. It lets you and the

If you qualify, the lender will provide you with a written commitment for a certain mortgage amount, down payment, and interest rate - subject to the terms of the prequalification letter.
