Shaykh Muhammad bin Sulaymn Jazl ,has statedI was on a journey. The time of al commenced at someplace. There was a well but there was no rope and bucket over

there. I was becoming anxious. Meanwhile, a Madan girlpeeped from the top of a house and asked, What are youlooking for? I replied, A bucket and some rope. She asked,Whats your name? I answered, Muhammad bin SulaymnJazl. She exclaimed, Oh, so it is you who is very famous! But

your condition is such that you cant even take out water from

a well. Saying that, she spat into the well. As soon as she didthat, the water rose up and overflowed. Muhammad binSulaymn Jazl performed Wu and then askedthe marvellous girl, Daughter! Tell me truthfully as to howyou achieved this marvel? She replied, I recite Durd Sharfand, by virtue of it, this marvel has taken place. He has further said, Impressed by that pious girl, I made a firmintention to write a book about Durd Sharf. (Sadat-ud-Darayn, pp. 159) Therefore, he wrote a book aboutDurd Sharf which achieved great popularity. The name of

the book is Dalil-ul-Khart ( ).

Recently, we solemnized the commemoration of the greatmartyrs of Karbal. I will now narrate you a sorrowful incidentof a ussain groom. Allma Mauln Sayyd Muhammad

Sayyidun Wab Ibn-e-Abdlla Kalb was a well-mannered and handsome young man from the tribe of BanKalb. He was passing the pleasant days of his life happily. Just 17

days after his marriage, his mother who was a widowand whose only asset was her son, came to him and startedcrying. Sayyidun Wab asked his mother inastonishment, Dear mother! Why are you crying? I dontremember any moment in my life when I have ever disobeyedyou and I cannot do so in the future. It is obligatory for me to

obey your orders and I will remain obedient to youuntil the end of my life. Dear mother! What caused grief to yourheart and what made you weep? My dear mother! I am preparedto sacrifice even my life on your order. Please dont be sad.

Listening to that, his mother started crying even more bitterlyand said, O my beloved son! You are the refulgence of my

eyes, you are the peace of my heart and you are the only flowerin my garden. I have brought you up facing severe hardships; Icannot remain away from you even for a single moment. Mydear son! I suckled you in your infancy. Today, the grandsonof the Holy Prophet , the beloved of SayyidunAl , the dearest son of Sayyidatun Fima

is being brutally oppressed on the plains of Karbal.My beloved son! Is it possible for you to sacrifice your life at thefeet of Imm ussain? How shameless it would be if we remainedalive but the Holy Prophets beloved grandson is mercilesslymartyred! If you still remember my affection for you, if youhave not forgotten the hardships that I bore bringing you up,then my dear son, sacrifice yourself for Imm ussain .The ussain groom Sayyidun Wab ,humbly replied

My dear mother! It will be my good fortune if I succeed in

sacrificing my life for Sayyidun ussain and I amwhole-heartedly prepared to do so. I just want to meet thatwoman for a short while who has given up everything in thisworld for me and does not look at any other man except me. Iam a little concerned about her hopes and desires. If shewishes, I will permit her to spend her life as she likes. The

mother said, My dear son! Women are usually unwise; if yourintention changed because of her dissuasion you might losethis eternal privilege. The ussain groom Sayyidun Wab

said, My dear mother! The knot of the love of Immussain is so firmly tied into my heart that no onecan undo it and no one can shatter my determination ofsacrificing my life for him.

Having said that, he went to his wife and said, Thegrandson of the Prophet , the son of Fima

, the blooming flower of the garden of Sayyidun Al is in extreme trouble in the plains of Karbal.

Traitors have trapped him; I desire to sacrifice my life for him.Listening to that, his bride took a deep sigh from her heart andsaid, O crown of my head! Alas! I cant participate in thisbattle with you. Shara has not allowed women to go to thebattlefield in order to fight. Unfortunately, I am deprived of

this blessing and I cant sacrifice my life for Imm

ussain . ! You have made the intention of goingto the heavenly garden where heavenly oors will be waiting to

serve you. Just do one thing for me. When you go to the Heaven,

take me with you where you will be served along with thefamily-members of the Holy Prophet byheavenly oors.

The ussain groom reached the court of Immussain along with his pious wife and venerablemother. The bride said, O beloved son of the Holy Prophet! Assoon as a martyr falls from his horse, he reaches the lap of heavenlyoors and the heavenly servants serve him very devotedly. He1wishes to sacrifice himself for you and I am extremely helpless; Ihave no other relatives; there is no one else to take care of me. I justhave one wish - I aspire not to be separated from him (her

husband) on the Day of Judgement! In this world, I wish to servethe ladies of your family as one of your slave girls. Allthese promises were made in the presence of Sayyidun Immussain and Sayyidun Wab also said, O Immussain! If I am blessed with the Heaven by virtue of theintercession of the Blessed Prophet , I will make therequest, Y Raslull! Let this loyal woman live with me. Havingsaid that, Sayyidun Wab sought permission fromImm ussain and went towards the battlefield. Theenemy-troops trembled fearfully seeing that a rider whose face is asbright as the moon is advancing towards them with a spear in his

hand and a shield on his shoulder reciting the following couplets

in a thunderous voice:

Translation:Imm ussain is the leader and he is agood leader. His brilliance is like a bright lamp.Sayyidun Wab reached the battlefield like athunder-bolt, demonstrated his expertise in horsemanship andswordsmanship and challenged the enemies to a fight. Whoeverdared to take up his challenge was beheaded. A number ofheads of arrogant enemies piled up around him. The blood-

stained bodies of the enemies were writhing on the ground.After a while he changed the direction of his horse, came to hismother and said, My dear mother! Are you pleased with menow? Then, he went to his weeping bride and advised her tohave patience. Meanwhile, a voice was heard from the battlefield

calling out Is there anyone to fight? SayyidunWab mounted his horse and headed towards thebattlefield. The new bride is watching her husband leave astears fall from her eyes. In no time, the ussain Groomreached the battlefield like a vehement lion with his sword andspear. The combatant was a brave and famous warrior and

expert rider akam bin ufal. He leapt off his horse inarrogance. With one attack, Sayyidun Wab lifted

him with his spear and threw him onto the ground smashing

his bones. There was uproar in both the armies and the enemylost the courage to fight. Sayyidun Wab rodestraight into the heart of the enemies. Whoever dared to fightagainst him lost his life. He kept fighting and killing enemiesbravely until his spear broke into pieces. Then, he took his sword out of the scabbard and beheaded enemies. Fed

up with this one to one fight, the enemy leader Amr bin Sadordered his soldiers to surround the young man and attack himjointly from all around. Carrying out that order the enemiesattacked at once. Sayyidun Wab , seriously injuredby that cowardly attack, fell to the ground and the blackhearted enemy cut his blessed head and threw it towards thearmy of Imm ussain . Picking up the head of herbrave son the mother of Sayyidun Wab rubbed iton her face and said, O son! My brave son! Your mother isnow pleased with you. The mother then put the head into thelap of the bride of the martyred ussain groom. As the head

was placed in her lap, her soul left her body and joined herussain groom.

(May Allah grant you an abode in the gardens of Firdausand immerse you in the river of mercy).

Dear Islamic brothers! Did you see how great boons devotion

to Ahl-e-Bait and enthusiasm for martyrdom are! A new groomwho had got married just 17 days back fought against theenemy-troops alone in the battlefield and became deserving ofthe Paradise by drinking the beverage of martyrdom. Maymillions of Salm be to the mother and wife of the ussaingroom as well! Look how courageously and bravely the mother

and the wife saw the ussain groom being martyred at the feetof Imm ussain . May Allah bless our mothersand sisters with some part of this enthusiasm of such great andcourageous ladies of Islam so that they also bring up theiroffspring in conformity with Sunna, make them make sacrificesfor Islam and travel with the Madan Qfila of Dawat-e-Islami.

Three brave brothers

Allma Abul Faraj Jawz has narrated thefollowing parable in Uyn-ul-ikyt: There were threeyoung Syrian Muslim brothers who joined the Islamic army to

participate in Jihad. They would travel separately, not with the

Islamic army and would not attack unless the enemies attacked.

Once, a big Roman (Christian) army invaded the Muslims.Many Muslims were martyred and a number of others weretaken away as prisoners. The three brothers said to each other,Our Muslim brothers are facing great trouble; it is obligatory

for us to leap into war without caring for our lives. Therefore,they joined the remaining Muslims and said to them, Let usthree brothers fight on the front; you are to fight remainingbehind us. If Allah wills, we will be enough for you.Having said that, the three brothers invaded the Roman armyso fiercely that the enemies had to retreat. The Roman king

(who was observing the bravery of the three brothers) said toone of his generals, I will designate the one, arresting any oneof those three young men, as the commander-in-chief.Listening to that announcement, the Roman army fought sovigorously that they captured the three brothers alive withoutinjuring them. The overjoyed Roman king remarked, There isno greater conquest and booty than these three young men.Having arrested them, the king ordered his army to return tohis capital along with the three brothers.

Having reached his country, the king called them and said, Ifyou embrace Christianity, I will not only marry my daughtersto you but also bestow kingship upon you in the future.Remaining steadfast in their faith, the three brothers rejected

the kings offer and invoked the Holy Prophet for help. The king asked his courtiers as to what the brotherswere saying. The courtiers replied, They are invoking theirProphet for help. The king said to those three brothers, If youdont agree to what I say, I will get three large cauldrons full ofheated oil and get each of you thrown into them. He thenordered that three cauldrons full of oil be brought and heated

for three days. Each day, the three brothers were brought nearthe boiling and burning cauldrons where the king would try toforce them into embracing Christianity, giving them thetemptation of rule and marriage with princesses but theyrefused his offer every time, remaining steadfast in their faith.

After three days, the king called the oldest brother andrepeated the same demand but he refused. The king threatenedhim to be thrown into the boiling oil but he still refused. Inanger, the king ordered him to be thrown into the oil. As soonas he was thrown into the boiling oil, his flesh and skin burntoff and his bones rose to the surface. The king did the same tothe second brother and got him thrown into the boiling oil.When the king saw the steadfastness of these brothers even insuch a difficult time, he said inwardly in shame, I have neverseen anyone braver than these Muslims. What have I done tothem? After that, he called the youngest brother and tried to

make him deviate from Islam but he didnt fall into the trap ofthe king. Meanwhile, a courtier said, O king! If I entrap him,what reward will I get? The king replied, I will make you the

commander-in-chief of my army. That courtier agreed. The

king asked, How will you entrap him? He replied, O king!You know that the people of Arabia are highly interested inwomen and nearly every Roman knows that my so and sodaughter is the most beautiful girl in the whole of Rome. Handover this young man to me; I will make him meet my daughterin loneliness; she will succeed in enticing him by the charm of

her beauty. Giving him the grace of forty days the king handedthe young man over to him.

That courtier took the young man to his home and told hisdaughter the whole situation. The girl expressed her willingnessto act as her father said. The young man started living with the

girl in such a way that he would fast during the day and offerNafl al during the night. As the grace was coming to anend, the king asked his courtier as to how far he had succeededin his plan. The courtier came to his home and asked hisdaughter; she remarked that she had not succeeded in entrappingthe young man as he did not show any interest in her. Perhaps,she explained to her father, its reason was that his two brotherswere brutally killed in that city in front of him. Therefore, shesuggested her father ask the king to extend the deadline ofgrace and allow both of them to go to another city. The fatherwent and told the situation to the king. The king extended the

grace and allowed the girl and the young man to be taken toanother city.

The young man kept the same routine in the other city as well;

he fasted during the day and remained busy with worshipduring the night. When only three days were left in thetermination of grace, the girl went to the young man and saidspontaneously I want to embrace your religion and she becamea Muslim in that way. Then they made a plan to escape. Thegirl brought two horses from the stable and they both headed

towards the Islamic empire.

One night, they heard the sound of horses behind them. Thegirl suspected them to be the Christian soldiers. The girl said tothe young man, Pray to your Creator Who I have believed inso that He saves us from our enemies. When the young man

turned around he was astonished to see that his two brothers,who had been martyred, were riding horses along with a groupof angels. The young man said Salm to them and inquiredafter them. They both said, With one dive we entered Janna-tul-Firdaus and Allah has sent us to you. After sayingthat, they went back. Along with the girl, the young manreached Syria where he married her and they started livingover there. This parable of the three brothers became veryfamous in Syria and hymns were written for them. One versefrom a hymn is as follows:

(Translation:With the blessing of truth, Allah will soonbless the truthful with salvation in life and death). (Uyn-ul-ikyt, pp. 197-198)

May Allah have mercy on them and forgive us for theirsake!

Dear Islamic brothers! Did you see how greatly the threebrothers demonstrated steadfastness in their mn which wasdeeply rooted in their heart! They were sincere devotees of theHoly Prophet . The two brothers weredeserving of the eternal heavenly favours by drinking thebeverage of martyrdom whereas the third one did not evenlook at the most beautiful girl in Rome. Instead, he remainedoccupied in worship day and night. In that way, the hunter washerself hunted. We also learnt from this parable that invokingthe Holy Prophet for help and calling YRaslall in difficulty has been the long-standing practice ofthe Muslims of the ancient past.

Turned down the worldly comforts

How great and meritorious that young Syrian mans ambition,

determination and steadfastness in faith was! Ponder for amoment! His two beloved brothers were martyred in front ofhim, but his determination did not relent at all. Neither threats

frightened him nor did the hardships of detention affect his

overwhelming determination. The black clouds of troublescould not fade the refulgent sun of his ambition. The storm ofdifficulties could not even shake the rock of his steadfastness.The devotee of Allah and Beloved Mustafa did not care at all about the worldly troubles; rather, he whole-heartedly welcomed each and every trouble befalling him in

the path of Allah . Further, the temptations of wealth andbeauty of the world could not make him deviate from hisdetermination and he turned down every sort of worldlycomfort for the sake of Islam. At last, Allah created meansof his release; that Roman girl embraced Islam and they bothgot married with each other.

Dear Islamic brothers! If you are also aspirant to success in theworld as well as in the Hereafter, make it your routine to travelwith the Madan Qfila along with Prophets devotees forlearning Sunna, fill in Madan Inmt booklet practicing Fikr-e-Madna daily and submit it to the relevant representative of

Dawat-e-Islami of your area within the first ten days of eachMadan (ijr) month.

Al-e-Bayt

It is narrated by Amr-ul-Mminn, SayyidunAl al-Murta that theProphet of mankind, the Peace of our heart andmind, the Most Generous and Kind has stated, Whoever shows good conduct toanybody belonging to my Al-e-Bayt (lit. people

of the house i.e. family), I will reward him withits recompense on the Day of Judgement.(Al-Jmi-u-aghr, pp. 533,ad 8821)

Would that I were dumb!Despite being predestined to enter the Heaven, Amr-ul-Mminn, Sayyidun iddq-e-Akbar would remain afraid of the misuse of tongue.Therefore, he said, Would that I weredumb and I were able to use tongue just for the ikrof Allah ! (Mirqt-ul-Maft, vol. 10, pp. 87, ad 5826)
