The size of the screen is not the only factor in the perceived picture size; distance from the screen is equally important.

There is a trade off of picture quality versus size.

the scanning lines on the tube or the pixels on the projectors will be apparent.

Seating far enough back will blend these details to the human eye.

Movie theaters are designed so that viewing angles are reduced to provide more realistic images. Prime seating is designed to view the movie at a 30 degree angle (peripheral view of the human being).

When adopting this design to the home theater; visual scanning lines and pixels are detected.

Seating distance to overcome visual image structure is typically 4X the height of the video screen.
