INTERCHANGEABILITY OF UNITSPrior to the introduction of the five-figure numbering system all units bore an individual six-figurenumber, which gave no indication of possible interchangeability.The five-figure system, with its use of suffix letters, clearly shows that all units bearing the same basicnumber are interchangeable as a complete unit; e.g. Distributor 40283A, 40283B, 40283D, etc., whilsthaving internal modifications, are interchangeable as complete units.

CONDITIONS OF SALEAny LUCAS article, whether bought direct from us or from a dealer, is supplied upon condition thatit shall not be resold TO THE TRADE below the LOWEST FIXED WHOLESALE SELLINGPRICE, or to any person other than a bona-fide dealer below the LOWEST FIXED RETAIL SELLINGPRICE of it appearing in our printed List of Lowest Fixed Prices for the season current at the time ofthe resale; that any such resale shall be subject to these Conditions; and that if any such resale bemade below the proper Lowest Fixed Selling Price-the dealer so reselling it will be liable to pay usthe sum of FIVE POUNDS as liquidated damages.

Thus, telegram "LICIA 22259, Lucaserv, Cardiff, Telex" would signify that we were required to sendby passenger train, to be called for at the station, one Generator C39P-2, Service No. 22259, for ourCardiff Depot.USE OF PATTERNSWhen parts are sent to us as patterns they should be carefully labelled, indicating the name andaddress of the sender, together with reference or order number, which will enable us to deal with thematter properly. In all cases an indication should be given of the unit from which the part has beenremoved.UNITS FOR REPAIRAll articles for repair must be sent "CARRIAGE PAID" or will not be accepted. A label bearingname and address of sender must be attached to each article.

B90 FACTORY EXCHANGE SERVICEUnder the LUCAS B90 Factory Exchange Service Scheme, certain units may be exchanged for afactory repaired unit incorporating the latest design and material at a reasonable fixed price. Full detailsand prices may be found in catalogue No. X120.

GUARANTEEAll usual and reasonable precautions have been taken by us to ensure excellence of materials andworkmanship, and in the event of any defect in any Lucas product which is not caused by fair wear andtear, misuse, accident or negligence, being disclosed within twelve months of its being put into use,we will either supply new parts or components in exchange for those defective, or repair such defectiveparts or components free of charge.We do not undertake to dismantle or reassemble, or bear the cost of dismantling or reassembling anysuch part or component on the vehicle or chassis. This undertaking shall be deemed to exclude anyand every other obligation whatsoever, and all liability for any loss or damage howsoever andwhensoever caused or arising, except the cost of replacement or repair in accordance with thisundertaking.
