*The husk is the green leaf like stuff covering the corn.
Remove SILKRemove as much *SILK as you can.
*The SILK is the stringy hair like stuff between the husk and the corn.

Toast Grain
Toasting grains has many benefits!
• It tastes really good!
• The toasty roasted, nutty flavor kicks any grain dish up a notch.
• It makes them easier to digest and restores great flavor to grain
that is a little old tasting.
I toast up a lot at a time because it takes the same amount of time
to toast 1 cup as it does 10 cups and it stores for a long time.

Toast Grains
Keep StirringAs the grain gets darker and hotter you need to stir more frequently so
it won't burn. If your stove is too hot it will burn the grain, instead of toasting it. So, keep it low and be patient. I actually like to get mine darker than this picture shows.
Start ToastingPut your dry grain in the skillet and turn the stove on high until the pan
gets hot then turn it down to medium/low. Stir regularly until it starts to make popping noises and then stir constantly until done.
21
To get started you will need:• Heavy bottomed skillet like a cast iron pan• Grain of choice• Wooden spoon (metal ones make a lot of noise)
The trick is patience! It takes 20-30 minutes to get a really good toasted grain with awesome flavor. Store it in an air-tight container once it has cooled completely. After toasting your grain you cook it as usual. I cook mine in a rice cooker with 4 cups of water and 2 cups of rice.

Make the CaramelInsert sticks into stem end of apples.Mix sugar, honey and water in sauce pan. Bring to a boil over med-high heat and stir ’til sugar dissolves. Do not stir after this point! Swirl pan intermittently till temperature reaches 320 degrees (about 8-10 minutes). Remove from heat and slowly whisk cream into a hot pan. Add butter and vanilla, stir and let it cool until cool enough to coat a spoon. It only takes 30 seconds to a minute to cool. Dip apples into caramel and let excess drip off into pan.

You are What You Eat
“A few years back, I used to smoke. When I
decided to quit I needed something to fill the
void. At the time I had a very good diet, very
clean. I ate no processed food, no MSG and no
dyes. I chose to use dum-dum suckers to give
my hands and mouth something to do. I bought
two huge bags of suckers and I mean huge I got
them at a bulk store. Anytime I needed a
nicotine fix I would eat a sucker. After three
weeks I had gained 30 pounds. After this
realization, I immediately stopped the dum-dums.
After 2 weeks I lost 15 pounds but to this day I
don’t think I have lost all the sucker weight. It
was a “dum” move.” A.J.
Excitotoxins
Excitotoxin Facts:
1. Excitotoxins are added to food to make it addictive2. Your body wraps them in fat to protect you3. Many dyes are excitotoxins (red#5 for sure)4. It isn’t usually the sugar that makes kids hyper/cranky but the excitotoxins5. MSG is an excitotoxin6. Excitotoxins are the FDA-aproved way to ruin your brain (they kill brain cells)
To learn about excitotoxins and get a complete list of ingredients they hide under click here.
“Since learning about excitotoxins from Dr. James I have eliminated them from our diet as much as I can and my son is a completely different kid. He had been classified ADD and was unbearable most of the time. He would have fits of rage that would appear to come from nowhere and seem to be out of control even to himself. Now he is happy and fun to be around and he understands that excitotoxins turn him into the HULK so he chooses to avoid them. Thank you Dr. James” M.A.

Excitotoxins
Candy (trick or treat)These are the candies you can buy in huge bags this time of year. Most of the name brands are loaded with excitotoxins which are detrimental to your health and especially to the health and sanity of your children. Most Chocolates have nasty dyes and natural flavors (did you know Rat poop is a natural flavor?). Most hard or fruit flavored candy is loaded with colors that trigger aggression and are highly addictive.
Best Candy (treats)
The best option is to make your own because then you are in control of the ingredients. Here is a link for some great treats and candy recipes. Click here
Did You Know?In most recipes you can trade• honey for corn syrup• unbleached sugar for normal
sugar• natural dies for bottled dies
Better Candy (treats)
There are better candy options on the market. Here are a few better options that we have found. They don't have excitotoxins in them so they don't destroy brain cells. Even with reading labels and choosing wisely on candy sometimes you have to choose between the lesser of two evils. I always opt out of dyes first and go from the re. But remember candy is still candy so eat in moderation.
Here are some tips from our readers
“I let my kids have their night of Trick or Treating but they only get to keep a little of the candy and I donate the rest to a local scout troop. Then we eat lots of fruits and veggies the next day to clean out their systems.” S.M.
“We go to our church’s Trunk or Treat every year and I have my kids give me most of their spoils so I can hand it out and then they go around again for more. This way they only get a few of their favorites. Then we take Dr. James’ Detoxalation for a few days to clean up the toxic mess. Works like a charm!” A.S.
“Excitotoxins are addictive and take anywhere from 3 days to a week for my kids to get through the withdrawals. I found that it helps if I have excitotoxin free sweets around for them to eat during the withdrawal period. It lessens the trauma/drama.” L.A.

Detox
Excitotoxins
No matter how hard we try to eat healthy and avoid all of the harmful
things in our food, air, water and so on, our bodies still need a little help in
getting rid of toxins. Here is one way to help flush them out.
DETOXALATION (Herbal Formula) helps to rid the body of chemicals and pollutants and can facilitate a return to health. It uses the body’s natural process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the liver, kidneys, urine, feces,
lungs, and skin. We carry within our bodies a plethora of chemicals and toxins resulting from the foods we eat to the chemicals we breathe. Caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, pesticides, additives and flavor enhancers (just to name a few) are all contributors to ill health. Even tap water is suspect! click here to read more
Get Excitotoxins out of your system
fast!
"I took my 5 year old son to see Dr. James and had dry blood analysis done on him. We found that he had heavy metals really bad so Dr. James put him on Detoxalation. Previous to the visit my son had warts all over his arms and legs but after 3 weeks on this stuff his warts disappeared. When we went in for his check up the heavy metals were gone too. Thanks Dr. James” L.M.
“We try to eat good but when the holidays come around it gets harder especially for the kids. We have found that when we have had to many dyes and additives we take a few of Dr. James' Detoxalation and it clears them out of our systems.” J.A.

Mom’s Toast“When I was a kid my mom would make toast in the toaster and she would burn it to a crisp every time. When she took it out of the toaster she would scrape off the black and feed it to us. If anyone murmured she would declare “it’s hand scraped toast” like it was a treat or something. I thought that was how everybody made toast. I was 12 years old before I knew that you could actually cook toast the right color every time” -M.J.
