Magna is a joint venture project by Hill and

Homerton College. Our aspiration is to

create a thoughtfully designed community

Homerton was first founded in the eighteenth century, with its original site being Homerton High Street in London. In 1894, it moved to Cambridge and attained full status as a college of the University of Cambridge in 2010. It’s notable as being one of the most attractive constituent colleges, set in spacious grounds to the south of the city centre. And, with over one thousand students, it’s also one of the largest and most diverse.

Excellent transport links make access

to amenities from Magna quick and

easy, helping to establish a flourishing,

sustainable community.

Magna’s excellent location, less than a mile

from the train station, positions you in close

proximity to the city centre and all the

amenities on offer. Cambridge also boasts

a comprehensive cycle network and an

excellent public transport system. Several

bus routes run near Magna; from the stops

origins go back to the late seventeenth century.

Having moved to its new home Cambridge in 1894,

Homerton is one of the most attractive colleges in

Cambridge, with a mixture of old and new buildings,

with a fine Victorian building at it’s heart. All set in

spacious grounds on the outskirts of the historic city

centre. It is also one of the largest colleges in terms

of student numbers, with a thriving and diverse

community. The College has always had strong

ties to public service as well as academia and over

the years has educated alumni of considerable

influence, including prominent dissenting thinkers,

educationalists, politicians and missionary explorers.

In 2007 the College made a formal submission to the

University of Cambridge for full collegiate status. This

was granted and Homerton was awarded a Royal

Charter as a self-governing College of the University

of Cambridge in 2010. The College now offers

everything from Anglo-Saxon to Zoology, including –

from 2016 – Medicine.
