What are stereotypes you hate associated with teenagers?

Imagine some of the problems you will face if you’re judged by those stereotypes.

Imagine some of the problems you would face if you were judged by stereotypes about your ethnicity, religion, gender, age, social position, etc.

What’s the big deal about a “cowboy” costume?

Nothing.

But, what if just because you were from Texas people were always confused because: “Where’s your cowboy hat and boots? You don’t ride horses and yell yeeeehaw?”

I’d hate that. Wouldn’t you?

It doesn’t necessarily make you a terrible person to wear one of these costumes. It’s not about being politically correct, or people getting offended over a costume. But we have to consider . . .

The University of Ohio cautions students about creating a costume out of someone’s culture.

Even if it’s your own culture you’re making fun of . . . do you want to perpetuate ignorance about yourself?

AND WHAT ABOUT THOSE SEXY COSTUMES?

This is a joke version of the meme, but it does raise an important question:

The sexy nurse? The sexy lawyer? The sexy zombie? The sexy ninja turtle? Sexy Pikachu?

I didn’t see one “sexy” man costume. Not even a sexy teacher outfit . . . Why do you think that is?

Why the difference in the way women are represented in costumes vs. the way men are represented in costumes?
