Welcome message from the Mayor of Hume Welcome to another magical Christmas in Hume and to our wonderful Carols by Candlelight.
Tonight promises to be a cracker of an event, packed full of festive celebrations and wonderful entertainment for you to enjoy with your family and friends.
Christmas is a favourite time of year for many, including me, and I’m really pleased that Hume City Council is once again able to bring this celebration event into our community, uniting performers from around the country to welcome in the festive season with us all here.
This special event would not have been possible without our sponsors and partners, so thank you to Stockland Highlands, Henley, Coles, Barry Plant, Mirabella, Mantra Tullamarine and Yarra Valley Water.
Thank you also to tonight’s wonderful host, Charli Robinson, for taking us through our most loved carols and Christmas songs.
Finally I would also like to thank, on behalf of Hume City Council, all our fantastic performers, stallholders, sponsors and of course, all of you here tonight joining us in song at this special event. Hume is a great place to live and to see all the community united in song and spirit is a joyous occasion. Thank you for your loyal support throughout the year.
I look forward to seeing you out and about during this festive season. Whether you’re a local or visiting for the first time, I’d like to wish you and your family a happy Christmas and all the very best for 2014.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
oh, the weather outside is frightful But the fire is so delightful
And since we’ve no place to go let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
it doesn’t show signs of stopping And I brought some corn for popping the lights are turned way down low let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
When we finally kiss goodnight How i’ll hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight All the way home I’ll be warm
The fire is slowly dying And, my dear, we’re still good-bye-ing
But as long as you love me so let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
rockin’ around the Christmas treeAt the Christmas party hop
mistletoe hung where you can see Every couple tries to stop
rockin’ around the Christmas tree let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we’ll have some pumpkin pieAnd we’ll do some caroling
you will get a sentimental feeling when you hearVoices singing, “let’s be jolly
Deck the halls with bows of holly”
rockin’ around the Christmas tree Have a happy holiday
Everyone dancin’ merrily in the new old-fashioned way
rockin’ around the Christmas tree let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we’ll have some pumpkin pie And we’ll do some caroling
you will get a sentimental feeling when you hearVoices singing, “let’s be jolly
Deck the halls with boughs of holly”

Everyone dancin’ merrilyin the new old-fashioned way

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Have yourself a merry little Christmas, let your heart be lightFrom now on our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas, make the Yule-tide gayFrom now on our troubles will be miles away
Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yoreFaithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
through the years we all will be together if the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest boughAnd have yourself a merry little Christmas now
Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yoreFaithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
through the years we all will be together if the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest boughAnd have yourself a merry little Christmas now

The First NoelThe first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay In fields where they lay a keeping their sheep
on a cold winter’s night that was so deep noel, noel, noel, noel
Born is the King of israel
they looked up and saw a star shining in the east beyond them far And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night noel, noel, noel, noel
Born is the King of israel
And by the light of that same star three wise men came from the country far
to seek for a King was their intent And to follow the star wherever it went
noel, noel, noel, noel Born is the King of israel

Page 22
Frosty the Snowman Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose And two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say He was made of snow but the children know
How he came to life one day
There must have been some magic in that old top hat they found
For when they placed it on his head He began to dance around
o, Frosty the snowman Was alive as he could be
And the children say he could laugh and play Just the same as you and me
Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say He was made of snow but he came to life one day
There must have been some magic in that old top hat they found
For when they placed it on his head He began to dance around
Frosty the snowman Knew the sun was hot that day
so he said, “let’s run And we’ll have some fun now before i melt away”
Frosty the snowman Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye saying “Don’t you cry
i’ll be back again some day”
