If you were banished to a desert
island, and you could only take
one thing with you, would it be a
book?
A recent survey in the Netherlands: 43% would take their TV set with them, 17%
the radio, and 17% a stack of magazines. But no one mentioned taking a book.
Which is strange, because a book has everything.

2. Judge a book by it’s cover
Contrary to popular saying, always judge a book by it’s cover.

3. Take your time
Take a break if it's getting too frustrating or
tedious. Especially if the storyline is too heavy,
you might want to read it in stages and digest
everything in one page at the time

6. Book VS Movie
In my opinion, it's best to read the book before you watch the
movie. However, if you've already watched the movie, you can
picture the characters and scenery as shown in the film. That's
always fun to do!

3.0 Reading as a Culture
As lone individuals, we cannot reverse
this trend towards non-reading, norrefashion Malaysian culture (to make it
more bookish in the manner of Japan or
Europe), nor remake our educational
system to remedy its shortcomings.
What Can We Do?
Of course, to begin with, adults might
actually pay attention to the way their
offspring spend time in front of the TV.
Reading should always start at home.
Youngster needs to be introduced to
the idea of reading is fun.
Always bring your book along with you
(use technology like e-books).

If we genuinely wish to raise a generation of readers
(the kind that will pour over books, even at night and under the blankets),
then grown-ups need to show the alternative.

If the books are too
expensive, borrow
from your friends.
If you cannot find
the suitable time to
read, do it while you
are on stand
(waiting).
If you are really
busy, make an effort
to read a couple of
pages a day.
Hopefully, the world
will discover the
beauty of words
again.
