Balance rating scalesWhat is a rating scale? It is the set of measurement of qualitative and quantitative standards of the product. Some Practical Ways to Create a Rating ScaleUse a Word/Number 1-to-5 Rating Scaleif you were asking if the customer service reps effort was acceptable you would ask with these five variables:Not at all acceptableSlightly acceptableModerately acceptableVery acceptableCompletely acceptableTo determine Agreement one would build a scale that left Neither as the middle variable.Completely disagreeDisagreeSomewhat disagreeNeither agree nor disagreeSomewhat agreeAgreeCompletely agree

Guidelines for using a 5-point scale

Semantic differential scaleIn a question using a semantic differential scale, the ends of the scale are labeled with contrasting statements. The scales can vary, typically using either five or seven points.

Use Closed-ended questions rather than Open-ended onesSurveys can consist of two basic types of questionsOpen ended- allow responder freedom in answering and choice to respond in deph responses.Closed ended- respondents select an answer from a list provided by the researcher. It is popular because greater uniformity of response and answers are easily quantified. Sometime blank option give responder to answer their own way.

Open-ended questionsThese are particularly helpful for collecting feedback from your participants about their attitudes or opinions. However, these questions may require extra time or can be challenging to answer, so participants may skip the questions or abandon the survey. Example:What are two ways we could have improved your experience with our FM 1024 today? We take your feedback very seriously and review comments detail

PRETESTINGMini test with a small sample to determine if study approach is correct and effective. Misunderstand question and confuse question will easily rephrase without wasting time and moneyBest way for pre test you have to conduct survey within focus group of potential respondent. Although this is expensive. Telephone is also helpful for pretesting, interviewer call 10 20 people and do run through. It is appropriate to discuss the project with respondents after questionnaire is completed.
