National Coalition For The Homeless This poster has a range of techniques. The bricks as the background show that’s what the man’s living on the outside of rather than a normal smooth wall on the inside. The background also has rips and tears in it, signifying that that’s what life being homeless is like, not complete. The font in this poster is large and bold. The black colour makes it look dull and it fits the poster well. It is all in capitals so it is clearer to read and stands out more. The word ‘DIE’ is very big compared to the other words; it captures attention and makes people want to read it when they read the word die, because it could relate to anyone. The picture of the man is effective because he is laid on a bench and the bricks in the background imply that sleeping on a bench feels like it you may as well be sleeping on bricks. The layout of the image shows the word ‘DIE’ directly under the picture of the man, suggesting if no one does anything about his homelessness then he will die. I think that is effective because it makes people think without even knowing that’s what made them think them. Simon On The Streets This poster has similar techniques, the picture is interesting as he is zipped to the pavement

National Coalition For The Homeless

This poster has a range of techniques.

Simon On The Streets

This poster has similar techniques, the picture is interesting as he is zipped to the pavement and the title says ‘stuck on the streets’, meaning that this is what has happened to this man. It shows that people think as soon as someone is homeless then they will never have a chance in getting a home or staying somewhere for a night, and this is how charities can help get people off the streets. The font is in capitals to make it easier for people to read and notice and its white against a dark background making it very noticeable. The man looks miserable and sad, showing all he needs is someone to help him and it’s easier than what people think, because of the charities.

Homes for the Homeless

This poster has a technique of information. It gives a fact within the title by saying two million children are homeless. It then goes on to say that you can change that. The red line under the word ‘children’ make people realise that its not just adults who are homeless, a lot of children don’t have a home either. The image of the girl not showing her face suggests she is ashamed that she has no home and other children do, yet the poster shows she is not a long as two million other children don’t have a home either.I think this poster is as effective as some other that I’ve seen, as the child has clothes and is sat on a rug and has walls around her, she isn’t on a street and she isn’t completely homeless. All of the colours used are dull and grey, showing that the poster is about a serious situation.

SASH

SASH is a charity in the UK that has volunteers that take people in for a few nights when they don’t have a home. The logo is a bright green house shape with SASH written in it, this could mean that people need to stay positive as green is a positive colour about people getting a home through SASH. The slogan alongside it says ‘Preventing Youth Homelessness Together’ gets straight to the point and says what it does. The website has a good house style that is the same colours as the logo and runs throughout the website. The website has articles on what the charity has managed to achieve and what they are yet to achieve. It clearly stated what street in York the charity is based on and people know where to go at first glance on the website.Feantsa

This posters message is that everyone has potential but not everyone can see it. People tend to be scared of a homeless youth but not of a chair, as it can’t move. The technique used on the chair is used well because the chair is a nice pink colour and stands out from the dull and grey background. Just because the chair is a nice colour and isn’t scruffy means no one is afraid of the chair but when a person is a bit scruffy and lives outside too, people won’t go near them. The font in this picture represents the chair and the homeless person. The part about the chair is white and thick and stands out where as the bit about the homeless person is less noticeable and more faded, because people see them as not important.

Feantsa

This poster is a more upbeat and positive poster about homelessness. Rather than showing someone who is homeless and saying they deserve a chance, it clearly states that ending homelessness is possible and is positive about the situation. The pink and green colours make the poster more bright and colourful, making it more of an eye-catching poster about a serious situation all around the world. The picture is simple, just a few houses showing that that’s all it takes to make a difference.
