Hush, Hush

His [Patch] black eyes sliced into me, and the corners of his mouth tilted up. My heart fumbled

a beat and in that pause, a feeling of gloomy darkness seemed to slide like a shadow over me. It

vanished in an instant, but I was still staring at him. His smile wasnt friendly. It was a smile that

spelled trouble. With a promise. (Fitzpatrick 11)

SUMMARY: Nora instantly felt a strange feeling of attraction toward Patch when she saw him

for the first time. Even though one side of Nora tells her to stay away from him, Nora is still

strained to Patch. Patch always seems to know exactly what she is thinking, what to say and do

to attract and make her uncomfortable. She continually suspects Patch is stalking her and is

dangerous. However, she then continually ignores her feelings and puts herself in danger. Nora is

determined that she will reveal all his dark secrets. Eventually, she learns that he is a fallen angel

who wants to become human.Meanwhile creepy events are happening with a mysterious stalkerfollowing her car, breaking into her house, messing up her room and attacking her best friend,

Vee because she was wearingNoras jacket on. Nora is dubious about Patch, but there is also the

new boy who has transmitted from a different school after being wrongly incriminated of

murdering his girlfriend, Elliot. For Nora love has never been so dangerous.

CHARACTER ANYALSIS: Nora Grey

Nora Grey is a sixteen year old girl living in Coldwater, Maine. Nora lives with

her widow mother in an eighteen century farmhouse located on the bordering area of the town.Nora is an attractive and intelligent brunette with volumes of curly hair and has smokey-eyes,

and long legs. Nora is life has been very ordinary until her Biology teacher has decided to change

the partners. Nora got Patch as her Biology partner, as dangerous and attractive looking senior.

Day by day, Nora is more convinced that she is getting stalked by Patch.Nora has two options:falling into his arms or running and hiding, but she is indecisive on the matter. Nora is practical

and responsible and not looking for trouble, but she just doesnt trust herself around Patch.

PREDICITON/OUTCOME:

When Elliot transfers to Coldwater High, Nora grows suspicious of why he

moved from an expensive private school to a public school and he does not want to say why.

Nora goes to the library to do a research for school when the idea of googling Elliots name

comes to her mind, she does that and an artcile pops up. The article says that Elliot had been

arrested becasuse of his involvment with the murder of his girlfriend but when the police found

the suicide note in the girls bedroom they release him from custody. Nora tries to stay away

from Elliot as much as possible from now on. Days later, Nora gets a call at night and Elliot

invites her to a hide and seek game at Colwater High with Vee (Noras best friend), him and

Jules, Elliot mentions that if Nora does not come Vee wont survive the game. Regardless of

Patch trying to tell Nora to stay in the car, Nora goes in the buliding without him knowing. Nora

finds Jules and he tells her that he was after all the attacks as a way of getting revenge on Patch

for making Jules swear the oath allowing Patch to take possession of Juless body every

Cheshvan, He said that he made Elliot kill his girlfriend because he made Elliot choose between

money and love. All along the novel the light never sheds on Jules because he was always

seemedbored and quiet, it was Elliot that was suspected but as Nora says Elliot was Juless

eyes and ears, feeding information back to him. (Fitzpatrick 364).

SYMBOL: The Archangel Cart Paintings

The Archangel ride is a ride at Delphic Amusment Park. Patch told Nora if she

does not scream on the ride he would ask their Biology teacher to change seats. When they go to

ride The Archangel cart Patch had chosen had a group of four paintings on it. The first was a

group of demons ripping the wings of a screaming male angel. The next showed the wingless

angel on top of a headstone, watching children play from a distance. In the third painting the

wingless angel stood close to the children crooking his finger at one little green-eyed girl. The

final painting shows the wingless angel drifting through the girls body like a ghost. The

Archangel cart paintings shows that Patch is a fallen angel just like the male angel in the

paintings, Patch also possess Nephilim (possess Jules) just like the male fallen angel possess

them (possess the green-eyed little girl).
